Lures of the North

Fun pics, art objects and prints, great smelling candles made in the Chequamegon-Nicolet somewhere. Old antique outboard motors. Very north woodsy stuff to hang on your walls. And the owner is a nice friendly woman. Right on the southern end of Main St, north of the old library.

This is one of my favorite stores in all of the cute little downtown in Hayward, topped perhaps only by the candy shop. Over the years, we've found several items for our home. We really like the collection that is curated here, which focuses on outdoors and north woods but without being cheap. I feel like the art here is really for the outdoorsman -- it will be most appreciated by people who appreciate the outdoors and hunt or fish themselves. But the art is classy and framed professionally, which makes for easy taking home of really nice ready-to-hang pieces. You can work with the store to have items shipped, something we have done before with great success. And, since the framing is in house, you can have a custom frame put on a piece if you dislike the one on it or are buying a print not in a frame. The prices are super reasonable, especially when compared to prices in larger areas. There have been several times when I felt like we paid a price that would barely cover the frame (not to mention the actual art) if I were buying the same piece in the Twin Cities or other major metro. The staff is friendly and super competent, and they can often tell you a lot about a piece if you are interested. Many are made by area artists or at least artists who are from Minnesota/Wisconsin or the Midwest. Definitely worth a stop in.

We needed some damaged art fixed and framed and they did an amazing job transforming our art! We are so thankful. They are great about communication too!

Great place for excellent outdoor / cabin / sporting goods decor. Owners are super friendly and helpful. Like a museum but not at museum prices.
