Hag's Newport Pizza

I wish I knew the story of how this pizza joint began. There seems to be some history to this place, but as an out-of-stater - I haven't a clue. What I do know is the images of the pizzas this joint puts out - look amazing so I decided one night to buy a "Small" pizza with three toppings. What I wasnt prepared for was having a genuine talk with the two running this pizza paradise. They were both genuine and kind. They seemed to really want to know about me and what led me to Hag's Pizza. They served up my to-go pizza wicked quickly and off I went. I could tell by the smell alone, Id be back. As I dove into the pizza upon returning to my friend's place, I was impressed with this garlic presence in every single bite. I've eaten a ton O' pizzas before but nothing like this. Pizza was well seasoned, cooked to perfection and made with pride. I couldnt eat the "Small" pizza in its entirety but that's okay because if Round Two of this pizza commences tomorrow, Ill be happy once again. I believe the Small pizza is ten inches. I was expecting some mediocre personal pan pizza but the sheer thickness of this pizza packed the ingredients in well. This is the type of pizza place that makes the pizza so well - you shouldnt care what they charge because their pizzas are sheer perfection. Cant wait to return and try out the rest of their menu! Enjoyed Hag's on NYE. We placed an order for pickup at 5:00pm and it was ready in time. Small family owned takeout pizza shop in Newport. Right near the North Pole on Hastings Ave. It's a hidden little gem. Pizza sauce is flavorful and some say spicy, but my pallet does not taste any spice. I love how cheesy this pizza is. Toppings are fresh and pizza is cooked just right. Good thin crust pizza! I'm always happy to support local businesses in the area.

Gave this place a try because I love supporting local businesses. The place is small and unassuming; just a small walk up but that's perfectly fine with me. The pizza sauce probably has more flavor than other pizzas I've had to date. My husband thinks the sauce is "zippy" but he can't take spice. There is a lot of cheese. The cheese is THICK. I had a bit of trouble tasting some of the toppings because of the amount of cheese. There are places that do toppings under cheese and toppings on top of cheese; if that is important to you, Hag's is a toppings under the cheese place. Service was quick. Nothing really stood out as far as services goes but not really as necessary for a walk up either. Definitely worth a try.

Great tasting pepperoni, sausage and jalapeño thin crust pizza. Worth the drive by my loving husband. A total treat.

Consistently good and delivery available to Cottage Grove. Go to place for pizza...for pickup or delivery

If you live in woodbury or nearby. Don't be sleeping on this place. It's small but mighty. You won't regret it.

My favorite pizza place probably of all time. Only thing I wish was different was that they had seating. It's carry out only. Besides that it's the best.

NO valet parking. NO hostess. NO waitress. NO bartender. (Liquor store located next door.) If great pizza is what you're looking for; and you're a MN resident, or simply visiting the Twin Cities; this is most definitely THE SPOT! Great pizza, they DO NOT skimp on ingredients, FAIR prices, great people/ staff! If you live in Newport, St. Paul PARK (NOT St. Paul, the Capitol CITY), they deliver. Otherwise, it's a pickup operation. But trust and believe, it's well worth the trip. Does the pizza compare to the original Savoy's on 7th Street? Minus the atmosphere of the old place, ABSOLUTELY! Must I say more??

It was delicious! So glad to find good pizza so close to home after our favorite pizza place of many years closing.

Great pizza. Tried this for the first time last week and we were very impressed! Will definitely be ordering again soon!
