Heart of the North

This Northwoods restaurant is an institution which must be must be cherished. The love of garlic is alive and well here among the many fresh and fantastic dishes that defy the Northwoods traditions and expectations. I recommend this restaurant without reservation. But you will need reservations. The owners put their hearts and soul into every dish and it's clearly evident and you will be overwhelmed with the incredible and flavor here in this Northwoods treasure!

When my parents first moved up here they were in the middle of a remodel that left them without a kitchen. The Heart soon became a weekly rotation in our schedules and was a highlight of my week. Great food and even better service. Heather Ashley and Steve do an amazing job.

Just a bar...but good food. The only place we could get in same day for prime rib on Saturday. My hubs got a huge 2+ inch tall king cut end. My queen was perfect. Tasty and good size. We took half of each home. And they gave us some au jus to take ! My son got the pasta with pulled pork. It was good but super rich!!! Strong cheese very flavorful. Took him 2 days to eat it. The flatbread was more like flatbread shaped pizza but cheesy and good if you want plain kinda pizza. Was good dinner. Seemed more local. Wanted to go back. Oh and the Jameson orange old fashioned was my favorite I had up here all week.

This place is amazing. Tuesday night is Italian night and the chef is so creative! So glad we stopped in here. I had the carbonara which is rich thick Parmesan cream sauce with chicken, shrimp, and sausage. Everything is so fresh. This is typically one of those little places that is full of surprises here in the Northwoods. Cant say enough good things!

Really enjoy the take-out service during covid. They have great sandwiches (I especially like the chicken bacon ranch with fries). We even ordered some old fashioneds in plastic cups to drink at the picnic table outside while we waited for our food. Looking forward to going back.

Good food; however loud atmosphere when the jukebox gets cranking, if you just want to go have an few drinks and "sight see" it is the place. I thought the bartender was really friendly. She gave us some strong drinks for an good price :)

The only good meal of the night was the cajun shrimp. The service was fast and waitress was nice but I don't recommend the full meals

Friday night fish fry was amazing! Went with wife and three kids. Make reservations as limited tables. Fantastic food and full menu is served daily with some specials changes. Cheese curds, spot on.Old fashioneds, solid but could improve a bitBlackened walleye, Parmesan cod kid meals and all sides were high end. Inside is darker with limited tables but worth going and trying! We will return.

Stopped in last week for dinner. They had a Jambalaya with crispy chicken. I like a little spice and the cook/owner said it was great....after all he said he was from Louisiana.I tried it.....terrible. It was a huge bowl of what seemed like Zatarans boxed rice, maybe 4 nickel size pieces of sausage and i think i saw one piece of green pepper. The crispy chicken was a dried deep fried chicken patty. Just a joke and certainly not worth a return visit.
