I chose not to take pictures because it wouldn't be very pleasant to see, but my partner and I had some chicken teriyaki (#5) which was extremely overcooked as it looked entirely black, and some shrimp with lobster sauce (#73) which tasted okay and had some flavor, despite slimy. We had some egg drop soup (#10) as well but it was very slimy and tasted spoiled, almost in a chemical type of manner, and we could not finish it. Despite overcooked, the chicken and shrimp were still edible and had SOME flavor, so I still would not reduce this establishment to the lowest rating. The person who was at the front desk was a very nice young Black male who insisted on saying my Chinese name right, so that made my take out experience relatively pleasant as well.I don't normally give out low ratings for a restaurant, especially one that serves Chinese food, as I understand the struggle that may come with running a food joint that my people have had to go through throughout history in the United States, but I truly cannot force myself to rate this establishment any higher than a two star, especially since when I have previously visited them before 2015 when they were by Cub Foods on East Lake Street, they were much better (still not THAT good but much better than now), so the fact that this experience defied my memories was also a huge disappointment.

While in college many years ago, this was far and away our favorite place to get Chinese q delivered to our dorm/apartment. It is still pretty good, and brings back nostalgic memories, quality is usually still good, but isn't as consistent as it used to be, but still good and more than willing to go back from time to time when in the neighborhood!

Ordered - #2 Shrimp Egg roll - 2 mini shrimps and a lot of cabbage. A little oily but ok. I don't think I would order it again. - #5 Chicken Teriyaki - They were cooked well. A little extra on the curry. It could go either way on whether I would order them again or not.-# 30 Lobster fried rice - ummm. I didn't eat it past the first couple of bites. It tasted more like imitation crab than lobster. Oh well. I don't plan on ordering again. But as far as being a regular Chinese take-out. It works. This was for delivery. Delivery took about an hour. The lady who took the order mentioned that it would take an hour. So, good on timing. Ps. At the end, I provided the order lady with my card number and then I decided I wanted to a soda, the lady on the phone said "To late, your card went through" Well, I hadn't given her the expiration date yet.... ummm ok.

I've been a fan of Hop Wong since my co-worker introduced me a few years ago. Their food is fairly good, I especially like their wings; which is what i went for. Crispy and good.. seasoned well.I like the new location too. It's not a sit in and dine restaurant anymore, but i don't believe I've ever seen but one person dining inside at any given time. #kanyeshrug So... i think this was smarter for them. For us however, we have to pay for parking, unless you're quick enough to get in and out without getting a ticket. Service was always cool. Owners were kind enough to make sure i knew their new address on Chicago.I'll be back.

I am trying to find the best Chinese in the city, so continuing my journey, I wanted to give Hop Wong a second go.Located at 29th and Chicago, it's in an area that's still in shambles after the protests. There's a ton of rebuilding/construction going on there, so it is a bit loud. It's takeout only with COVID now, so it's something to keep in mind if you are looking to go eat at one of the many benches in area.Food wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't good. I got the General Tso's chicken lunch, extremely spicy. I even wrote this in the notes in Mandarin. Unfortunately, the food was not spicy at all and was literally saturated in sauce. By no means was it the worst that I've had, but I can say that I won't be back unless it's out of extreme convenience when craving Americanized Chinese.

It pains me but my past 2 experiences here have been bad so I have to be honest. I forgot the sweet and sour wasn't good and got the combination one tonight. There is one word for the sweet and sour chicken, pork and shrimp: inedible. It tastes like some sort of cleaning product or chemical. The dough was burned on some, and raw on others. I tossed most of it. The sweet and sour "sauce" is like red water....this used to be my FAV place, I gave it 5/5 stars but something has changed. I gave 2 stars because the fried dumplings are good and the delivery is fairly fast but tonight's experience was bad.

Ordered two things from here, shrimp lo mein & the potstickers. Requested that there be no meat in the potstickers but I'm assuming they couldn't given they removed it from my order. They sent me chicken lo mein instead of shrimp and I'm vegetarian...the girl on the phone refused to help me.

One more delivery like this and I'll stick with Fresh Wok. Your comp is heavy don't down play.

First off, the food tastes great, as always. I've been ordering from this restaurant for many years. I've never had an issue, though I do take extra probiotic as I'm not used to the grease so my son and I both had a slightly upset stomach, which I expected. Still, it's worth it once or twice a year. Double up on the water. I am writing this review because I hope the restaurant will take some extra safety precautions! I have a shell fish allergy and I found two sharp pieces of what I believed to be crab shells in my beef lo mein !!!! This has never happened before. Not only could it have hurt my throat going down, but it may have also caused a bad reaction. So glad I found both pieces.
