Indoor fireplace, outdoor seating, large table for group, and lots of cozy seating. Owner and staff seem happy to be there and interact. Variety of baked goods to tempt a variety of appetites. Right now showing works by 2 artists.

Such a cute coffee shop right by the river. I actually ordered an ice tea and it was delicious. The staff was friendly and crowd was laid back.

While the coffee shop was quiet and peaceful, the outdoor patio is where I wanted to enjoy my coffee. We met here with the Metro Sketchers group. I ordered an iced latte which was good. Staff was friendly and asked for my milk preference. Parking is usually a bit of a problem, although I've never had to park farther than a block away. Many people bike to the coffee shop or next door neighbor, Longfellow Grill. The patio is the place to be. Lots of cyclists, runners and walkers passing by. Lots of outdoor eating and talking. I always enjoy my visits here.

I've been frequenting this gem of a coffee shop since it opened almost 10 years ago. Although, it's gone through many transformations since then. The latest transformation, Loons Coffee, is certainly the best reincarnation. In fact, since I broke my foot over two months ago it has become my go-to place for MT (mental/mocha therapy). I also go to PT but that's a different story. Loons has great ambiance, with an adjoining restaurant and gift shop, and a scenic location next to the Mississippi River on Lake Street near the Minneapolis Rowing Club. There is also a walking trail on the river that, unfortunately, I can't use now. The trail meanders by a beautiful white sand beach with a view of the U of M and downtown Minneapolis. Above the river is a walking/bike trail stretching for miles that I can't use either. But, there is a convenient parking lot next to Loons with handicap parking and only 25 steps to its front door... I can hobble this far.Although Loons has only been opened a relatively short time, it has the most savy management. They are consistently brewing a great blend of Ethiopian coffee... their signature coffee (a local favorite); stocking delicious bakery items as well sandwiches, patties, fruits and salads; developing a closer relationship with the Longfellow Grill for their customers' convenience. Like all service industries since Covid, they may have had a few staffing problems. But, they are making sure their core staff are friendly and helpful.Check it out!

In town for a few days and found this gem! Amazing coffee and very attentive staff. I'm an espresso guy and there's did not disappoint. I also loved the variety of local foods and merchandise. You can see the owner is passionate about supporting the local community. The interior had a very homie feeling. I hope to come back in spring to sit out on the nice patio.

I met friends here for coffee, I found it to be a bit more expensive than my normal but I was very pleased with the flavor and the personal service by the manager assuring we were enjoying our visit. I was very happy to find interesting Ethiopia pastries. It's a warm and welcoming place and was a nice way to spend the worming with friends. I hope to come back when the patio is open, and ideal setting.

My review is solely based on stumbling here as I was making my way to Longfellow Grill. I was so surprised to see a new coffee shop that I had never heard of. After a quick conversation with the barista, I learned this was the former Dunn Brothers that unfortunately never survived the COVID pandemic. Regardless, the space is abundant and there are lots of tables where work can be done along with huge open windows that allow natural sunlight in. Therefore, I may just come here tomorrow to crank out emails. The menu appears to be very diverse and I believe this would classify as an Ethiopian coffee house according to the shop owner at CorAZon next door. I liked that I saw local sister company products such as Hot Hands pies (Saint Paul shop) along with Sebastian Joe's (Minneapolis shop). I can't wait to return and try some of the items!

Coffee was not good. I don't know if they knew how to make a mocha. While this is a convenient location, I wouldn't recommend coming here for your coffee.
