Gruzys Italian Beef House & Pub

We were looking for a place to eat on the water. This for the bill and had good reviews. I ordered the Italian beef and my husband had the meatball sub sandwich. Both were delicious. Large helping. The service was wonderful both the bartender and waitress were very attentive. We enjoyed our table outside by the lake. The place could use a little TLC but wouldn't keep us from going back because everything else was on point.

Yelp for the win! I always check the app when I'm in an area where I'm unfamiliar with the restaurants. Once again, the Yelp reviews helped me find a restaurant we will certainly return to in the future.It was a Friday night. The large gravel parking lot was about half full. The building, overlooking Lake Pokegama, looked like many other up north bars. Walking in, I really wasn't sure if we were in the right place. Happily, we were.My dining partner and I sat at the bar. We were greeted right away by the bartenders and asked for our drink orders. The drinks had a great pour and were affordable. We were asked if we wanted to eat and promptly received menus.The menu had a lot of stuff. Appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and fish. Having read reviews I was leaning toward the beef sandwich, while my dining partner wanted pizza. When the bartender said those were her favorite menu items, we decided to get one of each to split among us. Good choice!The sandwich was packed with meat and cheese. I could have drank the au jus; it was so good. While it was $22 (with fries), it would have been a big sandwich for most people to finish.The pizza was fantastic. The only pizza I enjoyed more was from a place in Nashville. The crust was top notch. The toppings were generous and prepared well. My dining partner and I are big eaters; we still had four (4) big pieces left at the end of our meal (it was great cold).It wasn't nice enough to sit outside on their large patio during our visit. We plan on returning here frequently in the future and will give it a try (weather permitting).

Pizza would be a 9, IF their oven weren't so fucking dirty the crust/edges didn't taste like straight cancer. Service was awesome, atmosphere clean, prices beyond fair. Rosas pizza puff tasted like Pillsbury dough deep fried in chunks basted in garlic butter. Tasty af but missing mozz & pepp like menu read.

A few of us took a drive from our cabins to have some pizza here. We heard the pizza was amazing.We luckily got seated in a booth for six immediately. Friendly service! Our order took a little longer than I would have expected but we did order three pizzas. Once they did arrive, every one really enjoyed! The crust was thin, the sauce was savory.We enjoyed the place, the pizza and the company.

Gruzy's was a staple of our backwoods experience. It started with their phenomenal pizza and ended with a night of karaoke (500 Miles obviously my tune of choice). The wait staff were quirky and a perfect contrast to the 2008 aesthetic of this Chicago-home-away-from-home Italian eatery.

So I've been wanting to try this spot since I arrived in the Northwoods in late October but I missed the season until a week ago. Finally stopped out and decided to try the Italian Beef and a thin crust pizza. The Italian Beef sandwich was very good. The bun was toasted, plenty of gravy on the beef and a spicy giardiniera that I should have asked for extra. The melted mozzarella was the perfect addition. The meat was a little dry but it was definitely flavorful.I ordered the pizza just to check and see if it was as good as I've heard......it was. A great sauce that wasn't sweet or too tomato paste like. But the kicker is their sausage. Not too spicy, a good fennel flavor and plenty on it, combined with pepperoni, onions and green peppers made it to good to sit in the fridge until the next day. Gruzy's also has plenty of beers on tap or in the bottle and AMAZING lake views from inside or out on their expansive deck. Definitely worth stopping by if your in the Minong area......heck even worth an hour plus drive.

Great atmosphere! Good food! Great views!Everybody knows everyone! Serve staff very attentive! Easygoing and enjoyable!

We waited 1.5 hours for 2 lousy Italian Beef sandwiches on a Sunday nite. We were sitting outside and were told by the wait staff that we'd get our food after everyone INSIDE got theres. NEVER AGAIN! Food was good but the service was absolutely pathetic!

One of the best spots in the Northwoods! We stopped after golf and had lunch on the patio overlooking the lake. Italian beef sandwich to die for! Service is top notch! We will be back time and time again!!

Came by 4x4 and a friendly, fun server made our evening memorable and we enjoyed our time at Gruzys.
