First time here. I never really knew about this rodeo until I was bombarded with facebook posts about it. We went Sunday night the last night. Parking attendants direct you to a spot. Online tickets were $24 each and were scanned from your phone at entrance. There were vendors selling jewelry, cowboy hats, clothes, pocket knives, etc. I bought 2 large hair barrettes that have cow hide on them. They are for ponytails. I had a cheeseburger and ate half the bun. Also bought 2 waters. There was saddle bronc riding and bareback riding on horses, barrel racing, steer roping, team roping, and my favorite bull riding at the end. The VIP section was sold out but it appears you can stand right above the saddle bronc, bareback riding and bull riding. There was a prayer, military flag tribute, national anthem and singing of God bless America. If that offends you, you can stay home. I can't wait to go next year.

TL;DR - Fun for all ages- get there early if you opt for the 'Select Seating' its closer to the action but it is blanket seating only. Budweiser and questionable burgers. Mercaaaaa.1. They offer shuttles for transportation from surrounding bars- I suggest doing this- the bus parks near the exit road and has first go to leave. 2. Bring a Blanket and go early for the select seating. 3. Bring CASH for beers 4. VERY family friendly5. Small rodeo vendors 6. CHEER! 7. Make sure when you're leaving/coming/going/ stop at the local small businesses. i felt the value of watching these talented cowboys was worth the price of admission. The Bull riding happens VERY QUICKLY so make sure you're in your seat before it happens when they say 8 seconds, they really mean it.

Some rodeos are major productions, but this is the way rodeo is meant to be. The Hamel Rodeo & Bull Riding Bonanza is the best of American culture. The event is run by non-profits; Hamel Lions Club, Heinzen-Ditter VFW, John Pohlker American Legion, Hamel Volunteer Fire Department, and Lord of Life Military Family Support Ministry. Every time I've gone they have honored veterans, the fallen, and the flag that represents our country.

Been going to the Hamel Rodeo every year with a group of friends now for maybe the past 5 years or so. We always have fun. Get there early up save yourself a spot. Beer and concessions are pretty inexpensive. Plenty of porta potties. Rodeo itself is entertaining. Dress is layers! The weather can change quickly.

Workers are rude. Nobody has any respect for other people trying to watch. Had to stand the whole time in very back to see anything and than at the very end, everyone was standing up in front of me (which you can only do if you're in the back row not blocking anyones view). Would not recommend. It's gotten way too packed over the years and it's not that great of a show. Don't waste your money. $24 just to get in.
