The front desk has override the elevator so stop there first to get to the roof top bar. The rooftop bar is very nice with lots of windows and many different cozy seating spaces. I would do the old fashioned and sit outside taking in the view of the city. My bartender was very friendlier and said that the old fashioned is there signature drink. This was a nice place to relax before dinner."

Kelly M. "En route from Minot to Minneapolis, for some reason, despite my starving wife suggesting a stop in Fargo, I drove on... Perhaps subconsciously I just wanted to come back here after our visit last week. That sounds better than I ignored her pleas for food, right? We pulled into a large parking lot & walked in at 830pm, hoping the kitchen wouldn't close early, and were seated right away on the bar side. My wife ordered the ahi tuna sandwich that I'd had the previous visit and the featured sour beer. I ordered the special Salmon Crostini & THANKFULLY the server explained it was pretty small, so, I added 3 fish tacos & finished with a Bent Paddle Christmas Cookie Cream Ale.The fish (perch) tacos were larger fillets than expected and we certainly didn't leave hungry or dissatisfied. In summary: easy to get to, immediate seating, great food that came up fast, good service & the price was right at $70 for with 3 beers, an app & 2 mains. In the end, they saved my marriage & it looked like I had a plan from the start."

Pam H. "I was hosting a rehearsal dinner at the brewery a block away and stopped in to try their pizza to see if it was good enough to order for the event. WOW! The pizza was fantastic and the people working there were genuinely helpful, kind and just great to talk with. I spoke with my waitress, Hannah (who was lovely by the way) and she suggested I reach out to the owner for my rehearsal dinner needs. She even provided me with the contact information. Some people would just say email the owner, she did not. I reached out to the owner Laura, and she was lovely. I asked her if I could preorder 11 pizzas, pay for them and have them delivered. She wrote back a kind email offering everything I asked for and included heat lamps and warming bags. In the course of our conversations, she supplied me with an invoice and will work with the brewery to set things up prior to our arrival.Do not hesitate to eat here. Kari E. "We were near Duluth one night and looking for someplace to eat - something different and my husband was requesting steak. Every place I pulled up in Duluth looked meh (and touristy) so I expanded my search and came across Hammond Steak House. BINGO. Oh, goodness I did good this time! First, this place is impossible to miss. You'd hit it if you came off the bridge in a snow storm - right smack dab at the end. The restaurant is located upstairs - I am not sure if I saw an elevator so beware there may be stairs to climb. Inside the place sorta has the feel of a northwoods Perkins? Sorta woodsy, sorta diner-ish? Sorta weird, but I loved it. The waitresses were salty and had probably worked there for years. The sign on the bathroom stall door read "Lock is Broke"- I guess it won't be paying for dinner! So much charm, however, including the regulars. Dinner. I see comments about it being expensive which I don't agree with. Maybe expensive for Superior? I had the Prime Rib special and if I recall the small cut was $15.99 - on a Saturday night that seems more than fair. Came with a salad and I chose au gratin potatoes (which were very good!). The Prime Rib was cooked well though it could have been seasoned a bit more. Plus a bread basked that I tried to avoid but failed. Oh, and I had a Spotted Cow, of course! When in Wisconsin....Who needs Duluth and its overpriced, bland tourist food anyway?!"

It's not really awesome but my boyfriend knows everyone that works there and it's within walking (stumbling) distance from our house so we end up here an awful lot. They have Newcastle and Corona so I'm content. I will note my BF said the Bloody Marys are "unremarkable" and he wouldn't order one here again. He usually gets a shot and a beer. Sometimes there is live music, which I find odd and not exactly a draw, but whatevs. There's a covered patio which will be useless for the next few months (except for smokers) but is nice when it's warmer. There is definitely darts and possibly a pool table. It's usually crowded on weekend nights and the crowd is predominantly blue collar. Willis C. "Located on the first floor, The Living Room is the hotel bar for The W. I made several visits While in town to celebrate Prince, I stayed at The W and made a few visits to The Living Room. The W was one of the host hotels for the official Prince Celebration 2022 festivities and the official welcome party was held at The Living Room. As to be expected, this party resulted in lots of people who came to dance, drink and to celebrate the 'Purple Yoda from Minnesota'. Surprisingly, this space was an excellent option for the party it has a dance floor area along with a large well-stocked bar which easily accommodated everyone's drink choice. Add to that, they had a few Purple drink specials for the night which were tasty. The bartenders did a great job in processing the nonstop drink orders and the servers were kept very busy throughout the night. When not used for parties, the ambiance is much more laid-back. As the name says, it has more of a 'living room' feel. In addition to the long bar, there are many sections of lounge seating (chars, couches, etc.) which are perfect for unwinding. Even after the party, the bar continued to be well-stocked; so well-stocked that a friend and I made a couple of discoveries while sipping one afternoon. To our surprise, they had a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle (10 year) along with a bottle of Weller Single Barrel. It's rare to find either at a bar; having both made for an amazing find. My friend and I quickly made it our mission to empty both bottles so we would each have a souvenir from The Living Room (we succeeded). Following the welcome party, the bartenders could have been a bit tired but that was far from the case, they were as energetic and welcoming as they were at the party. If interested in food to go with your adult beverage, they work directly with Manny's Steakhouse (also attached to The W) which means anything from appetizers to a complete steak dinner can be ordered and enjoyed while in The Living Room. On future trips, whether staying at The W or not, I will make a point to stop by The Living Room for an adult beverage or two."

