Joan R. "Well, passing through town we had a lovely dinner experience at Mrs. tacos. It is not your traditional Mexican fair. It is unique combination of Guatemalan and Yucatan flavors. Everything was exceptional! We tried the traditional enchiladas, which were very good and two different burritos. All of the meats that they offer are delicious and have different flavors. I believe they offer nine different types of meat that you can choose from to put in your tacos or your burritos. We met the owner and she was very nice and proud of her establishment. You will enjoy the experience of eating at Mrs. taco."

I can never make it in the mornings for fresh pico and it sells out fast. They'll make it fresh for me if I ask and it is the best pico I've ever had. I need to try the fresh tamales but I highly recommend their tacos, which you can get at anytime."

Diane C. "I've driven by this place several times when in town and I thought TODAY is the day!! SO glad I stopped. For a Thursday at lunchtime, it is a popular restaurant, with all the booths that line the windows full, and starting to set at tables. Chips and salsa seem freshly made and are very good. The choriqueso rivaled what we had in Nueva Vallarta Mexico, which we have searched for with no success in the US. (One place in Ohio, I swear, used Velveeta.) Ugh.The Camerones Texacana were large, sweet and perfect. The bacon wrapped around them was not too thin, perfectly smoky, and spice was just right and not too hot. Service was cheerful and not hovering. Very good. They really hustled to take care of everyone."

Brad L. "Girlfriend and I have been dating almost 14 years, and visiting her family in Faribault now and then for most of that time, but never had I tried any of the Mexican restaurants in town. I know there is some Hispanic presence in town, and this was recommended. We were seated immediately, and of course tortilla chips and salsa followed shortly thereafter. Chips were good; light and flavorful. Salsa was a bit thin, and perhaps could have used a bit more heat, but was a good starter.I opted for the Fajitas Guadalajara, for a couple reasons. I wanted a sampler of their various proteins, and fajitas, sans tortillas/rice/beans, are a favorite leftover of mine for a great morning scramble. All the meats were tender and full of flavor, though the shrimp may have been a touch over. I would have also preferred a bit more char on the peppers and onions, also, but everything else was spot on. Barb and I also split a pitcher of strawberry margaritas, which finished the meal off perfectly. We also had a nice view of a passing thunderstorm from our window booth."

Mikhala F. "This is one (of several) favorites on Central. We always know when we come here, it's about to go dowwwwn. Come hungry! We came around 7 on a weekday and the place was pretty quiet, but plenty of seating inside. Check out their menu and then order at the front: they'll bring food out to you when it's ready. So many goodies on the menu, including authentic items you can't get everywhere like alambre, sopes, and caldo de res. Prices are affordable: you can get uncomfortably full for under $12!I can't NOT get sopes when I see them, so I got the carnitas sopes (comes with 3) and loved the flavors. My partner got the steak quesadilla and was pleasantly surprised by the steak flavor - more of a pot roast then carne asada. He also got a taco and tostada, all great flavor. I didn't see any horchata or queso on the menu, and was craving both!Parking is free street outside, and usually is pretty easy to find. On a street full of awesome spots, El Taco Riendo is always a great choice."

There is a magical Disney princess waitress KP who makes you feel so welcome and appreciated, she remembers my order and my take out for hubby (better than I do) she is an excellent bartender too. The food here is always delicious. The catches are: no other waitstaff go above and beyond like KP does, in fact when she is not my server, my husband gets massively different take out meal every time. He orders a burrito with two customizations and last time he got a taco salad. Also other bartenders make drinks too strong and the flavor is not the same. There is one hostess on Friday nights who is very crabby when you request your favorite waitress even when arriving more than an hour before dinner rush."

