Great track in the western suburbs. It's fairly wide open despite all the townhouses built on the fairways. It's pretty hard to hit any homes unless it's a really terrible shot. There's not a lot of hazards so play is fast. Definitely 4 hours or less. All the carts have GPS and they are well maintained. You can order food at the turn because the cart brings up the menu on hole 7. Very cool! The staff here is very friendly. The food is excellent with great brats and hot dogs. There's also an Irish pub that I didn't check out but will next time.

Nice to see Deer Run earning great reviews here on Yelp. As of 2023, Deer Run is a solid value at $59 for walking 18 holes.Contrast that with Bluff Creek in Chaska being ~ $46 and not being nearly the golf course that Deer Run is.I put Deer Run a notch or two below Chaska Town Course in course condition, design, and natural beauty, but Town Course currently charges $75 - $80 to walk 18. It can also be more challenging to get a tee time at Town Course vs. Bluff Creek. As public courses in the west metro go, let's call Deer Run a 7.5/10, Town Course a 9/10, Bluff Creek a 4/10.As others have said, Deer Run is a good course in a great area. While there are a lot of homes on the course, I don't feel like they ever detract from the experience. In fact, it's nice to look at some of the attractive homes and gardens while walking to your ball or between shots.Deer Run is kept in great condition for a public course. It is a good test of your golf game (especially if you spray the ball off the tee, like me), but you can score out there. The back tees are 6,326 yards, so that may not be enough for some long hitters. But I hear they may be creating a new set of tees with some more length.Of note: you will face a lot of OB on this course. My friend said they have OB on 15 of 18 holes. This notches up my anxiety a bit, as we play the OB rules by the book! But I don't think the OB is ever unfair or enormously difficult to avoid. If you can avoid the Big Miss, you will avoid OB.

Very nice course with helpful staff. Lots of tricky greens and beautiful water hazards. Nice bar area to unwind on the patio or inside. GPS on carts. Found some good deals on golf shoes and shirts. Classy place in an upscale area.

I absolutely love this course. It is always in great condition, the staff is friendly and the greens challengingly fast. On top of it all, an irish pub inside to quench your thirst before/during/after your round. Two thumbs up from this guy!

This is such a great place, I might be a little bias since it's right by my house. It's a great golf course. There is a small clubhouse but friendly staff and good pub food in the bar and grill. They have a nice outdoor patio to sit on as well after a long game of golf. Highly recommended!

Played this course on vacation. Great price and course is in great shape. Seemed pretty playable even for a hack like me. Just try to not hit a house or a cat. Staff was nice, they had food too.

My brother and I are from Texas and visited the Minneapolis area for a few days. We played Deer Run while there and found the course to be in great shape, with a wonderful track, and exceptional staff. The holes are laid out well without any "gimmicky" distractions. Very nice golf carts with GPS. We loved playing this course and see no reason why you wouldn't either!!

Top public track in Minnesota. Top notch maintenance, greens are true, no gimmick holes, scenic, fun, and enjoyable place to play a round of golf. It's the way it should be. Staff all the way around is clearly a focus at this facility, they're all helpful and service oriented, clearly a focus for the brand. You'll love playing here, I did.