Julie T. "From first glance, this club has lots of potential to be greater than what they intended. No doubt, the decoration, architecture, bar and seating areas are classy and elegant. It is probably the best in the Twin Cities. The DJ area was in the middle but kinda tucked away and hidden behind the super XXL sofas and chairs in this place, so you won't see them in the dark lights. I don't know if it's good or bad, but I like watching the DJ in action sometimes when I go out dancing. She was playing some good dance music. Before you head to Mansion, you have to come with an open mind and lots of forgiveness in your heart. Drink a lot or take a chill pill before you come because this place has lots of rules. The night we were here, there were more security guards and "hostess" sweeping the floor than regular customers. I call them hostess, but I don't really know what they do other than stand around looking gorgeous and smiling. They didn't greet us when we came in or take our drink orders throughout the night so I don't really know what they do. I heard there is dress code for the men so make sure you have collared shirt and long pants on. As for the ladies, you don't have to remind us to dress to kill for a night out. The is no cover charge so that's pretty awesome since we are sure to be drinking inside anyway. However, their policies for not allowing jackets laying around doesn't make for a fun time. I have never been to a club where they force you to either wear your darn jacket or pay for coat check service and only if you can find it due to poor signage. Firstly, I was told to remove my jacket from laying it on the arm rest of a couch that was supposedly reserved for an invisible party because no one showed up. Secondly, they tell me I can't put my jacket on the bar stool when we finally found some kind souls to share their limited bar seating area with us!! Really!!!!!!!!!?????? Mansion?????? My last encounter with Mansion's rules (whew this one tops the icing on the cake), I put down my empty champagne glass on a nearby table because we were having so much fun dancing that I didn't want to risk breaking a glass on the dance floor only to be told I have to put my glass at the bar! In short, he is telling me "bus your own empty glass, lady!" I asked him if he could take the glass away for me only to be refused because he is too good to do just that (provide good customer service) because he has a black suit on and an ear piece. I am a paying customer Mansion!!!???Some advise for Mansion- let loose on your rules! There are not enough tables to put down our darn drinks so we can dance hands free! Instead, you have too many Reserved couches on the nights when your joint was half empty."

