This is our second time returning here for lunch and we had a good time. We stopped in and only had to wait a short while before being seated at the bar. The hostess offered us drinks after a short wait but we were still undecided so we ordered in whole when the bartender checked back in. For the place being mostly empty the service was a bit slow but nothing really to complain about. However, the last time we'd been here it was incredibly slow service as well so it felt a little familiar. There menu features classics made upscale with the prices to match. Expect to pay $20+ for an entree - even if it's just a burger and fries. The food however has been consistently good when we've been there. The Mac and cheese is excellent and today we tried their BBQ flatbread with pork belly added. The flavors all worked together great and the crust was the perfect balance between bready and crackery. Our side was forgotten at first but the bartender remedied it immediately when we brought it to his attention. Our bartender was friendly and provided good service. This is a good place but there just a couple adjustments that could be made to make this great. We had two drinks - one of them with berries muddled in that made it a bit hard to drink and the other a Smokey Paloma that lacked creativity - that each ran for $15+ a piece after tip. They have a large dining room and bar area available with windows looking out towards the landmark center which is a nice view. The class level of this place is fairly high and we will return to check it out again. We appreciate their menu and hope to see the cocktail list and the customer service match soon!

We stopped here after a wild hockey game and totally enjoyed our time sitting at the bar. It was super busy and crowded with hockey fans but the staff handled it amazingly. We hung out a while until last call and the bartenders were nice and attentive. We got a couple tap beers and tried one of the craft cocktails. Everything was great! I liked the vibe here and it was a nice quick walk from the xcel energy center. I would totally return again soon!

It was pretty quiet here at lunchtime which made for a nice, relaxing time. The service was great and the food was good. The menu is on the smaller side, but there were options for everyone. One of the better old fashioneds I've had in the Twin Cities. And a nice area! Don't sleep on St. Paul!

I like the vibe at this place. I've been here a couple of times and the staff really does know how to handle a crowd when they get slammed during a local convention or a sporting event.Bar service is great, chips and dip is a must.Ordered the chicken flatbread for lunch and it was a soggy miss. Looks like the burgers are the way to go.

Such a awesome hidden jem! I was led here because of the MSP/St. Paul pub pass. We had some drinks and appetizers. The restaurant is located kiddy corner to rice park. The staff was very nice and our server helped us with the daily specials and recommendations. I believe it's a bit higher scale than my family is used to the food was amazing and presented well. They have a more formal dining area and a bar setting with tvs. We tried the Brussel sprouts and the Buffalo chicken flatbread!

I came here for bevs and apps and was really impressed. Gorgeous, clean place that had a lot of seating. The apps were DELICIOUS and reasonably priced for the quality. Attentive staff!

Usually, a 16-person dinner party results in a compromised evening, but tonight Herbie's rose to the occasion with an outstanding meal in a beautiful setting.Located near the grand Saint Paul Hotel, the historical library, Ordway Center, and the Xcel Energy Center, Herbie's comfortable and warm vibe nails it. I love the architecture and its setting.Alyssa, our server, was fantastic, with helpful suggestions regarding their exciting menu. I started with a tasty tea on a snowy night. I am glad I heeded her suggestion of seasonal risotto with salmon and green beans. It was phenomenal, an incredible blend of superior taste and consistency.Everything about the visit was positive. I hope that I get to visit Herbie's again!

We stopped here before an event at the Ordway, very convenient to parking and the venue. I've stopped here many times. This last visit I choose the salmon. It had a nice outer crisp and cooked perfectly inside. The apple flavored side complimented the salmon well. Others at our table had meatloaf and a burger. Fries were crispy and delicious. Meatloaf was a tasty comfort food. We also used our pub pass to get a free beer. Service was excellent. Very nice experience.

Our meal here was ok. The restaurant itself is a beautiful space and the location is amazing if you are going to the Ordway or there's an event in Rice Park. However, the food and the service were mixed and overall just average. I ordered chili, which was their soup of the day. The flavor was good, but it was 75% beans and little else. My husband had the walleye cakes and he said they were ok. Our server was pleasant but disappeared at times, so as others have mentioned service was on the slow side. I would not recommend going there if you're in a rush to grab a show.

Terrible experience today. We wanted some quick burgers, so we asked for bar seating. We were seated. We got menus and waters. Then we were ignored for twenty minutes, despite five or more staff coming in and looking at us, then chatting with coworkers. The bartender looked right at us several times with nothing else to do. We walked out. What a terrible experience. Stay away.
