Coco's Place

I love coming to this place. I was craving a sweet treat and haven't had plátanos fritos in a long time! They were very delicious and I was also able to check out the store they have next door and it's filled so many authentic goodies. From gift bags to molcajetes, spices, piñatas and so much. It's an awesome place to check out.

I was in the area and decided to swing by Coco's place to grab a quick bite and say hi to the friendly owners. To my dismay, they've expanded their brand and added Coco's Market right next door to the restaurant. AND IT'S SO FRICKEN COOL INSIDE!! You can find almost anything in there and it's a great place to get authentic Mexican souvenirs such as hats, keychains, belts, aprons, and so much more. Apart from that they also sell grocery items like avocados, limes, rice , canned items, rice, tomatoes etc... and get this, you can even send money to different countries!! The true definition of a one-stop-shop! TALK ABOUT DECOR!! This place will uplift your spirit from the moment you enter through the double doors. I love how much attention they put into making the space feel and look stunning. One a cold wintery day like today, the little things like this matter most. Seating area is nice and the noise level was adequate with a touch of Mexican cumbia music! I wasn't really in the mood for meat and I love that their expansive menu can accommodate my peculiar eating patterns lol. I started off with a HOT bowl of Mexican Menudo, then a plate of Mexican rice, beans and tortillas on the side with cheese inside.. Y-U-M-M-Y!!! This was followed by a platter of picadas (that I shared with my partner), a cup of Mexican prepared corn (esquite) and washed it all down with a glass of horchata! Overall it was to die for! I've spent a good chunk of time in Cuernavaca, Mexico and the food here reminds me so much of the food there. Coco's roots trace back to Maltrata, Vera Cruz in Mexico and I love how they've blessed the community here with a taste of home. It's located in the heart of Northfield on a strip that can be considered their downtown, so there's lots of petite mom and pop shops that you can browse. Decent amount of parking in the front area, otherwise you can also swing in the back of the building and find more parking. Going to Coco's is now a routine whenever I'm in Northfield and one that I can get used to :) Fast service + family-oriented + hot and freshly made food = Coco's Place. Once again, I left a happy camper ;)

Exceptional little place in downtown Northfield - all of the food was good, but the MOLE was out of this world!!My daughters and I ate there two days in a row. We had enchiladas, tamales, tacos, and that incredible chicken and (pork) rib mole. I've had my share of mole before - this was the BEST!The chicken enchiladas with green sauce were just the epitome of comfort food - so delicious. The tamales were also fantastic! We won't get to Northfield as often as we have, but I'd drive there just for their wonderful food!! ‍

Best Mexican food I've had in Minnesota. That said, Minnesota doesn't have good Mexican food. I was excited to see birria tacos on the menu, and they were delicious. A bit greasy, but the consommé was SO good. Service was quick and the menu is expansive. I wish they'd update their website to reflect the 4-5 additional posters full of items they offer in the restaurant. My friend got the carne asada burrito which she thought was decent but not great. Overall, it's the best option in Northfield by far but it doesn't compare to gems you can find closer to the border. It's more expensive than El Triunfo, but much better.

Pros: Carnitas taco was good, get it without cilantro if you are avoidant because they absolutely load it on. Salsas were good, too. Cons: Birria tacos were soaked in grease. I expect a little of that, but I shouldn't have to blot my food to the degree that I did. The consommé is a misnomer-it's a styrofoam cup of warm liquid grease with a few fatty chunks popping up to say howdy....and the esquites...DUDE. Seven bucks for soaking wet, canned corn? Topped with a squirt of mayo and Chee-to plop? NO.

My 11 year old nephew and I were looking for a place to grab some tacos after hiking at Nerstrand. We found this place just walking along the river and it did not disappoint!! The food was delish, everyone was very friendly!! I would recommend the tacos as they were SO full of flavor!! The atmosphere is fun and my nephew loved it! There is also an option to buy ice cream or snacks! I will definitely be back!

I have eaten here, five times since they have opened. They have the best street taco's. I have been getting the asada/beef ones. I go in there with the intention of trying something new, but the street taco cravings get the better of me. These are real corn tortilla's doubled up and are delicious. The food is reasonably price, but the price of soft drinks, I thought were a little high. The staff has been very friendly, love coming in and eating in the brightly decorated mexican themed decor.

One of the best Mexican restaurants within 100 miles, staff is always super nice. the quesobirria is my favorite on the menu.

nice staff. they have never gotten my order wrong. I love there tacos and they have great deals on taco tuesday (2$). the atmosphere is amazing with colorful walls, mexican music, piñatas, and other hanging decorations.
