Don Goyo is a fun, authentic, and reasonably priced restaurant serving Salvadoran and Mexican food. I stopped by after hanging out in the Fridley area one day after work a few weeks ago.The place is rather large and when I was there it was serving as just a restaurant, but it definitely had the appearance that there are parties and more club like vibes at specific times of day. The servers were all extremely friendly, and very kind. I was waiting for a few friends to join me at my table, and while I was waiting, the waitress checked in on me a number of times and repeatedly refilled my water. Each day of the week they have a "daily special" in which a regular menu item is priced much cheaper for that day of the week. I came in on a Thursday and so that dish was pollo guisado. And so, you know I had to try it. First, the dish was massive and only ~$10. I had enough for my meal and lunch the next day which is unbeatable at that price. The chicken was very tender and the sauce was super flavorful. I highly recommend this dish!I'll definitely be back to check out some of their other specials and get some pupusas!

My daughter favorite place to order Mexican food. Ever since I took my cousin out for his birthday and ordered the fried fish, he had entire fish by the way plus a plate of rice, beans, and salsa. Also tortillas for very reasonable price. We've been ordering to go since. Service is usually fast, once you call in the order, the last will say 15 minutes but it's usually done prior. Big portions at this restaurant. The restaurant itself is medium size, they have a live band performing during weekend evenings.

So I discovered Don Goyo in St. Anthony what feels many years ago and was searching them up again and saw that this location was available. I figured I'd give it a shot and drive a bit more up north. I have to say I was very impressed with how big the place is compared to the other place and also that they have a bar area and host music groups! I was so so happy to see the menu offers pictures and a bigger variety in meats. For example I was able to get lengua which is so rare to find ! I only know if one other place. The tacos were great portions and my gosh the fish was so delicious and flavorful ! They offer so many cocktails and they all look really good. I loved how colorful the place was and how spacious. Since this place is closer to me I'll be coming here more! Service was great and we were able to get our food pretty quickly.

Friday mid afternoon lunch with coworkers, and this place was recommended by our boss. She had been here before with family. She gets our office out of the typical American food joints that we order from (pizza and sandwiches) and makes us try new cultured dishes (Korean, Thai, Vietnamese). So today, it was authentic Mexican and Salvadoran.I've lived in Blaine for almost 20 years and have not thought of stopping in to try this restaurant in a little strip right on 65. Yes, it's visible from the road, but the side access to get into the parking lot is a little weird. Drive slow around the corner of the building because you're blind to anyone backing out of their parking space. The building signage just says Mexican and Salvadoran restaurant, not that it's a BAR AND GRILL. It's not much of a sidewalk appeal, but it transforms to welcoming once inside. It's a large space for dining, or you could sit at the bar. And there looked like a back room for larger parties ~40 people). Our waiter was great. He had some humor and helped us with menu questions. Free chips and salsa were brought to the table. Margaritas were ordered first. I was the only one to get it flavored (melon) and liked that it wasn't too strong. (The world wasn't spinning by the time it was gone. I dislike that feeling.)Then came food. Boss ordered Mar Y Tierra, a steak and shrimp dish in a spicy sauce. There's a picture in the menu but it looked better in person. Came with rice, beans, lettuce, salsa, guac, and tortilla. I got a sample. The steak was soft and melted in my mouth. Nic got a chicken filled tamale. And birria tacos. Shan got chicken fajitas. I love it when they come out streaming and sizzling. The same sides: rice, beans, lettuce, salsa, guac, plus sour cream. I also got the birria tacos, recommended by my boss. You get 3 of them and also the consomme soup the beef is cook in. It came with 2 creme salsas in little plastic containers. The green was slightly spicy. The orange one was super spicy. But I have a low tolerance for heat. Boss didn't think they were spicy at all. I also ordered a side of rice and beans. The birria tacos were amazing. When the waiter came to ask his things were going, I think I said they were "life changing." How am I ever going to go back to regular tacos at americanized Mexican restaurants?? I gave a piece of shredded beef to Shan to try. Now she doesn't do ANYTHING spicy (not even the green peppers in her fajitas), and it made her choke. Here, I thought the spiciness was from the salsa, but it was in the flavor of the beef. Oops, I felt bad for doing that to her. And the rice and beans were fine. They completed the meal. So to sum this up, I will be shouting about this place to anyone who will listen. If you like Acapulco, then you'll love Don Goyo. It's way better than that place!

