The course is. 5-star play...not overbearing crowned greens or holes that feel smashed into the course...long holes with minimal lost balls as there's few thick wooded areas. The atmosphere is well, old...no cuties on the course selling beer or playing it...if straight forward golf with a greens Marshall to keep pace of play fast, where the median age is 55 then it's perfect for you...I liked the course just depends on what atmosphere you want.

Dwan is one of the best kept courses around. Not super technical but long enough fairways that you'll need to have some nice drives to keep you in the game. I've played here a few times and I do think it's one of my favorites. If you don't have time for 9 holes, I believe it's $34 with cart included. Also during COVID-19 they sanitize all carts after each use.

Treated well today despite reservation problem and found this to be a great course. My brother and I showed up without reservations (we thought we had, but no matter); the manager and starter were both very accommodating to us and matched us with a great guy golfing alone. A challenging course that is in part beyond my skill level but a great experience nonetheless. Many sand and water challenges. The Southern end of the course borders with a farm, which adds to the ambience. We played 9 holes for $21.00, which was an outstanding deal.

Beautiful course, but.... Upon arriving the manager who I assume name is Karen, was micromanaging every interaction with every person before us while waiting in line. All of which were completely unnecessary. Then we find out they charge full price for just a ride along. Weird coming from just a community course. Also tried to get a drink on the course only to find out they don't sell alcohol, only piss 3.2 beer. Also is a tobacco free course (what?) with no bathrooms on course. (what??) After reading other reviews I see others have experienced the same vibe. So if you don't mind dealing with smug "want to be" elitist vibes, the course itself is nice.

I was running late by 3 minutes. Then some guy by the reviews I'm assuming his name is Bill. This was my first time here and it's didn't start good. Bill decided to talked down on me like a child cause I was 10 mins late, but really I was 3. Although, by the the time he was done it was ten minutes for a timeframe that I made and paid for. I paid for 2 golfers with 2 carts. My kid had his girlfriend with. Apparently their are no spectators allowed or she has to pay. But before all that went down bill seen my kid and his girlfriend get the cart and didn't say anything til we got back from our car all loaded up to golf. So at that moment I decided to get my money back! I will not be told I'm late and be sold 2 carts and 2 golfers for 9 holes by staff inside that know that we can't have spectators. All 3 of us went up to front desk to pay. Never coming back and by the reviews already I see why. #NomoreBILL

My husband planned a 9 hole golf outing for the two of us to play on my birthday. We were greatly looking forward to it, as he got us a babysitter to have a few hours to ourselves which is a rare treat! When we arrived we were told we would be coupled with another twosome which was fine. The four of us enjoyed playing the first 4 holes together. After that it was awful. A worker drove a cart up to us and told us we were playing too slow and had to pick up the pace. (The couple we were paired with was an older couple but they were hitting the ball great!). After he confronted my husband and I to play faster, we said you guys paired us with this couple which is the reason it's taking a little longer, and we were playing at a good pace, especially considering their age. After that the man in the cart followed directly behind us for every shot to make sure we were golfing at the appropriate pace. And i mean, directly behind us! I was so nervous and rushed I didn't take any practice swings and was literally running to each shot. The man in the cart was still behind us reminding us we were being too slow. It was not enjoyable one bit! After rushing through 2 holes like this the man in the cart said on the 7th hole we must tee off 100 yards from the green. My husband was confused, he said sir i can hit 250 yards, you would know because you've been following my every move for the last 2 holes! He said it didn't matter, we had to tee from 100 yards away. He was extremely rude, i was getting so irritated and upset at how this golf outing was going we just left without golfing our last 3 holes. The second half of the golf outing was not fun in the least bit! All they want is to rush people through the course so they can jam as many people in a day and make a buck. They have no regards to people paying good money and wanting to have an enjoyable golf outing. The funny part is, when my husband confronted the management on how they ruined our birthday golf outing we got 2 vouchers to come back! Why would we ever want to come back when it was the worst golf outing we've ever experienced?

I walked in to play a round of 9 holes and everything was ok until I ran into Gary the stared. I advised that I would like to walk and not be paired and he stated that I had to wait 1 hour to play by myself. I said I understood and I sat in the patio area of the club house watching people tee off on #1. Once my time came around Gary directed me to start and when I was about to tee of he screamed over from the starter box. '' you got a ticket?" I responded how do you mean? He yelled again "did you pay? " I said of course why else would I wait an hour to play. At that moment I felt extremely uncomfortable since he didn't ask anybody that was golfing this question. I than approached him and asked him why would he ask me that if he didn't ask anyone else. He looked dumbfounded and said the computer system. What ever that means especially since the nice ladies at the welcome desk clearly stated that I didn't need a ticket and that the system would show I paid. I asked him again and he couldn't say anything except that he apologized. I walked back to the tee box to tee off but by this point I felt extremely uncomfortable with the situation. I went inside to talk to the Manager (Peter) but he wasn't in the office. I told the young lady at the desk what happened and she stated that she could refund me and that the best she could do was give me a rain check for the misunderstanding. I asked her for Peters information and she gave me his card. I left him a voicemail regarding the situation. I'm hoping to here back when he gets back in office. Gary was not only rude but also had another intention when asking me if I paid. When I advised him that I would let the management know about his behavior he told me "Do whatever you want" how can a member of the community be allowed to treat people this way. I have golfed at Dwan multiple times and this experience has pushed me to never return to play there again. I will be sharing my experience on other review boards as well.

Well what can I say about Dwan...the course is roughly 5500 yards, par 68 I believe, so don't go there thinking you're about to play Bethpage Black. If your handicap is less than 18, it won't be overly challenging. I'd say you almost have to try to lose a golf ball. Greens roll okay, but not overly fast, so swing away once you put it on the dance floor. Fairways are fine, and rough is cut pretty short so the duffers can move around the course in a half ass decent pace. Easy course to walk and if you ride here I'm assuming you strapped a keg to the cart. Clubhouse is like most city buildings in Bloomington; old, unimaginative and in dire need of a face-lift. Inside staff, head pro and cook staff are all really cool people and treat you well. The same can not be said for the starters and rangers. To describe them as ass hats is being nice. The fossils that work outside must think the job description is to chase everyone away. Anyone that is getting paid to be that big of a prick must have pictures of the mayor in compromising situations. If you're looking to tune up your game, squeeze in a quick round (do that early in the AM fyi) it's not bad. If your looking for award winning service from the outside staff do yourself a favor kick yourself in the nuts, as it'll be cheaper and more pleasurable experience than dealing with those tools.

Sadly this course has let me down in many ways. I bought a house a literally an 8 iron away, and rarely play it. Every time I have gone it has been an absolute hassle to get paid and tee'd off on time. Then when you show up to the starter late, you'll get to hear about it. Playing a five hour round on a 5500 yd course is a bit of a joke, it is obvious the patrons are not regulated much. Given their strict last tee time is at 4:30 during the week, it is nearly impossible to get a champagne round in during the week. Also, I yearly apply to play in their men's league, not once have I ever been placed on a team... Even when I send an email inquiring. One of a select few good things about this course is that if you hit even a 250yd drive, you are flipping in wedges from 50 yds or less on every hole. Course upkeep is also legit, but as pretty as that fairway grass is, it looses its appeal when waiting 15 minutes on every approach. I am only giving this a two star due to course quality.

Play it often, very professionally managed by in house and starter staff. Course is kept very well, players keep it in top shape, very careful. Gene is a great starter tough but fair. Very busy but generally plays pretty good tempo !You can't go wrong at Dwan.
