Gary is the MAN. I visited Hardware Hank after I had been turned away by two youths at the Home Depot who were unable to copy my broken key and suggested I try Hanks. The friendly individual at the desk took one look at the metallic smithereens that once formed a key and called Gary for backup. He calmly inserted the pieces into his trusty key machine and worked his magic for a few short minutes while I perused the light-up Minnesota Vikings totem pole section. Before I knew it, I had a fully functional key in my hand and was only $2.56 poorer! Gary saved me hours on the phone with my alarm company and who knows how much money to change locks. Gary's the kind of guy I'd want to grill some beef franks with on a Sunday after shooting some hoops. Thank you for being a key whisperer!

Wow! It was embarrassing to be so ignored. I stopped by quick to pick up some caulk. When I arrived I was ignored by a young man working the register when I said hello. Then when I brought the caulk to the counter there were three people behind the counter...the young man, a young woman, and an adult woman. The adult woman was helping someone with their keys, but the other two were doing some clerical things at the counter....I stood there and waited...and waited...maybe 2 min? Nothing was said to me...nothing! I haven't experienced this kind of apathy toward a customer. I walked out the door without saying anything....leaving the product at the counter. I would like to support small businesses, but I won't if I'm not appreciated. HomeDepot is where I ended up.

This business has the best customer service that I know of. Why the four stars? TWO THINGS. 1. Their prices are a bit on the expensive side, yes, their direct competitor is the Wal-Mart just right in front of them, about 100 yards away. 2. They offer no military, AAA, or senior discount on services or purchases. I go in for their customer services however.

One of the few hardware stores left. Always have what I am looking for and never have to wander around to find someone like home depot. A little expensive but that is to be expected. You can rent a lawn aerator, drop your lawn mower off to get fixed, find an obscure bolt, and by bait all at the same store.

Took our lawnmower to be repaired a couple weeks ago, today, the third mow since it was repaired, a wheel fell off. The most they could say was bring it back in. It wouldn't have been quite so aggravating if they hadn't charged more than twice as much as I was quoted on the phone. The actual repair seems to have been done well.

I've been going to this hardware store for 30 years. When I don't know what to do, I ask one of the "veterans" for help and they have always been willing to spend the time in a good brainstorming session. And I prefer their service when I need my snowblower tuned up or shears sharpened. I have never been ignored there. I've never regretted relying on their collective experience when it comes to tackling repair and maintenance jobs around my house.

A favorite. The customer service here is amazing. I can't count the number of times I've come in asking for something and a cheerful employee has said, "yep, right over here" and walked me over to the right knobs, brooms, canning jars, lights, zip ties, garden hose, paint, 3M hooks, gloves... No matter how obscure my request, and, astonishingly for a little, easy to navigate store, they always seem to have what I need. Easy parking, easy shopping, an all around pleasant experience too rare in shopping these days.

Stopped by the Eagan store to get their help in finding out the lost combinations for two MasterCraft locks. I had looked at the MasterCraft website and got the phone number and instructions that told me to take the locks to a MasterCraft retailer and they would call MasterCraft and get the combinations for me. The guys at the store had never done this before, but they energetically called and after exchanging identification information, they were able to get me the combinations for my two locks. Saved me money not to buy new ones and they did not charge me for taking the time to call MasterCraft and get the information. Great customer service and a pleasure to do business with them. Will be back every time I need help.

Worst customer service experience I have ever had. Do not shop here. The machine shop at Hardware Hank is horrible. Frank and Kevin scrapped our WORKING John Deere snow blower without our permission. When we called to come pick it up, they let me know they "couldn't find it" and to call back the next day. When we called to say we were on our way they let us know they had scrapped it. They tried to tell us that we gave them permission (We had asked them to keep it, do not touch it). They did not offer a solution, did not apologize. They were able to get it back from the scrapper (lucky them). They then called us to demand we pick it up less than 24 hours after getting is back, even though we had clearly noted what day we would be coming to get it on the original phone call; they again tried to say we told them something different. We ended up changing our schedule to get it; picked it up and saw they had taken all the gas from it; then had the audacity to claim "you dropped it off without gas" (which we had a full tank of premium in it when we dropped it off.) We haven't been able to test it yet to see if it still works, which we wanted to do at the pickup because I have a huge lack of trust with their services. They don't listen, they try to put words in your mouth, don't take responsibility and apparently don't know what customer service is. Avoid this store at all costs.