HMMMM where do I start I was in the mood for some pupusas and remembered about this place when I would drove by it. Decided to give it a shot and bring my family with me about 9 people. Since I remembered the place was kinda of small and I had a couple people with me I called 30 mins before to see if they had a table. The lady said no but said we will get one ready. We showed up, got seated right away and got our drinks right away as-well very friendly staff. The restaurant is very quiet maybe because we were sitting in the back but it was nice. There was music but wasn't loud where you have a nice conversation with someone in front of you. We Started off with some cheese dip because my daughter and I are feen's for it.. .. They do give you chips and salsa but don't expect it to be the Chunky one because it's not, but it's good and mild. For our entrees this what we got:Pozole (Chicken)Con tostadas. Your choice of chicken or pork.(not your typical pozole but very meaty) 7/10Tortas CubanaBreaded Chicken. Hot dog. Ham. Beans. Lettuce. Tomatoes. Jalapeños. Onions. Avocado. (Pretty fresh not greasy like other places first time trying a cubana with chicken instead of breaded steak) 10/10Pupusa RevueltasCheese. Pressed Pork. Red Beans (Comes with side of Curdido and salsa roja) 10/10Pupusa Cheese (feels plain maybe because it's just cheese but still very good) 8/10Birria PupusaCheese. Beef Birria. (I didn't even know they made these Comes with side of Curdido and salsa roja) 10/10Churrasco SalvadorenoMixture of rice, beans, pico, avocado, chorizo, jalapeno, fried onion, beef. 9/10Carne Asada TacosSteak. (Comes with cilantro, onion and green and red salsa on the side) 7/10Birria Quesatacos Shredded Beef. Cheese. Cilantro. Onions. Side of Consomé. (Red and green Salsa on the side) 8/10Kids Chicken FingersChicken Tenders. Fries. 8/10Cheese DipCheese and Chips. (different than other restaurants) 9/10 Here are some of the drinks we ordered:Sex on the beach9/10Cuba Libre8/10Michelada(You can choose whatever beer you prefer but I went with modelo) 7/10Horchata9/10Overall experience was nice don't come in expecting a fancy place, It's just alittle hole in the wall restaurant with horrible parking but really good food. Will be back!

The old adage "don't judge a book by its cover" definitely applies here. It was very nice and clean inside, the service was excellent. We tried the beef fajitas and a chimichanga both were really good as was the guacamole. I feel it's a little pricey but most places are these days at least you're getting quality ingredients and good service for the money. They also have a large menu with several other items that I'll go back to try.

Recently ordered birria tacos from Don goyo. When we tried the tacos it was VERY salty and inedible. I have previously ordered the same meal from here multiple times, so I know how it should taste. My wife and I really loved this location, but after how we were treated we are never returning to this location. The lady at the front accused us of lying and was very rude. We requested for them to remake the birria taco, but the lady at the front refused to take our order unless we ordered a different meal. After requesting a refund, we were told it would take 3-4 business days to receive a refund. It's been weeks, and we never received our money back.

Not sure I agree with others. Went to the Spring Lake Park location last night. It was karaoke night and the sound was so loud both my and my wife's watches went off several times. Food was so-so, I had the Camarones Al Ajo. Shrimps were small, not much meat, and a lot of outer shell to deal with. The churros in the ice cream dessert were overly soaked with grease. The margarita's were good though. Won't be heading back unfortunately. The server was very nice though.

I can keep this simple:Food: Tamales Salvadorenos; Churrasco Salvadoreño. You could tell the Tamales were homemade.
