El Molcajete Restaurante and Cantina

I came to this restaurant over a year ago. Was not left with the best first impression. I asked for extra cheese in my burrito and was given a slice of yellow cheese. When I complained about the cheese they told me I should have clarified what kind of cheese. Didn't realize I had to clarify I didn't want American sliced cheese on my Mexican burrito. I was the only one out of my group of 6 who was unhappy with the food this day. Everyone else had great food. They didn't charge me for my meal this day and remade my food without the yellow cheese so I shouldn't complain but this is my honest first time review. But my friends wanted to go back again a few days ago and I'm glad we did. Totally feel like this place redeemed themselves. I got the carnitas burrito and a pina colada. My gosh, it was delicious!! We sat outdoors and our waitress was very attentive and cracked a few jokes with us. She was great. There was lots of space for our door dining and it was a beautiful sunny day. I'd absolutely go again after this great experience!

If you like Mexican food - this is the best! If you are within a half hour (or heck, even further) of Delano it's worth the drive over. It's tucked away in an unassuming building, but don't let that question your decision! Spice level is the name of El Molcajete's game. The salsa that comes to the table even has a little kick. I ate an entire bowl and basket of chips by myself it was so good!Everyone that has been here (aka the entire town of Delano) raves about Jerry's Special Burrito (named after the owner). I was close to ordering it - but of course - I got the enchiladas. If you know me or read my reviews, I'm a creature of habit. I went with the tricolor to try every sauce (Mole, Tomatillo, and the Cheese Sauce that they are known for). I'm not a big Mole guy, but it was still tasty. Second favorite was Tomatillo (delicious). But WOW was the cheese sauce bomb. WHEN I go back, I'm getting all three that with the cheese. They do every dish by spice level. 5-10. I love spice and went with a 7... I'm not sure I'd go to a 10. My server called a 5 jalapeno level, a 7 habanero level, and a 10 ghost pepper level. Service was great. Food was better. I'd eat here TOO MUCH if I had the chance. Simply put - I'd take this over every Mexican place I've tried, and I seek out Mexican places frequently. Trust me. Try it and suffer being disappointed that it is only in Delano and you'll be putting many more miles on your vehicle to return.

I will definitely come back to this place. They were very good and reminded me of the Mexican food I would get when I lived in Texas. The service was very nice and helpful. This is by far my favorite Mexican joint in Minnesota and I've been to dozens.

I was surprised to fine decent Mexican food in Delano. I had to do an errand and craved Mexican and this was close. It's the standard complimentary chips and salsa when your seated. I got the chicken chimichanga. The salsa and chimichanga both had a kick to them. Not MN mild for sure. They had lunch specials so I took advantage of that. Parking is odd but there is a lot if you park in the back. They do have a small patio which would be great once the weather warms up.

So it was Cinco de Mayo & we needed to celebrate! This restaurant was recommended by a local runner that we met in Lake Rebecca Park. He was SO right! He also recommended the "Beer-ito"-which we had to try. 5 Stars for the recommends! Our server, Cody, was awesome! I didn't think I could get a good seafood chimi in Delano (I was wrong). It was worth it just for the light flavored fish in the chimichanga! Don't be discouraged by the exterior/interior of the building-TRY the food. Everything else will be unimportant.

I love this place! Very good and authentic Mexican food. I always recommend it to people near Delano looking for great Mexican food.

The food here is authentic and quite delectable. I personally recommend the Quesadillas Combinadas which includes one beef quesadilla and one chicken quesadilla. You are initially given a complementary bowl of tortilla chips with salsa however I recommend getting the Queso as an alternative to the salsa. The main issue with the restaurant is the service when ordering by phone. The orders will frequently get messed up and fine details such as the inclusion of lettuce will often be missed. Eating at the restaurant is certainly the best way to enjoy the food. The aesthetic there is unique to this restaurant, and it was recently redone.

Burritos are the star here. Very good home made salsa, but can vary in flavor and heat at times. Additional space added recently helps greatly. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

Recently renovated and comfortable atmosphere, very friendly staff! The food is amazing! I've been here several times and have never had a bad experience. This is my go to place when friends and family come to visit and they always request that we go back when they visit again. The food, I can personally recommend the pregnant burrito and the enchiladas! The bar, I always get the strawberry margarita and it's one of the best I've ever had.

There is not a better place to get the real Mexican spirit and authentic Mexican food than El Mojecete!! The staff and cooks are awesome and you just genuinely feel welcome!!!!Thanks guys
