I was here in a Friday evening in late September. It was pretty quiet. The beer is ok. The pizza is decent. Good service. Friendly folks. Pizza made fresh on an outdoor wood fired oven. Beer flights available. They have liquor and wine, too. Nice outdoor seating areas

I like beer. I liked the beer here. I go to a lot of breweries. The brewery in a greenhouse at HoTN is novel and works well. The brewer and a guy at the bar were both friendly and free with helpful advice. This will either appeal or appall, but you can't miss the MAGA flag inside. The flag is a "your not welcome" symbol and sadly left a foul after taste in what was otherwise a delicious beer. The flag cost 2 stars. I know this is central Wisconsin. I respect your opinions even when they are different from mine. Yet the MAGA flag is a symbol that some are not welcome. Bummer, because the outdoor oven cooked pizza looked delicious. The place was large and comfortable. The outdoor patio was fantastic.

Stopped by on our way north. Had a flight of beer, liked Chasing Dragons the best. Pizza on the menu. Brewery in an old greenhouse. Will definitely be back

Visited today. There were a lot of flies, which is not the problem of the establishment. But the female bartender was using a flyswatter to kill them. On top of the bar where patrons were sitting, on the back bar where they prepare and serve drinks, and even on top of the taps and the container where the cut up fruit, olives, etc are kept for mix drinks. She'd brush the dead flies onto the floor and even into the sink where I watched her wash glasses (after brushing dead flies into the water!). Then she stopped to make a Bloody Mary and didn't wash her hands and reached into a jar of pickles with her bare hands. I was sickened and left ASAP.

A great brewery experience and a friendly staff on both of our visits. The greenhouse attached to the taproom adds a unique pleasant setting that most breweries just can't include. We've never had the pizza but they look fantastic and the beer and mixed drinks have always been delicious. It should be noted that all but one of the negative reviews are specifically because the reviewer doesnt like the owners political views. Ok. If you want a great place to soothe your hurt feelings, HoTN might just be it.

I recently had the opportunity to stop by Heart of the North as I was heading north on Highway 27. It is located on the east side of the highway and it shares a parking lot with a nursery/garden center which has been there for quite some time.Anyway, I had 2 pints of a very good hazy IPA, 'Chasing Dragons'. Good enough that I had a growler filled; bought 3 etched pint glasses and left a 20%+ tip for the staff. The interior shares space with the greenhouse which offers great airy ambiance. But the ambiance immediately vaporized as soon as I noticed the giant tRump flag displayed right in the middle of the building. I had overlooked it at first because I was looking at the bar set up, otherwise I would have turned around and walked right out again. Everyone has the right to their opinion and their right to politely speak their mind. It's their business and they can manage it any way they wish. But I reserve the right to let others know that this business is run by tRumpers and is happily displaying a deeply offensive symbol of hate and insurrection to millions of people. You can get good beer almost anywhere now. I won't be back. A solid 4 star place docked 2 stars for thinking offensive political symbols are appealing to all.

Read the reviews and am glad to stop by. Mark H. was kind enough to point out that it is run by Trump supporters, so there's no way I can pass that up.Trump flags aren't symbols of hate. Imagine thinking that supporting a political candidate makes you a monster. Take a look in the mirror, buddy. You and yours are everything wrong with this country, not Trump and his supporters. It's a good place for sensible people to go out and enjoy themselves. Don't listen to the intolerant left.

Went here for the first time last night to see the Black Moods play.Beer was great food was great atmosphere was amazing. Ignore the few 2 star political rants, related to this place. It is unfortunate that people like that have so much hate and bias in them and can't except differences and diversity. Those people even agreed the food and beer was great. So we all In agreement on the beer and food, just not politic. It's to bad that the left can't accept, or allow anyone to have an opinion or belief that is different from theirs. So if you want a good time, with some of the nicest most accepting people you will ever meet, regardless of your political views! plus a good beer, a good pizza and you LOVE AMERICA. YOU NEED TO STOP HERE! If your an easily offended liberal "according to the other reviews" you should just keep on driving!

Heart of the north brewing is a neat place. They are part of a greenhouse and wedding/party space. The decor is unique, and the room is spacious. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They brew their own beer but also have a menu of creative cocktails. One highlight is their brick oven-style pizza. It is delicious. Heart of the north brewing is the perfect place to hang out with friends or family in a relaxed atmosphere.

I will eat any kind of pizza (frozen included) and I was excited to try some pizza from my hometown pizza/brewery while visiting my family. First of all the ordering was awkward--we had to shout our order through the seated throng of bar patrons over the loud music which was awkward and the people taking our order seemed really unhelpful and unfriendly. I love a casual eating space and we're used to hanging out at our local breweries where we live, but the vibe here was weird and unwelcoming--the loud music (making it hard to chat) and the seating were not cozy or welcoming enough for us to want to stick around, so we ordered our pizzas for take out. We ordered two pizzas: the Margarita and a meat one (pepperoni? or sausage?). We were stoked to try 'em out! When we opened the box lids, we were disappointed. The pizzas looked so unappetizing and sad and were. Starting with the crust: I'm not sure this dough had any yeast in it?! It was completely lacking in flavor (lacked the tang of yeast fermentation) and while thin crusted, which I love, this pizza crust had an odd texture--almost like it was made from a Jiffy mix package. It was truly the worst crust I've ever had. The toppings were equally flavorless. I'm one to love a simple cheese pizza (It's my favorite), but these toppings were so thinly spread on they were downright skimpy and were without flavor and strange. The sauce was very tomato pasty and not at all zippy and fresh tomato tasting. The cheese was flavorless too and then the weird drizzle of balsamic vinegar was off putting. Our family picked at the other pizza too and abandoned it to eat a big salad we made instead. We like to support local businesses especially hometown, but this is one we won't be revisting. Next time, we will make our own (which is truly easy and delicious--our grilled is freaking amazing) or even get a frozen (Tombstone still rocks!).
