Guse Hardware is an old fashioned neighborhood hardware store with lots of items that may not be that easy to find particularly in the big box stores. When you walk in the door you feel as if you have stepped back in time a few decades. The staff is friendly and helpful and they are knowledgeable about their products. They are very good about ordering items which may be out of stock. If you have ever visited one of the big box stores and exhausted yourself mentally and physically trying to find an item or even someone to wait on you or answer a question you will appreciate Guse. Parking is easy on the street. I highly recommend Guse as a convenient locally owned business.

This may come as a surprise to those who know me, but I secretly love hardware stores. Seriously. This love mostly springs from the fact that you never completely know what you will find inside. Nails, washers, hammers, weatherstripping - sure. But Guse's also has cleaning products, kitchen gear, puzzles, and t-shirts. That's right - you can buy a "Guse's Hardware" logo T-shirt! Betcha didn't think of that when you were walking by.Back to the kitchen gear. I've recently rediscovered my stove and am trying to be a touch more Happy Homemaker than I've been in the past. Thus, naturally, I need things like funnels and potato mashers. I've looked in kitchen stores, of course, but the prices are usually enough to send me back to frozen dinners. Not so a Guse's! I got said funnel for only 99 cents! My new potato masher? $4! Take that, Fancy Kitchen Store! My love of hardware stores may be somewhat unknown, but anyone and everyone knows my love of supporting local businesses. Guse's is exactly the kind of business you want to be supporting, too; the salespeople are cheery and helpful, and the store is clean and well-organized. This is what the corner hardware store in Mayberry looks like, folks. Finally, were possible to award a sixth star, I would give it to the wee white dog who inhabits the store. He's so quiet that you may not see him at first, but he's there, casually watching you stock up for your home-improvement project.

I cannot believe I am the first to sing the praises of Guse Hardware. This seemingly small corner hardware store has absolutely everything you could imagine. Every time I have stopped in with what I thought was an odd request, they smile and say right this way. They have things, or at least know where they are, that you will not find without a dog at Home Depot.Seriously folks, places like this are why we are on this web site. Guse Hardware is an absolute gem and I try to patronize them whenever possible. It will be a sad day if we lose these neighborhood entrepreneurs.

Recently moved to the neighborhood and stopped by last weekend. As noted, they have a great variety of helpful items specifically tailored to the age and nature of the older homes that surround it. I must have spent 30 minutes just going up and down the aisles to get a sense for all the stuff they carry that might be of use in future projects. Surprisingly, unlike other niche neighborhood hardware stores I've been to in the past, Guse's prices seem very fair.As an added bonus, they have a handyman (Tom) who will make house calls to do small projects for a very reasonable hourly rate.

they pretty much have anything you would want. And they are friendly and have been in the neighborhood forever. They know the kinds of problems old houses in s. mpls have, so it's not just a matter of having the product, they know that your sashes look like, and what kinds of locks you have on your windows. It's nice to get advice on stuff like this.Very understanding when you go in and say : I need a think that bends around the thing over by the sink thing, and they get it.

Great service, lovely atmosphere. I feel like I'm stepping into the '50s when I walk through the door (that's a compliment). The little guy behind the counter was very helpful and knowledgable, if not a little odd, he pointed me directly to what I needed and gave me some real solid advice to help me with my project. Guse Hardware has a great selection of parts and pieces for any repair project that you may have. The value is also outstanding. Great little neighborhood hardware store.

Wonderful service to get the things you need to fix those home projects. I love how they are listening and willing to help you every step of the way even if that means ordering it for you if they don't have it. So glad they are part of the fabric of the neighborhood and have parking in the back for their customers. Very biker friendly if you want to go on Bryant Ave and not drive. Also I didn't realize they have services on their website and referrals to other home businesses that can help if they can't. Thanks Guse! Will save all my hardware needs for you!
