We were here for a fundraising event at which we played a scramble. We weren't working off a score card so I'm not sure of length. The course was in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were well kept. There is a river that hugs a couple of holes to make it interesting. Other than one or two blind holes, as a first time player, the course was easy to understand where to hit. It was a challenging course. I enjoyed the variety or the holes. Staff was welcoming. The club house was able to accommodate our large group in the downstairs area. I am looking forward to come back and play my own ball.

I've now had the opportunity to play this course twice; the first time last Fall on a perfect afternoon, and the most recent this spring after a raging T-storm came through, flooded the course and cancelled our group outing. My buddy and I stuck around for 90 minutes enjoying a "morning" beer, when I wondered when they might re-open for play. They let us walk, and we were the only two people on the course that we could see. We took our time putting, and were still finished in 3 hours. What a great day of golf, and the course had drained quite well. The course is quite pretty, with six holes alongside the Crow River. There is some elevation change on several of the mid-holes, plus water/marsh hazards on seven holes. Only one of the holes is a bit funky -- the very short, downhill Par 3 15th, where as half a dozen holes are very pretty and interesting. There are only a few homes alongside several holes, so you to see a lot of green grass and trees most of the time. They do a great job of watering, the greens are receptive yet moderately fast and tricky in places, and there is generally a lot of room for tee shot landing areas. The pro shop is fairly small, with helpful staff, and there's a little snack bar with a nice seating area that worked well to weather the storm. 5 Stars for a solid layout with great conditions at a reasonable price.

Been here several times over the years and the course just keeps getting better. Beautiful rural setting. Nice staff and challenging holes. Worth the drive up from the cities.

I've played 12 courses this summer and Fox Hollow was in the best condition of all of them. We chose to ride but the course is very walkable. Speedy greens that hold your approach shots. Very picturesque!

Fox Hollow is a great golf course that doesn't receive nearly the acclaim it deserves. I have lived in Minnesota (southwest suburbs) most of my life, yet I had never heard of the course until we played it recently as part of a 3-day metro tournament. There are some visually stunning holes, with the Crow River running in the background on a number of holes. The course is challenging without being punishing. It's generally forgiving off the tee, yet there is plenty of water, trees, and OB to keep you honest. From a value perspective, it's excellent. Yes, it's a bit further outside the Metro area, but the weekday walking rate for 18 is currently $40. Their twilight (after 4 pm) is currently at $25.Considering how superior this course is to most of the public courses in the Metro, it should be near the top of your list to check out.

I like the layout overall. The nice thing about going out away from the city is the courses are more open, fewer houses, a more natural setting at a decent price. The bar is small but the menu is pretty big and they have a full bar.The two things that my playing partner had us scratching our heads was the location of the hole markers (the concrete things that tell you the distance from each box and show a layout of the hole). Usually not intuitive. Also, the layout/yardage was a bit confusing, it looks like they may have redone the course as some greens looked like you should be hitting to them, but then your green is over there. Also, the yardage was not always correct, and even our GPS was confused. That said, the fairways were in good shape, the layout interesting, and the greens fast! Made for a nice round. Also, there is a beer cart.

I recently planned an event here, and it was fine. The venue looked good--it was clean and the tables were nicely set, plus the employees were very nice to our guests. However, organizing the event was a little messy. There were a couple of us doing the planning and we were told different things about pricing. (I spoke with them on the phone and over email because I'm not local, but others planning the party were local so they went in person). The biggest issue I had was that they work exclusively with Russell's on the Lake for catering and if you go with a different caterer, they'll charge you $3/person fee. I worked for Russell when I was in high school and let's just say that if he has anything to do with the company anymore, I don't want to give him my money! We ended up just having Fox Hollow provide snacks (cheese/meat trays, raw veggies, crackers, fruit, coffee) and it was a whopping $600 for fewer than 100 people. Ouch. The bar was overpriced as we of course expected, but the beer was reasonably priced. I was pleased that they didn't kick us out immediately when the scheduled time was up. The room rental was very reasonable because our event was on a Sunday instead of Saturday, and it seems to be the nicest place for an event in St. Michael, which is why we chose the that venue. So if you have to organize a party in St. Michael and the Corner isn't nice enough, Fox Hollow is worth a look.

I love this course, Its the perfect risk reward layout with a mix of precision driving to give yourself a good angle to some greens (hole 16 & 7).The greens are great they roll true and fast but soft so if you can spin the ball good chippers will love these greens. The only thing I could complain about is on the par 4 there is a second cut to the fairway when you get to a 100 yds but this is just nitpicking.

This is a great course for the money, I played the back 9 and was struck by the quality and difficulty of this course. There are some really unique holes on the back that incorporate the river. If you like a more private setting than some of the other local courses and are up for a challenging round, definitely go to this course!

Great course. Friendly staff and loved that they had someone covering the course for sale of beverages, etc.
