Extremely mediocre Chinese food, I might even step below mediocre and say disappointing. They have an extensive menu which is about all they have going for them from my experience. I have had takeout twice and ordered 3 different things and every single one of them lacked flavor so strongly that I was unable to finish them. I felt like soy sauce was the only thing I could taste. The fried rice isn't even good which really strikes out an entire Chinese restaurant for me. Thankfully there is another option for Chinese in town, but I steer people away from China House for just about anything else.

Mediocre - average Chinese food - 3 starsThe best thing I can say about this place: the veggies are cooked fresh, the food comes out fast, the dining room is clean, and the prices are cheap. There's no love in this food though. They just shovel it out as fast as they can. It's probably better for you than McDonald's...but it doesn't taste as good as McDonald's food. If you had a gun to my head and made me choose, I'd probably pick a fast food joint over China House next time.We ordered a lot of food. It was incredibly boring and bland. I couldn't taste any spices or salt. (Luckily, there's plenty on the table.) Maybe some (gasp) MSG would help things along. My entree was the "spicy" Harvest house special with beef, chicken & shrimp. I couldn't detect any heat whatsoever. Even the fortune cookie was bland and it tasted like cardboard. I suspect they order the cheapest cookies they can find.Amazingly, there are over 100 menu items if you include the list of house specials. I don't know if this is good or bad. They probably just add or subtract one little thing on many of them, give it a new number, make up a new name, and throw it on the menu.I won't go back to this one. There are plenty of boring Chinese joints close to my house.-Maxx

I love the fact their dishes are fresh and have less sugar in them than most Americanized Chinese food. It's the better Asian place to eat in New Richmond. For a small neighborhood in Wisconsin, it's a decent restaurant. It's got a log cabin vibe inside, so it feels cozy and comfortable. The prices here are also pretty good. I definitely liked this better than Panda Express for when I lived in the Midwest. The service here is fast and friendly. When I lived in the area, the people who worked here were always sweet and nice to interact with. It's worth coming with family to eat here.

Good meat and fresh veggies. Decent take out if you need to satisfy a craving for american-Chinese food. We ate in and had food and attentive service.Enjoyed the egg foo young, lo mein, fried rice, Mongolian beef (shared family style). Love how the veggie fried rice and veggie lo mein were full of veggies!

Sadly, one of the very few carryout options in New Richmond has gone down hill. Never outstanding, but always good, I have given them their "last chance " for my business (for the 4th time) as of last night. For several months now the food has been incredibly bland. One of my favorite dishes there, the egg fu yung is now served virtually dry. Two large patties served with at most two dollops of gravy. Unacceptable. Three of us had an appetizer and entree each; six chances to impress - five out of six were below average, the House Won Ton soup being the only thing barely clawing its way to mediocrity. Almost $60 for carry out and that's without any beverages or tip! Insane! Thanks to the new Stillwater bridge I can now choose from several very good Chinese restaurants less than 20 minutes away. I'd love to support local businesses, but this place doesn't deserve a fifth chance.

We ordered take out the other night and it was amazing! It was ready almost immediately (within 15 mins). I had the Beef & Broccoli. The beef wasn't chewy or rubbery (happens sometimes) and the broccoli was cooked to perfection. We had fried wontons for an appetizer, pork fried rice and General Tso's Chicken. We thought all of it was very flavorful. The only thing I didn't really care for was all the onion... but it was easy to pick them out! I just wasn't expecting them in the Beef & Broccoli (but maybe that's why it tasted so good)! Just make sure to let them know if you don't want onion in it :)

Our go-to for New Richmond area take-out. Never had a bad meal yet. Their website menu is incorrect. That is for the China House chain of restaurants.

As a resident of New Richmond for eight years, I can say I have ordered from China House many times. What I learned is that it all depends on what you order. For example, I think the subgum fried rice is really dry, but the vegetable fried rice is so moist and flavorful, I can't get enough! Another choice that I find amazing is the Hunan Chicken and Shrimp. It's a little spicy and loaded with a huge selection of veggies, which they don't overcook. The vegetable egg foo young is better than the other choices. Overall, I'm happy with this place. They're friendly, too.
