It can be intimidating if it's your first time. We went all the way in the back to dine in. When they're busy, they do the stereotypical deli shouting thing, because they have separate lines and phone numbers for the restaurant and deli. Both the Abba and Sasha were delicious! We were tempted to grab a Reuben for the next day because apparently it's the best in the Twin Cities. We'll have to save that for our next visit. Pro tip: Their bakery is excellent. Hamentashens are great with your morning tea or coffee. Actually everything we got was good (black & white cookie, ginger cookie, Date Hamentashen, and Cream Cheese Hamentashen).

This was my first time at Cecil's after hearing such great things. It was super busy, so we had a short wait for a table, which was fine. The entire place feels like an old diner out of the 50s/60s, it has such a classic feel. Once we were sat, a few different folks came by to grab us waters, take a drink order, etc. Once we ordered our food, it did take a while to arrive, but not a huge deal (especially with how busy it was). Most of the folks who helped us were super friendly & that was great! I got the Hashwich, which was pretty tasty but a little more boring than I was hoping for. The zesty sauce was really good, but getting a bite without sauce was bland. I did love having fruit on the side as sort of a counterbalance for the heavy, greasy sandwich. In all, I definitely want to come back for their store area & to try more sandwiches!

Plenty of parking, very casual, and all of the staff were wonderful and we got our food super quick given how busy the place was. My partner got the Sasha (pastrami & egg) with potatoe salad and I got the Shayna (turkey & salami) with fries. I didn't like my sandwich as much as the bread fell apart and my fries weren't salty enough and a bit soggy, but I really liked the Sasha and the toasted bread. It was a great combo with the fried egg and potato salad.Overall, great experience and I want to come back to try something different.

Always on the hunt for a great American deli. This one wasn't it for us. We had the Leonardo (cold) and the pastrami (hot). Coming from NYC we should've known better than to have pastrami... My biggest beef (pun intended) is that the samdwiches were not made well- just kinda thrown together haphazardly. The Lenoardo was better than the pastrami.Anywho, opinions vary. It wasn't for us. Check them out and judge for yourself.

Cecil's is a historic gem of a Jewish deli. The matzo ball soup, sandwiches (especially if you're a turkey pastrami fan), and potato salad are good, hearty food executed perfectly. Service is no-nonsense and typically quick. Don't forget to pick a treat out from the deli counter when you check out!

Hmph. Maybe I should have ordered something else. But the matzo ball soup is very basic. Two dense, kind of bland matzo balls in plain broth. A few shreds of chicken, maybe a speck or two of carrot. The matzo ball soup I got definitely did not look like the photos of ones other people got. $8.19Update: second time - the chicken noodle soup was totally different, this time chock full of chicken and veggies. But my friend says her experience has been that it usually looks like the one with plain broth. But...then I got a Kaiser roll at the deli because I was still hungry. Fresh baked, chewy, yet light. Delicious. Then I got a chocolate chip cookie. Ugh, almost raw, I couldn't even eat it. But the hamantaschen cookie. Oh wow, it was so good! It had that light sandy texture that's so hard to achieve, and a big dollop of apricot jam in the center. Not too sweet, faint almond aroma, just perfect. So it was a roller coaster. Subpar soup, delicious Kaiser roll, awful chocolate chip cookie, then amazing hamantaschen.

Food was great and felt like an old time diner! Meat was a little salty if you tried it on its own but in the sandwich the salt was balanced out. Went on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm and it was still very busy. Service was a little slow but understandable for how busy it was. Felt laid back, casual and family friendly. I loved the decor with all the newspaper articles detailing the story of Cecil's.

You won't leave hungry. The food is amazing. The restaurant, the bakery, the deli. The portions are filling. The prices can't be beat. Cute whole-in-a-wall location. The service is fantastic as well. Easy parking in lot round the corner. Recommend and would return.

Cecil's is a staple in my family and has been as long as I can remember. After all of these years, I'm realizing I've never eaten in the restaurant. We always just call in a phone order for soft salami, pepper jack cheese (just the best), and various types of bread, and just make our own sandwiches at home. They are perfect for traveling or adding to your brunch. Truthfully- whatever! So yummy! Their pumpernickel bread is one of my favorites. Always so fresh and soft. Calling in the order is seamless and it's always ready when we come to pick it up. Staff have always been friendly here. This place gets packed. There's a deli side with lots of yummy goodies to pick from like sauces and chips. To get into the restaurant, you need to walk through the deli and stop at the hostess desk. It's small spot, but don't let that stop you because then you'll be missing out on something so good. Parking is available on site and there's also street parking. Walking in you get a retro deli vibe and the smells hit you right away. Lots of staff bopping around as it's a busy spot. I've heard they have a great Reuben so I'll have so actually eat in the restaurant sometime. I'll be back soon!
