El Jibarito Restaurant

SUNDAY AUG. 11th , 2024 is closing day for this Puerto Rican restaurant !! It's sad but LAST day ! Farewell !! You were so good to my family.

Was my first time going and everything was so delicious, I'm so glad I found a Jibarito place here in Mn and definitely did not disappoint! Really friendly and welcoming place. Would be returning

First of all, I love anything Puerto Rican especially food. However, I tend to be skeptical because I am pretty good with cooking my home country food. I have to say everything I ate was great. The pernil broke apart on the fork and was savory. I could have kept eating. The rice was excellent. Had a rich flavor that made me sink in my chair. Los maduros were perfect. Sweet!The service was outstanding however not sure if it was because we were the only ones there but it was good. I have been to El Jibarito maybe 1.5 years ago and was disappointed by the amount of time we had to wait for the food...about 30 minutes or more. I swore I would never go back. My son was visiting from colorado and insisted we have lunch there. I would like to return when they're busy and see if the service and time from ordering to serving has improved. The prices are fair for the amount of food you get and the place is casual and clean.

The only spot for authentic Puerto Rican food. This is definitely a hole in the wall but a very fun experience if you've never tried the cuisine. We ordered a bunch of things family style:Tostones - they were a little thicker than I would have liked but great flavor. Cheesy Yuca Balls - Soooooo Cheesy. Relleno de Papa - super tasty!Mofongo - so interesting and really good. Pro-tip: order with a side of broth!Rice w/Pigeon PeasLechon - this was the disappointment, unfortunately, it was super dry which was a huge bummer!! The beverages are all SUPER sweet so beware :)

I dream about the food at El Jibarito. Phenomenal Puerto Rican dishes and that Mofongo... get.in.my.belly. People are always nice. It's very much a hole in the wall, one I hope stays on Southview for years to come.

Outstanding food and amazing service! We drove 25 minutes for this place and it was worth it. Looking for some authentic PR food? This is is spot.

I highly recommend this restaurant! Im puertorrican and i went yesyerday with my family and i eat their delicious Bi-Mofongo with pork and it was great! It was so good that i got flashbacks eating in Puerto Rico the same plate cause the flavor was the same! They got the original receipe! Rice with pigeons with shrimp that my wife order it was really good too! If you want Puerto Rican food this si the place that you need to go! Thanks for all the staff from that restaurant they give us a really nice treat! God Bless this Place!

This place is out of business now. Had amazing food. Mofongo and yuca , service was always really nice too. Closed

This restaurant is entirely unassuming (small simple tables, cheap napkins, bottled water) but the food is delicious and different than what most restaurants! The hostess was very welcoming and helpful with the menu choices, since we hadn't tried Puerto Rican cuisine before. My grilled chicken with mufongo was cooked perfectly, and the beans dish with grilled pork that my friend had was very well seasoned too (very tasty but not hotly spiced). The prices are reasonable--most entrees around $15. We chose this place based on other reviews and we definitely would go back again.

Great Jibarito sandwiches! Run by very nice staff who cook to order so your food is fresh and tasty. If you haven't tried Puerto Rican cuisine, you can't go wrong with el jabarito.
