I am so happy to find a local butcher that I can trust and that does not make me feel silly for coming in, taking my time and asking questions. I also never feel pressured to make a decision quickly or to buy anything. However I can never leave without something. Amazing meats! If you're looking for a5 Japanese wagyu this is the go to spot! Amazing options! Helpful service!

Not sure who Jamzie met, but the man behind the counter was helpful without being rude or condescending in any manner. It was my first time trying wagyu, and I am by definition a foodie. I ended up with a 1.23 pound Australian wagyu MS 9 ribeye, and it was better than any steak I have eaten out at any restaurant anywhere. Cost more too I will have to honest on that side of things. I can see swinging in and testing out more items on special occasions and am so glad I stopped into this MEAT PORN PARADISE. If you are a carnivore treat yourself to something you need..... this meat is killer. I will post pics

I came here from a friend's recommendation while searching for high-quality NY Strip steaks. This store does not disappoint. This is not a supermarket meat department, and you do not come here for weekly specials to feed a small army of kids at a backyard BBQ. This is a place for people who geek out about meat and are highly discerning about their meat choices. They have a wide selection of prime beef, wagyu, and aged meats. The guy I spoke to was friendly, very knowledgeable about all the meats, and helped me make a selection based on my criteria (yes, I geek out about meat, too).I picked up some NY Strips and they were excellent. I was completely happy with the meat I purchased. I highly recommend if you are looking for cuts for a special meal - a date, an anniversary, and especially for the holidays.

This place is impressive! My nephew is 16. To celebrate his birthday the past two years, he has gone out to a restaurant for some Japanese A5 Wagyu. He's a great young man and deserving of this treat. I figured on my birthday this year that I was going to join his "club". I had previously read about J Mortens. Their website is very informative of the different types of meat and grades that they carry. Even though they are located around 50th and France, there is a very convenient parking lot available. Walking into this place is unlike walking into any other butcher shop. The first thing I noticed was a big door that looked like the freezer. It looked more like a vault door. There are a few separate cases with prime, wagyu beef, iberico pork, etc. While I was initially thinking about the Japanese wagyu, I ended up going with an Australian wagyu. I just couldn't do the Japanese wagyu yet. It's really white with fat. Some amazing meats here at J Morten with matching prices. Certainly not an everyday meal however for a special occasion, they probably have anything you would be looking for. Next birthday, maybe the Japanese?

I've been exploring the area and stopped in just to check out the shop. I was curious what kind of butchers were around and have been meaning to find one, but the man behind the counter (he may have been the owner) was beyond rude. I'm a young woman who was wearing work out clothes (not sure if just my appearance spurred this) and he automatically assumed I couldn't afford the pricing. I most certainly can and was extremely insulted. -Even if I couldn't, he has no right to talk down to anyone and definitely shouldn't speak to customers the way he did to me. I simply inquired if they had any roast options and he goes "We offer high quality meats." I replied "Yeah, looks like a high quality place :D" and he replied "The cheapest thing we have is the steak tips down there. Otherwise, pricing is about $35 a lb for some items". Wow! I was just looking for a cut of meat, not a stab at my ego!I left and I didn't buy anything... the whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth. I doubt he works on commission or I'd go "Pretty Woman" on his ass, but it's the twin cities! There are definitely better places with more respectable staff out there. Kindness costs nothing, I highly recommend bringing your business elsewhere.

The Australian Wagyu burgers were phenomenal- so much flavor and tenderness that I could eat 4 of them! The gentleman at the counter was very nice and helpful in my choosing, will definitely come back and get more from here!
