Columbia Heights VFW Post 230

Having lived in the area for a few years, my husband found this place recently and was immediately impressed by their staff/customer service, tasty bar food, and the ambiance of just a relaxed, laid back presence. I met him there and quickly agreed! The prices of the bar food cannot be beat and they have meat raffles as well as many other events. The staff were so kind and explained how the VFW works and how they support military personnel and veterans. I will say the entry was confusing as you had to buzz in and wait to enter, then sign but I can understand with it being a VFW, they want to track who comes in and what percent is military personnel/veterans. Would recommend visiting and grabbing a meal and a beer, tasty and affordable! And the staff are always welcoming and happy to chat!

The people there are friendly and polite. Free parking and no cover charge. The drinks are affordable, and the staff totally awesome.

Oh my God, Columbia Heights VFW Post 230 was actually mind-blowing. Glad we stumbled in here. Every thing we got was excellent and the menu itself was to die for. The staff was really nice and friendly. Bon appetite.

This is one of my fave VFWs around Mpls (although there aren't many). Pulltabs, DAYTIME bingo on Mondays, and Marino's Italian food on the menu. A couple decent TVs for sports and cheap drink prices.

I've been to this VFW twice now, and just got duke, NICE! My dad is a big fan of the pork tenderloin sandwich which they serve here only on the first Saturday of the month, so I've been joining him. Why on the first Saturday of each month you ask ? My anwser, who the fuck know's. Any ways these sandwiches are quite tasty and only $4 a pop, they have a dinner option that includes a baked tater and cole slaw which i think is 6 or 7 dollars, but thats it, thats all they serve that night for dinner. I know they have other dining option's during the week, I've seen advertized outside the place. I'm guessing the food options are limited then also. Why do us none veterans go to VFW's? Holy shit the cheap fucking drinks!!!! I bought a round of 4 drinks the total was $11.50. If your lucky you could get 2 drinks for that price at some other neighborhood bar. This VFW also offer you the usual entertainment, pull tabs, karaoke,neighborhood drunks and derelicts, need I say more.

Wow. My two daughters, stepson, son in law and two grandchildren were there this week. Adults played bingo and children played on iPads. The people playing bingo there were so kind and helpful! The Bloody Marys were fantastic and the beers really cheap and delicious! We ate pizza which was yummy. First time here- what a great community of people. I was wondering how this place got 4.5 stars but I think that's too low! Bingo caller, staff and bartender were fantastic. A rare gem. Thank you to those who served- I am in awe of your welcoming VFW.

I'm a veteran but you don't have to be one to stop in here. Cocktails are affordable and there are food specials on Friday and Saturday. The 1st Saturday of each month features a pork tenderloin meal and the 3rd Sunday features breakfast. See you there!

We came here because we heard the pork tenderloin sandwich was excellent and it was. Just need to stand in line if you want a drink....of any kind......even water.

It's a cool place to go. The smoking patio is really good year round, and it has t.v.s. They have a kitchen and heggies pizza. Pull tabs are an option. Also live music, meat raffle and bingo.
