Ended up here by chance, twice. Both times we walked away with a feeling of peace and tranquility from our experiences here. We purchased timeless one of a kind pieces that hold great meaning to us. The owner is incredible. She's warm and compassionate about her pieces and everything is special. Come to look at beautiful jewelry and clothing and art but also to learn about the artists and cultures where they came from. We absolutely LOVE this place and it's perfect for a stop on your walk on a beautiful day!!!!

My visit here was initially to participate in a Bollywood Dance event held here for the Open Streets Fair. I got here early with my friends to get a good spot...and walked inside...when we were transported to India! Wow! My friends and I were blown away as we got to meet Anju, one of the owners. She was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. She says that her shop, Khazana, was a natural outgrowth of her collection...she started collecting beautiful items from India and her store was her desire to share her passion with others. Yes, my friends and watched and participated in the Bollywood dance but we also bought incense, henna, and browsed and enjoyed this beautiful shop. Thank you, Anju!

Khazana feels like a home away from home. They are so kind and willing to teach me all about textiles and other cultural elements. They are also wonderful about giving fair wages to the artisans who make every unique item in their shop. Thank you for all that you do!!!

This place has super cool art and gifts, but last time I went in, the owner totally changed the prices on me. I came in with only $20 for Christmas presents, so I picked up 3 small things and went to check out. What should have costed (and was priced at) $10 total ended up costing me $20 for no reason. The owner also wouldn't tell me my total until I handed over my credit card.To make matters worse, when I got home and checked the price of one of the cards and compared it to the price on the receipt, it was clear she had charged me double. I decided to forgive and forget--if the business is failing and she needs the money, then it must just be out of desperation. And then I came on here and read Don O.'s review and was like, damn, this has happened to others? I feel like a fool for liking this place so much, and for telling my friends about it, because I'm definitely not going back anymore. I can get cool stuff elsewhere... like local shops that don't take advantage of their customers.

I live near Lyndale and have seen Khazana since they first opened and have always wanted to stop in. I finally made it a point to do just that because I needed a card for a half Hindu wedding. I can honestly say that I have never had a better retail shopping experience than this one.The store is in a house, so each room has something different in it and you're free to wander through the rooms. As soon as I entered I was greeted by the woman owner, Anju. As I made my way into the textiles room (I wanted to look at scarves and see what they had) she told me "We call that the play room. Feel free to take out anything, they're just textiles! You can leave them all on the chair when you're finished." Talk about feeling at home! I quickly asked her before she walked away if they sold cards. She took me to the room of stationery and books, and she asked me what I was looking for, and when I told her she immediately showed me beautiful hand-painted wedding cards. Then she said she had just picked up more cards when she was in India for a wedding and she went downtairs to find them. She showed me all of those, and let me sit and find what I wanted. Each room is very comfortable, many of them had chairs which I found made me feel even more at home. I was able to sit while I tried to figure out what I wanted. Anju allowed me time to browse around on my own. We chatted about my trip to India and she informed me that when I want to go back I should stop in and see if they are going at any time, that they love to bring friends & customers.Everything about this place was perfect. The service is top-notch. And the products certainly live up the to name "Khazana" (which means "treasures"). It's like walking into a house full of treasures. There are so many things to discover. Scarves, clothing, books, jewelry, statuary, pottery, trinkets, art. Most of it comes directly from the artists, to eliminate the middle man and keep the prices fair on both ends. Plus the family travels frequently to India and brings a lot of it back themselves.Khazana is a wonderous place. If you're looking for an Indian themed gift, or just something for yourself, I recommend going here first! Chances are you'll find exactly what you're looking for...and more.

I have for years greatly appreciated Khazana for the ambience of the store that is like opening a doorway to another land, the beautiful items offered, the graciousness and engagement of the owners and the attitude they have towards supporting Indian artisans with a reasonable wage for their work. Now I have a very special story to add that becomes a wholehearted recommendation for this store and the family who runs it. The story: I have a friend in Mumbai who runs a daycare for children of all castes. Neena has been determined to see that the children - and especially girls - of low social-economic classes get an education. She has sent me gorgeous photos of her children: beaming faces, big brown eyes, dark skin and hair, playing and learning. But all the baby dolls the girls held were blonde and blue-eyed as Neena was unable to find dolls who resemble her children. Familiar with the research that tells us how devastating such a mismatch is to the self-esteem of young children, I was motivated to find a solution. When I searched websites for appropriate dolls, I found lots of fine Native American and African American dolls, but few that look East Indian. I took the possibilities to the Kataria family who kindly and carefully selected those dolls that would mirror the looks of the girls and boys who would hold them. And on their latest trip to Mumbai, they filled their suitcases with theses gorgeous dolls to deliver to Neena. Thus, The folks at Khazana have made a very special dream come true for Neena, for her daycare kids and for me.

This was the first stop on a long day of shopping in Minneapolis, and we must have spent an hour in this boutique, looking at everything and trying not to buy up the entire store. The staff were so friendly and helpful, explaining the history and methods behind the incense, kaftans, tapestries and craft tools. There was a wide selection of everything, it's almost impossible not to find something you absolutely love - gorgeous scarfs, beautifully crafted jewelry, a million kinds and scents of incense, wood cut stamps for craft making, hand-drawn and painted stationary... I walked away with the most divine Juniper rope incense, and a package of incense with a Palo Santo wood, some soap, cone incense, and stick incense. Everyone should stop in here!

This is my first review.....Best place to go if you're looking for gifts and materials from India. I love the fact she encourage me to touch and unfold the materials. I'm hooked and will be back! I feel in love with materials selection from antique to new. She's very helpful and gave great advice on how to display materials. Where to cut, what to use it for etc. I can't wait to go back to spend hours to select the materials. My boyfriend gave it thumbs up!

Gifts, jewelry, art, from India. I literally stumbled upon this place. I was on a mission in the back of my mind for a specific curtain situation and the words, "textiles" made me do a 360 and go inside. The owner found me EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. No hard sell. She just intuitively knew what I wanted and had it on her shelves. This is a place to go to if you have a specific gift or need something unique. If you don't find what you want, you will be let off the hook. No hard sell. LOVE! Wish I could show you the beautiful curtains.
