I'm coming back! Didn't know this place existed. I was looking for a place with coffee and was a bistro type spot based on what my wife said because she had to get some work done before we went to our appointment. Sure enough, I found Key West Bistro, Cuban delish sure and true in the town I grew up in. The owner, I believe he was the owner greeted us and helped us understand the only thing not available at opening was the Cuban pork. Later when we were leaving, we struck up a conversation and he said the real deal Cuban pork is available as early as 9:30 AM. I asked for the most authentic Cuban coffee he had on the menu, and he directed me to the colada. I did have to add extra sugar to my liking.I was in the mood for an omelette before we found this place. I was ready to step into paradise when I saw the Cuban breakfast sandwich, but that was thwarted when I realized that Cuban pork wasn't available at that time of our arrival. So I substituted the pork for the bacon. My first bite was just the egg and bread, and I was still thinking of an omelette. But once I took the second bite...once I let that bacon sink into my taste buds....once I decided to stop rushing through my eating.....I realized this food was the truth and they brought Havana, Cuba to Minneapolis, MN. I savored every bite, and GLADLY finished off my wife's sandwich as she got the same thing I did.I'll find a reason to come back. Matter fact I don't need a reason, I just will!

I think Cuban coffee culture is amazing and there aren't many places to get Colada coffee so I appreciate the menu here. The inside vibe is great. I like the Key West decor. The barista was very nice and brought my son marshmallows for his hot chocolate. The Colada definitely needs more sugar or hasn't been whipped enough. I tasted very little until the end of the drink. It was like drinking black coffee at first. Both the Colada and my wife's latte came out way too hot. I burned my tongue even after the latte had been sitting for 10 min. Please add more whipped sugar to the Colada and brew at a cooler temp. The drink taste will greatly benefit.

A small coffee shop selling sandwiches and handmade sweets. I found it casual and funky with tasty stuff.I was there on a recent weekday afternoon with my brother-in-law. We both had an excellent, sumptuous Cubano pressed on crunchy island baguette slices and we each enjoyed a very agreeable hot apple cider and chai tea blend. I'm not a big yellow mustard fan preferring either a whole grain jar or some Dijon type. But for reasons that I can't quite explain the condiment is perfect for this particular creation.I added a slice of hand crafted Key Lime pie which was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet, not too bitter and obviously created with genuine key lime juice, a crumbly but still attached crust and topped with a smooth whipped cream. Mmmmm!I have been to Cuba, eaten all over including Miami and I'm not certain that this amateur found the lunch anything but the real deal. For an added bonus the proprietor makes his own (as yet untasted) Gelato offered in an ever changing array. An assortment of pottery and other items for sale gave the store a well lived in look that seems to belie it's age.A flat panel screen displayed what I took to be a live feed from Key West but I forgot to ask.The owner was cheerful, talkative and maybe a bit inattentive at times but we both weren't in any particular hurry so no worries. We snagged a parking spot and an available table with ease. I imagine both could be problematic at times.

A very cute neighborhood cafe vibe. Ordered the Cubano, was delicious (the cheese could have been meltier but we were taking it to go so it probably would have been better fresh). Sandwich was great price for size and deliciousness. Next time definitely will have to try some of their drinks and their key lime pie.

Ordered key lime pies for a special event. They were perfect--just the right balance of sweet and tart. Homemade graham cracker crust. Nothing pre-fab about these pies!

Wowee, this place satisfied my late lunch craving for something local and delicious with flying colors! I ordered the BB Cubano and Cubano with a key lime pie slice. All three were fantastic. The bread on the sandwiches were perfect and left me wondering why I don't make all sandwiches with bread like this! The fillings were generous and juicy and left me feeling full but without any grease or heaviness. The PIE THOUGH. I am losing it over this pie! The zestiness in each bite made my eyes go big and the whip cream was even delicious! Over all, I'm very satisfied with the quality of the food for its price. The inside is also very lush and made me feel like I was in vacation :) I will be back!

Great Cubano sandwich. Not fancy but delicious - I think it's the cuban pork that makes this sandwich so tasty. Key lime pie is great, too.

We had only one objective. To evaluate the Cubano at Key West Bistro. The only choice was whether to order half or the whole. Easy choice! The sandwich is simply perfection! The bread is crusty and crisp outside. The pulled pork and ham are unadorned and layered with perfection. Even the pickle and mustard were the perfect complement. Nothing "fancy" or excessive, just a straight Cubano, Key West style, done to perfection. Key West Bistro takes the top spot in our ongoing quest to find the Twin Cities' best Cubano!