Bob A. "I returned here for the first time in a while based on some good buzz, and the buzz was not kiddin'! My friend actually drove all the way from Maple Grove at lunchtime on a weekday because he was so excited about how good he heard their new birria tacos are. We both got them and we were both really, really satisfied! Not only that, everything else we had was good enough to warrant a new review with top ratings; I feel very confident in recommending this to anyone hungry for Mexican food in the Twin Cities. The birria tacos are shredded beef in a double-tortilla-plus-cheese situation, served with a broth which you can dip the tacos in or eat like a soup. We dipped and dipped and dipped and it was awesome. My friend, who, again, went way out of his way to have his craving for good birrias satisfied, was even more impressed with their horchata. He loves authentic horchata and thinks this was one of the best he's ever had. The elotes, Mexican-style corn on the cob, was exceptionally yummy even if it looked modest. Even my sides of beans and rice were above average; they were just really well made. They have a number of delivery options now, so I expect to be ordering from them much more regularly, and I expect my pal to drop by from the MG more often as well!"

Alan H. "The good: they had a section on menu specifically for vegetarians. This is nice because it gives confidence that the beans aren't made with lard. Also the staff was friendly and attentive. The bad: the vegetarian meals were markedly more expensive than comparable meat options, with the only difference being they didn't include the meat ingredient.I ordered a combo that included a bean burrito, quesadilla and chalupa. The burrito was fine but nothing special. The chalupa had lettuce and avocado and beans and was probably the best item if only for the fresh toppings. The quesadilla was uninspiring with no toppings or sauce and the filling only of cheese that wasn't fully melted. My partner got a combo that included a chile relleno, quesadilla, and rice. The rice was plain as was the quesadilla and there was no lettuce, quac or cilantro--nothing green. The chile relleno as also was plain but did have a filling and a sauce. These combos were $14.99.Our third friend had chicken fajitas and he also got a chalupa. He loved it. What is annoying is that the vegetarian options were noticeably MORE expensive despite being the same as meat option except without meat! Most of the near combos were $10.99!!! This makes no sense as the most expensive ingredient is meat!"

After seeing how huge the sandwich was, the portion seemed reasonable. The sandwich had great flavor. Both meals came with 1oz containers of sauce, which were also good (orange/hot, green/mild).The space is cute, with lots of seating. The only issue I had was with the digital menu board, which changed screens so fast. Thankfully, the employee pointed out a QR code on the counter, which brought us to the menu online. Kimberly T. "Taqueria La Perla (located inside of La Perla Market) in Waite Park serves up absolutely phenomenal authentic Mexican food and they are soooo underrated. I've been a regular here for a few years, and they deserve to have more customers come in to try their tremendous food. Whether you're craving tortas, burritos, quesadillas, or tacos...they have it all. The food here barely costs you a penny as their menu is very reasonably priced. My go-to are the tacos here...each made with two corn tortillas (which somehow makes it taste so much better than just having one tortilla), diced onions, guac, and cilantro. My favorite tacos are the carnitas taco, the carne asada taco, and the barbacoa taco. Keep in mind, there are days where not all of the meats are available...they may or may not have the kind of taco meat you request, but don't worry, there's not a bad choice in this joint. The carne asada meat here is diced and seasoned so perfectly. The barbacoa is the perfect amount of spice. As for the carnitas, it is so tender and juicy. Each one is mouth-watering in its own way. The only critique I would have for Taqueria La Perla is the interior of the place. It is not the most cleanly and space is limited. They recently got booths instead of the tables they had before, but even then, Taqueria La Perla could use some renovations. But hey, good food is good food and that's what's most important. It's unfortunate that most people in the St. Cloud/Waite Park area do not know of the fact that they make fresh Mexican cuisine every day from 9am-9pm along with the grocery store. This is because it says "La Perla Market" on the outside which leads customers to think it is only if you want to buy market goods that you should stop by here. 95% of the time I've been to Taqueria La Perla, I've been the only non-Latino person eating food there. At times, I've had a tough time communicating with a few of the employees there, but they are such sweet people. They always find a way to accommodate to you even if someone has to step in to do some translating. Times like these when I wish I had taken Spanish in high school. Don't be shy, if you're in the St. Cloud area, come in for some amazing Mexican food! You will LOVE it!"
