"First time checking this place out. Our server was so sweet and made sure we did not need anything during our meal. She made sure my seafood allergy was conveyed to the chefs and they selected the most delicious fish. It also came with soup and salad. "Sunday brunch was totally worth the visit - they've been doing it for 5 weeks! Our group of 7 made a 10am reservation and was super happy with the food, service, and ambiance. The bbq was delicious (we especially liked the beef, goat, turkey, burnt ends, and brisket), all the brunch items were fresh (french toast, muffins, biscuits and gravy), there were made to order omelets, all the sides/fixings were tasty (coleslaw, burnt end potato salad, strawberry salad, grits), fresh fruit, pastries, and cheese were all lovely extras to add on! "After driving past this place for years (and years and years) we finally pulled the trigger and gave it a try - glad we did! We went on a busy Friday night and were seated immediately. Service was quick and friendly. I had the prime rib special which I thought was delicious and tasty. Huge baked potato and a wonderful salad. The babyback ribs looked good (didn't get a chance to try) and the elusive liver and onions were good according to my dinner mate who ate it! Sarna's hits that niche where you can go for a burger and beer or a nice "classic" meal - think fish, meatloaf, prime rib (weekends only), etc. They have a Sunday brunch that I bet is delicious - can't wait to check it out!"
"Ya'll I was not expecting this. This unassuming little place specializes in Mediterranean food and they also have a small shop where you can pick up any related International groceries. I honestly barely noticed because the smell of yummy foods hit me as soon as I got inside. I think they do most of their business as take-out or pick up, but we actually took advantage of the small dining area attached. The service is nothing fancy- order at the counter and they'll bring it to you. But ya'll- the food! It was really some of the best Mediterranean food I have had since moving to the cities. That hummus -as the kids say- SLAPS! It had a little spicy topping on it and they served it with warm pita breads. I ordered a gyros platter and it came with enough rice to feed a crowd! Even the salad was delicious. I told my husband right away- this is 5 stars."
"Went about 8pm on a Saturday night. They were understaffed so the service was a little slow, but the wait staff was super polite and friendly. The three of us all had burgers. My wife had the one with the bacon jam, which she really loved. My burger with the chipotle mayo and the onion ring was also good. (Order extra chipotle mayo). The standout item for all of us, though, were the fries. Really good. My son also got a side of Ranch and their ranch is really good. Small parking lot, but worth the hassle. Go check it out."

Really great happy hour for sushi and drinks.I went back a second time to try the hibachi, I got the filet and scallops meal. The filet was tender and juicy. My scallops appeared to be cut in half, as they were really thin but I still was given a good portion.

Always love coming here! It's so beautiful when you walk in. We didn't have a reservation (Saturday around 5pm) and were able to be seated right away. I got the lychee love cocktail and it was well balanced and sweet. The artichoke dip was amazing! The homemade pita sort of chips were delicious and had great seasoning on them. The baked potato was massive and I couldn't manage to finish it all. It comes with all the toppings of a loaded potato if you like. My husband loved his burger and it comes with chips. The pickles must be homemade and were so fresh and tasty. Service was quick and awesome!

I ordered her seeking a vegetarian option at MoA. I ordered the southwest with cauliflower wings.They brought me someone else's order which was a meat burger with fries. I opened it up and saw it was someone else's food and came up to let them know and they tried to insist it was mine even though I had my receipt? Someone from the kitchen brought my food a minute later and we sorted it out but it was frustrating. The sandwich was so super greasy it ended up being a wet mess. The buffalo cauliflower wings were fine at least, although the sauce was a little watery.