We were tucked away in a corner on a high-top table with great views of the surrounding Minneapolis skyscrapers and distant views of St. Paul. I was able to take some great photos out the windows throughout the bar before it got too busy.WE SKIPPED THE OBSERVATION DECK, CHOOSING PROHIBITION INSTEADWe chose visiting the 27th floor Prohibition over paying to ascend to the Foshay Tower and Observation Deck (30th floor), because we thought the views were good enough. We put our money towards cocktails instead! If you want to learn about the history of the place, it's easy to research it on your phone while sipping. :)1920s SPEAKEASY FEELThe decor is 1920s-ish with dark woods, blacks and purples with splashes of reds, occasional armchairs, couches and book cases. It was originally a retreat for the builder magnate Wilbur Foshay. I thought the actual bar didn't quite have a wow factor, but the rest of it felt 'speakeasy', although it's not quite as mysterious and clandestine as some we've visited.MOCKTAILThe zero proof cocktail I tried -- A 'Crime of Passion', complete with a real flower for garnish -- was one of the best 'mocktails' I'd ever had. It wasn't too watered down with ice and was quite flavorful. ($12, summer of 2024).TAKE THE ELEVATOR TO THE 27TH FLOORIn order to get to Prohibition, take the elevator up to the 27th floor from the ground floor where you find the check-in desks at the Foshay (W Hotel). When we took the elevator, there was a large crowd of conference people also waiting, so it took a few rounds of waiting before we got up there. I have honestly never heard of these bands because I am not in the metal scene and was most likely the odd one. I did however meet some very cool people and had some amazing conversations. I got a chance to speak to some band members and a chance to purchase some of the Merch. The merchandise was very good quality in my opinion and priced decently for the work put into creating it.The bands Ulkum, Wilbur, and Lungs were incredible. When people who don't understand metal hear the word metal they think a group of people playing very loud then head banging followed by loud screaming and smashing things. All metal is not like that these bands had harmony and played gracefully as well and some of the parts had a romantic melody to them. The bands were very enthusiastic and I learned a lot from some of them and that it was not only metal music that inspired them to play metal. The sound at the white rock lounge was perfect it was not like going to some places where it's so loud that it will rupture your eardrums and the sound technician they had was right on point with making sure things ran smoothly. The metal people are not as unfriendly are people would think and you should not be afraid of them if you take the time to speak to them then you will learn a lot about travel, adventure and music from them. I had an amazing night and the white rock staff was amazing as well as Steve the owner who was all over the place running his business. It's rare these days to have a hands-on owner running around getting his hands dirty and mingling with the people. I plan to check out another show there and try metal karaoke lol. And I was looking forward to some hearty food. My server suggested the signature Beartown Burger.Overall, I was pretty disappointed with Beartown. I was the only person in the dining room ordering food. (There were only a handful of people at the bar.) So I expected a great burger, served quickly. My "famous" Beartown Burger & onion rings took half an hour to come out. Keeping an eye on my watch, I knew what was going to happen before the food hit my table. Of course, it was way over cooked to hell. The flavor certainly didn't warrant the "famous" label and it didn't live up to the Beartown restaurant name. The onion rings were okay but mostly flavorless and boring. I was hungry enough to eat a fried raccoon sphincter so it wouldn't have taken much to impress me. But they managed to drop the ball.I had an hour to watch everyone else at the bar. This is obviously a place where locals can hangout to drink and watch a game. Most of the people seemed to know each other. The prices are okay so I guess it's also a good place to bring kids that don't care much about food quality...or if you plan to get drunk and don't care much about flavor because you're half in the bag.My server was great. It's kinda neat when you call to reserve your piece of pie (insider tip!) and they recognize your name and ask (by name) if your wife wants anything also. Here's what we ate over the course of those four visits and some reflections:Cheese curds - tasty little fried yummies! If you're not familiar with them, just give them a shot. Italian beef - served with melted mozzarella on a toasted garlic roll. The meat is tender and flavorful while the onions and peppers are sauteed to the point where they developed a slight sweetness. A great sandwich that we split, along with the cheese curds.Pizza w/ sausage & onions - there's a 30-minute wait because they are working with house-made dough and it shows up in the taste. This is NOT a frozen pizza heated behind the bar kind of place. Their sausage is Chicago-style so it's long on flavor. Added in nice size hunks, it steals the show. Bountiful fresh veges plus a thick layer of cheese adds up to a great tavern-style pizza. We ordered their 12" and split it with leftovers.Taco pizza on Mexican night was a surprise. Who would have thought the best taco pizza either of us has ever been served would have come from a place on a lake in the North Woods?!? Yep. Same crust but Darlene made all of the taco fixings for Mexican Mondays and either added them to the pizza or served them on the side. I really enjoyed the presence of refried beans as well - a unique twist that really works. Guac, sour cream and salsa on the side all enable customization or are yummy with some of the bountiful tortilla chips on top of the pie. Another sausage and onion pizza the evening before we left...eaten on the boat at their dock. Yes, they have bar service, table service, deck service, picnic table service and even boat service. Pull up to their dock, give a call to let them know you've arrived and your boat is your private dining area.General notes about their pies. Darlene presents as a small-town lady but holy hell does she bake up a storm! She has favorites that she makes and nothing will be as mundane as a piece of apple pie. We had two slices during our time on the lake: lemon chiffon with whole blueberry glaze and a slice of strawberry cheesecake. Both were nothing short of amazing and absolutely worth calling in advance to reserve. We split the piece and had plenty both times we ordered pie. General notes about the owner and staff. The wait staff was amazing! Even in the difficult COVID times, they provided impeccable service and were really friendly and open people, without exception. Andy is the owner, or possibly one of the owners. When we rented a house on the lake, I asked for some local referrals and he was one that I received from Dani at Hayward Vacation Rentals. Andy helped me set up the local network that I used to plan and execute this vacation. He pointed me towards a few options for boats to rent and have delivered right to our dock (Barry is the MAN!). He gave me the name of Farm Boyz Mercantile as well as numerous other referrals. In short, he provided the "local knowledge" that resulted in us having a fantastic week on the lake!COVID-19 notes:All employees are wearing masks and/or face shields. All employees were wearing gloves.Spacing on the deck is spread out but I did not go inside so no information there. We found a picnic table and used it as our place for all but the last visit when we dined on the boat.
