J's Restaurant & Bar Down Under

I have only come here for breakfast and have not been disappointed. They usually only have one waitress working, so if you hit a rush you might sit a few minutes. But the food comes out pretty quick. The waitress is friendly and the breakfast food is good. And I like the location downtown and the small town cafe atmosphere. Plus, if you wanted a cocktail you could get one or if you wanted an ice cream cone you could get one!

We waited a long time for our food. Over an hour! I ordered a Monte Cristo and my husband ordered a hamburger. What I eventually ate was not really a Monte Cristo. I can't describe it. Fried bread, weird meat, no cheese... If they didn't know how to make it, I wish they would have just told me. I would have ordered something else. My husband said it was the worst hamburger he's ever eaten. I don't think we'll ever go there again.

Food was good, but average. Service was below par. Waited 45 minutes for food, had to ask the waitress to take our order and the waitress was really unfriendly. Hair was found in the food.

Horrible food like you could find at a gas station. My mother in law was interested in the fish sandwich so she inquired what type it was. The answer from the less than friendly waitress? "Frozen". Are you kidding me?! Would never go back. I was embarrassed that I brought family there but BJ'S deli was closed.

Went to J's Down Under..the bar under the restaurant. Having read the review about the "dive bar", it was exactly as expected. The bloody marys were great and the breakfast pretty good. Loved the local vibe.

Cute old place, lame service though. Was there for breakfast and it seemed to take forever. Maybe I was there between shifts. Tasted ok and the prices were reasonable.

Really enjoyed the midwestern atmosphere great service and a great ambiance. Has lots of cool wall decor if you need ideas for your own cabin

This was a disappointment to say the least. We arrived on Saturday at 1pm. We asked if they were closing because it was so quiet in there. Nope, they closed at 4pm so we were ok. There looked to be about 5 employees that kept walking in and out of the kitchen, so there was ample staff to help us. We ordered out meal - grilled chicken sandwich with cheese, bacon and bbq sauce, a chicken tender melt with chips and chicken bacon wrap. The waitress asked if we meant the chicken tender basket and said nope, opened the menu and showed her the chicken tender melt with chips, no fries. So then we waited, and waited, and waited. We were the only people left in the restaurant. At 1:40 a group of three came in. The waitress came out to help them, and I asked her if our food would be much longer. She said she just saw it in the window but got caught up helping these other people. All she did was take their order. She finally brought our food out 45 min later, and it was chicken tenders on a plate with fries, no dipping sauces, a chicken sandwich (that we found was wrong too when we started eating) and the wrap. I told her the melt was wrong, but we had already waited so long that we would just leave it. As we started to eat, not only was it wrong, but it was cold. The chicken sandwich (with a slice of cheese, no bacon or bbq sauce) and chicken tender and fries were left on the plate.It was another 10 min before she came back out and handed us out bill and said she took our 2 glasses of pop off. I explained again that my daughters chicken tenders were wrong and she said yeah I know, that's why I took the pop off. I also asked about the absence of bacon and bbq on the chicken sandwich, and she responded, I have no idea, I can't control that. I told her to forget it, we will pay and we were done talking because she wouldn't listen anyway. Good news was that as we paid and walked out the door, an older couple had just sat down and were waiting for service. I told them to run as fast as they could somewhere else. They abruptly got up, said thank you for the warning and went across the street, and I went home and made lunch after paying $30 for horribly service and disgusting food.

There is something to be said for the luxury of a dive bar. J's Down under has it all... Free popcorn, Heggies Pizza, and strong cheap drinks. The Bloodys made by myMustachiod friend are the bomb! Sometimes a little strong so I ask for a chaser of Bloody Mix instead of beer. The mix of people who have found this tucked away treasure are tops and did I Mention the prices are as low as the ceiling? Just don't come in looking for a "fancy" drink, but do stay to enjoy the music and meet new friends!

I have only had a burger from the restaurant and it was ok, but Js down under is fabulous! My husband and I love this bar!! Great prices, great service and it has the great dive bar vibe! If your looking for a small low key bar, Js is your place.