"The Dirty Bird is the sandwich that converted me to a Banh Appetit truther.I had previously just found Banh Appetit to be okay, back when I was vegetarian--I had tried the grilled tofu sandwich which I felt was just fine compared to other tofu banh mi that I'd had before. However, I recently tried the Dirty Bird (hot chicken) sandwich for the first time and I've been absolutely HOOKED since then.It has a really aromatic and flavorful five spice(?) seasoning, and it IS hot--but the perfect amount of spice that actually enhances the other flavors rather than just drowning them out. The fries are always crispy and on point too, and you just cannot beat the price of their combo deal--the combo of the Dirty Bird, fries, and a can of soda is a steal at $11.74. This is the go-to place of pretty much everyone I know who went to the U, and for good reason. There's a little covered parking lot at the corner of 13th and 5th that has designated free spaces for patrons of the JJ's/KFT/Banh Appetit/etc strip, which I only just found out about recently which absolutely rocks too! One of the absolute best places to get a cheap and delicious bite on the East Bank."
"Updated review; Unfortunately my past experiences were just that. In the past. I Ordered a pan pizza and cheesy bread sticks. Sounded like a nice lazy Saturday summer lunch!! But Upon opening the box of bread sticks they were dark brown and as hard as a rock. Clearly they had cooked before and reheated in the oven. They weren't even edible. The taste was as if the oven hadn't been properly cleaned in a very long time. When opening the pizza the toppings were a mess and the crust was barley even cooked. A mess of water was underneath the pizza! I could only have one piece due to it tasting like a dirty oven and they amount of greasy water. The mushrooms tasted like they came from a can and the sausage was hard on the top. Not sure how this pizza went so wrong.... I love pizza and can usually handle a little grease but this was crazy. I won't be ordering here again. Which is a bummer since it's a local restaurant and close to my house. Seriously.... What a dang bummer!!! I hate leaving negative reviews. But this was just the worst pizza I have had in a long time."

The food was good. I got some tamales de' pollo (chicken tamales) and tacos al pastor and a small side of queso fundido. The queso was great, and the taco's filling more than plentiful, cooked and seasoned beautifully! I enjoyed the tamal como es un tamal mexicano americano...de pollo (a chicken mexican tamal) with a red sauce and some melty white cheese. Good. Maybe enough to satisfy a tamal craving...and yet not enough.My real gripes are with the sanitary lack of restrictions during COVID-19. Many servers, and I saw cooks in the back of house (aka kitchen) also had masks that only covered their mouths or chin...unless they have no nose or no mouth that breathes out, I do not understand how they think this will prevent the spread of the disease, and thus are contributing to it. I will not go to an establishment in which such a simple precaution is not unanimously enforced."

"Mandalay Kitchen is a friendly and spectacular Burmese spot in St. Paul with a focus on dishes from the Kayin state in southeastern Burma. It earns a rare 5-star review from me.The food is exquisite---beautifully presented, wonderfully seasoned and with a wide variety of textures. They also label their vegetarian dishes, most of which are vegan by default.The Yangon samosa ($9) is a light and simple samosa, with a thin and crispy wrapper filled with lightly cooked potatoes and peas. Compared to an Indian/Punjabi samosa, it's less starchy and bready.The bayar kyaw ($8) is described as Burmese falafel and it tasted superb. It was more moist and savory than a Middle Eastern falafel and had a brightness to it that I loved.The lahpet thoke (tea leaf salad) ($13) is vegan by default and the best I've had in the United States. While Burma Superstar in San Francisco popularized this dish, Mandalay Kitchen's rendition is much better: it's savory, crispy, addictive and has a new surprise in every bite. The Yum nam khao tod ($12) can be made vegan and is a crispy rice salad with a variety of herbs. I loved this dish and, by coincidence, had had a much less interesting version at a different restaurant in St. Paul one day earlier. Mandalay's version blew the other one out of the water.Lastly, the Thai red curry ($14) can be made vegan and was good. It didn't wow me, but it was respectable. Next time I'll get the kabocha squash Burmese curry.The service was friendly and though the restaurant was understaffed, the food came within a reasonable time (we were warned about delays) and was still prepared with care and delicacy.Stop by Mandalay Kitchen for something special."
