My fiancee is from a Mexican family and so we go to a lot of bakeries like this in the Twin Cities and in Milwaukee (where her family is from). This is hands-down the best one I've been to in terms of selection, value and service.I've tried about 6 different sweet breaks and all are delicious although my favorite are the molasses ones shaped like a pig. Fiancee also likes the bolillo which are basically the Mexican sandwich bread. They are a big bigger and softer than a french bread and are delicious. They have plain ones and also ones that are in the cases and are stuffed with cream cheese and jalapenos. Delicious! Finally, we only go here for birthday cakes anymore as the tres leches are the best I've ever had.On all of these items, the price is what stands out. If you went to a high-end grocery store and got a bunch of sweet breads, regular bread and a full, massive tres leches cake, you'd be in for way over $100. Here, you're way under $100. It's nice to come to a place and feel like they're not trying to rip you off and that's how I feel here. Finally, a shout out to the workers here. Always the same folks and always super friendly and helpful. You're fine to come if you don't speak Spanish as well, so don't be shy!

I will continue to love this bakery because of the quality of seer bread. It's always a treat getting the jalapeño cream cheese filled bread which sell out fast, but I'm glad they still restock them. I've also gotten birthday cakes from here and have loved their 3 leches. It's an affordable place compared to what I would of paid for at Whole Foods for example. Service is always great and they also give great recommendations!

My favorite bakery in Saint Paul! As a pan dulce aficionado, I have to say this is my go-to panadería when in Saint Paul. They are located right on César Chávez Street, what i consider the heart of the Mexican community in west Saint Paul. The prices are very affordable, bread is made with higher quality ingredients (you can taste and feel it) and service is great too. I would recommend stopping by early if you want to see the extensive variety of goodies they have! They also have fresh tres leches cakes ready to take for your special occasion. My favorite is cupcake looking pastry that has a cheesecake top and inside has jam, don't know the name but this is the only bakery that I've found them at-- SO GOOD!! If you're in the area, check them out :)

Love love love their pan dulce(sweet bread)!! My gf's family is Mexican and they always ask us to bring bolillos, cake and conchas when we're visiting them in Northfield. There variety is outstanding and everything always seems so fresh and I love it! If they sold hot chocolate as well, I would seriously never leave haha. Everytime I go, there's always folks leaving with multiple bags of bread, so safe to say they're the real deal.

My friend and I came in for a quick breakfast fix. The bakery is relatively small but basically you could go in with a blindfold and pick something and you will love what you picked. They have a variety of items from churros, muffins, donuts, to more traditional Items that I don't know the names of because not everything is labeled. But seriously, I loved every bite of every thing that I sampled. And what made the whole morning better was while we were shopping, they brought out items fresh out of the back! We were able to select from the cart. Warm, delicious, and the perfect breakfast to pair with a cup of coffee before work! Would highly recommend this bakery for your sweet tooth!

Had I known what an ice rink the roads were, I might have passed on the pastries today, but I didn't and either did the droves of cars at the bakery. My parents gave me a coupon for $5.00 off @ Don Panchos. I think they thought I had purchased the croissants I brought them previously from Don Panchos, when in fact they were from Trung Nam.This is cute, and what looks to be family run bakery over in the Del Sol district. They have cases of freshly baked, inviting pastries and cakes.I love the smell of bakeries. They were bringing pans of fresh made loaves of french bread and dumping into a bin in the front. I wasn't clear on whether or not I should help myself, so I asked and the young boy pointed me to the baskets sitting on the counter. I wasn't too jazzed about using those- they looked kind of dirty, so I just lined it with some of the bakery tissue paper, took the tongs and purchased the following:- 3 churros which were nothing spectacular.-2 plain croissants which were ok. A little heavy and not light and fluffy like Trung Nam-1 cream cheese (I think) croissant which was delicious- 2 sugar donuts - chocolate filled empanadaand something that looked like a biscuit. Not quite sure about that thing yet. I'll have J try that one. Most of the items are labeled w/ prices. For all that with coupon it came to only $5.75 which was pretty cheap.Glad I tried it, but honestly I think I'll have to stick to the heavenly croissants at Trung Nam.. This place is worth a visit though.

Don Panchos is a great bakery and one of my personal favorites. The selection is vast and the flavors are plentiful. The best part about the bakery is uniqueness. You won't find a maple bacon long john or a jelly filled bismark at this bakery. They offer cookies, donuts, pastries, cakes and much more. This bakery can customize and create multi-layered cakes for any special occasion. I enjoy the self service of this bakery. No need to tell an employee behind the counter what and how many of something you want. Walk in, grab a basket near the register and start loading it up with the delicious treats. Once your conscious kicks in or if your basket gets full bring it up to the register to check out. Both cash & card are accepted. The bakery has an open floor plan with the glass cases holding the pastries along the sides of the wall. The only downside is the seating. Inside of the bakery doesn't have anywhere to sit. You won't be able to sit down with a cup of coffee and enjoy your donut in this bakery. One last thing...don't worry if you don't speak Spanish. It's self serve so you don't need to know the names of the items. Just find what looks delicious and add it to your basket. The cashier also speaks English and they are very friendly.-J
