Came here a few times now. First time was on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty packed and it's a smaller restaurant so it was also really loud and lively. The second time was on a Sunday afternoon, it's was consistently busy but a lot quieter. They do have a small sidewalk patio right in front of the restaurant. The food is decent tasting for the most part. I got flautas w/ shredded chicken (you can get them as an app or entree w/ rice and beans) The drinks are good as well. I will say it's a bit pricey overall though. There's a slight discount if you use cash vs card. Service is overall a bit slow but the staff were generally always nice. They do have street parking, as well as a decent sized parking lot, which is nice.

This place is located in west Saint Paul it's in a key Hispanic area surrounded by lots of amazing shops. It has its own little parking lot and on nice days it has a large open feel where huge garage doors open letting in fresh air. As you walk in you are greeted and the interior is very open. There are some tasteful sports decorations along with TVs and a large well-stocked bars. When you go to a sports bar you expect lots of Tvs and lots of gody Vikings or football decor all over the place and when you go to a Mexican restaurant you mostly see Mexican decor and lots of traditional things. This bar is very modern and clean-looking.The service was second to none and the menu was so large we were not even sure what to get. Also, beware of what you get because lots of the items are made to be shared so ask about portion size first. We were planning to order a few things but started with beer, and then a margarita. The margarita was not watered down and syrupy like in some places. We continued to browse the menu and the amazing server was again helpful and we decided to start with the fish and shrimp ceviche. Well, when it came out the portion was so large we were done. The ceviche tasted very fresh the avocado melted in your mouth and the shrimp were not rubbery like they had it sitting for days. The chips tasted nice and crisp. We hope to make another trip there again soon because if everything is as good as the ceviche then we will enjoy the rest of the menu. Thank you all at La Costa for the amazing lunch!

Every time we come here the food is amazing I try to get something different every time but I just can't seem to pass up that Cadillac margarita or the queso birria The staff is always very kind and it's a perfect blend of sports bar and family time especially during the summer You can sit out on the patio and when the weather's super nice you can sit near the window where the garage door windows open and take in the summer breeze! I won't mention names.... But this place is one of the best on the block And I would highly recommend to anybody visiting the area that wants some authentic dishes with great drinks and an even better happy hour!

As if I didn't need another reason to love my fave spot on the West Side of St Paul, they've now added my fave meal of the week to their menu. My lovely wife and I have been coming to La Costa since they first opened, it's kind of our spot, so I was very excited when they invited me in to check out their new brunch offerings. They're mixing it up with some more traditional huevos dishes as well as some standard American ones with their own twist. Check it : Biscuits and Gravy ~ Two fresh baked buttermilk biscuits * country gravy * two eggs any style * crispy hash browns **sour cream based gravy here which is outstanding and unique. Hash browns are perfectly crispy and seasoned well. I'm told they're still working the kinks out with this one and I'm definitely headed back to give it another go!**Chilaquiles Platter ~ Crispy corn tortilla chips * green sauce * shredded chicken * beans * queso fresco * crema * cilantro * onion * two eggs **you have a choice of red or green chili sauce with these -- always go green cause their verde is some of the best I've had**Huevos Divorciados ~ Fried Eggs on Corn Tortillas * green and red salsa * chorizo * rice * beans * tortillas **I love the chorizo here and a little of everything off this platter slapped into a corn tortilla and it's heaven**Guacamole ~ available any time, but we always order it because it's the best in town!Brunch is being served Monday - Friday 8am-11am -- Weekends 8am-2pmThey're working on adding botttomless mimosas and the Bloody Mary here is very solid! Get on over there and happy brunching, everyone!

Went for dinner on a Saturday evening and got chips, guac, two mango margaritas, mole enchiladas, and A La Diabla shrimp. The prices are elevated for what it was, but overall the food quality and portion sizes were decent. The chips were the highlight. Very fresh. Before I continue, I already know it's supposedly "my fault" for ordering the A La Diabla shrimp. However, as someone who regularly eats spicy food (reaper, scorpion, etc peppers) I could not believe how ungodly hot this dish was. It was not good, and I even had to go to the lengths of dipping the shrimp in a glass of water to rinse them off. The server said he doesn't even like the dish and our dinner guest couldn't even tolerate a dab onto her finger. I ate it as to not waste the money spent. Disappointed. Server was even laughing at me, so I'm wondering if I was the butt of a joke here. My wife's enchiladas mole was delicious though, and I highly recommend that. Would be a 4 star review if the prices were slightly better and I didn't have to dip my food into water just to taste it.

We made an impromptu trip on New Year's day to La Costa, just a short drive over the Robert street bridge from downtown St. Paul, for margaritas and lunch. We decided to start with the shrimp and fish ceviche, which proved to not only be the best Minnesota ceviche I have had in remembrance, but also a very large serving for two people - we could eat no more after that! We also saw a CAMARONES ZARANDEADOS platter come out that looked pretty amazing. The restaurant was quiet, had a clean interior and restrooms and a couple locals saddling up to the bar. Waitstaff was pleasant and appropriately tipped for a holiday. This was a basic sports bar atmosphere with not so basic food. In the past I have only had breakfast here but I will be back to this little Westside spot for meals beyond that in the future - well done La Costa!

First time visiting and will come back, food was good and as noted by other reviews service was suspect but you have to give an establishment a break due to labor shortage.La Costa had large roll up garage doors and on the beautiful evening the breeze was nice. Lots of TV's to watch sports. The food was good and was delivered hot, drinks were great as well.I will for sure go back.

We waited almost an hour to eat. There was only one waitress taking orders, and another gal bringing out the food. Food was just alright. I've ordered take out from here before and was impressed, but after this experience, I'd consider going down the street to Boca Chica.
