Drake's is a very odd location inside an apartment/elder care complex. Other than that, the interior is somewhere between a bar and a standard restaurant.Food was just mediocre. The Wild Rice Cranberry Turkey Sandwich was OK, nothing stellar. Comparable to something you'd make yourself at home, while served with a very underwhelming sized side of sweet potato fries. Not something I'd give a ringing endorsement, but could probably do worse.

Drakes Fine Food & Spirits is an inconspicuous bar and restaurant attached to senior apartments near Country Manor in Sartell. It's a bit hard to see as it's tucked into a corner behind a parking garage. Follow the signage for parking. It's a nice concept - having a nice restaurant near senior housing, apartments and assisted living, so that family members have a place where they can take their loved ones for a decent meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with wood and stone. There are a couple of televisions, above the fireplace. There's a bar. There's a separate room, if you want a gathering space for your family for a special event. The menu is pretty extensive - burgers, wraps, breakfast, steak, chicken, salads, sandwiches, soup, and more. We ordered a Rachel sandwich and a breakfast wrap. Both were tasty enough. My fries were a bit soggy, and the crust on the marbled rye bread was overly crisp. The hashbrowns served with the wrap were nice and crisp. Our server provided attentive and friendly service. The restaurant is small and intimate. This is nice, unless you have some loud talkers seated near you (as we had). Their loud talking made it very difficult for my beloved and I to have a decent conversation and be able to hear. All in all, Drakes is a nice option to have. The food was better than I expected. I'd certainly give it another try. They do offer daily specials, and on occasion, have live music.

If you have time to waste this is the place for you. Service is so SLOW like the slowest I've ever experienced. When walking in there is no sign as to if you seat yourself or not... after waiting a moment someone told us to pick a spot. We ordered an appetizer that never came. After reminding the server he had to check on it and they were out of that option. So they did say we could pick out any other appetizer for free. That was very nice, however that appetizer came after we were done eating! The food all tasted good but not worth the time.

This is not "fine dining". Bewilderingly located in the main level of an apartment or condo complex, tucked back in a residential neighborhood. It's a destination location not worth the effort to find. The entrance has all the charm of an unflushed toilet. The interior, while clean and new, is decidedly downscale in finishes. The main dining room attempts to emulate a non-sports bar interior, but then blows it with a large, central tv playing Fox News, 24/7. Really?! The menu is pub fare you can find in any of 10 restaurants within 3 miles. The cocktails, at 3 bucks, taste like a 3-dollar cocktail. The liquor is mid-shelf at best, the taps are domestic and there is no no local, or craft beer.We came to just sample a sandwich, (we were not hungry), so we asked to split and were told we would have to pay a plate charge for two 1/2 sandwiches.Un-flipping-believeable. We declined. We left and went to Old Capital, in Sauk Rapids.I give this "fine dining" wannabe 3 months. Sad.
