Sheldon B. "I was invited here by some good friends who are from are from India and I have limited experience with Indian cuisine. It's been over 10 years and it's been only two maybe three times ever. This spot, is a local gem you've gotta visit, sooner than later. We were with a group, and we had apps, we had main dish, our main dish had main dish, then we had extra, then we ordered more, and after all that, then our friends said let's get dessert! And the whole time, the food kept coming, hot, fresh, the staff was attentive and friendly and new families and groups kept coming into the restaurant. Here was my experience. The apps, our friends ordered goat and chicken I think that wasn't too spicy ( I like the spice), but he wanted to start off light and add to the next level of spice for those around the table, cus not everyone can hang. I'm like, bring on the spice while others who don't spice like that we're already sweating. Round two, chicken 65 and lollipop chicken. That's what I'm talking about! Even those who can't handle the spice found the taste buds will the meat back in the fork and take a bite cus the flavor was that powerful. That this place is called Aroma is a very fitting name because the second the dish is placed in front of you, the aroma hits your nose and it gets your attention like, it's signaling you with its pointer finger saying "come here, I'm calling out to you."Round 3. Something called stuffed naan came upon the table and changed the game. Take a bite, and your like "hey hold up, hold on. How come nobody told me about this before? How come we haven't come to this restaurant before?" And in that moment, the restaurant pulled a move I've rarely seen done, they took a surprise dish that changed the game, then they added a dipping sauce to it to ring the bell and call it a night. ding ding ding and the winner is!!! They brought out a bowl of fresh hot curry....and I was skeptical at first, "you want me to dip this oh so good stuffed naan in this lame lookin' brown bowl of curry.?? So I did. This must be what Disney talks about when they say "'magic.""

This was on our Hopkins bucket list since moving here, and it didn't disappoint. The owner is mainly doing takeout only right now, and since he was missing a staff member that night hadn't planned to provide dine in service. But he welcomed us in and gave great service! The CHAI. All I'm gonna say, is you have to taste it to believe it. Dreams really do come true. My partner wouldn't stop stealing sips!I got the butter chicken and it was flavorful and creamy- spot on. My partner got an absolute mountain of lamb biryani and he loved the flavors and sauce. The owner chatted with us when he was free and is a total gem. He had us laughing constantly! While we were there, several folks came in for takeout and one even paid for the next strangers' tab! You can tell this is a local favorite.  We'll be back!"

Among the appetizers we got that really stood out included the Onion pakoda, fish pakoda, and Mini Samosas. Our group had to run back the onion pakoda bc it was so good. For my entree I had the Shrimp Biryani which was incredible. Meal had great flavor and spice to it (spice levels made to order) and the shrimp packed a good bite to it. I also sampled the beef masala (yum) and the Arabian Sea Dinner (piece of fish was the star of this dish). Huge rice portions for he table and I recommend the Naan.Small restaurant with 1 server who was very knowledgeable and helpful (Roger). Hours are limited here and the parking in Cedar-Riverside is miserable , but make the time to check this small business out !!!"

India House has a good vibe as the table settings are nice and the service was prompt. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and the chicken tandoori with a side of cheese naan. Looking back I did not need to order the cheese naan as so much rice came with the chicken tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala was the best tikka masala I have ever had! In addition the chicken tandoori was incredible, the chicken was super flavorful and tender. I will definitely be coming back for more Indian food!"

Perry S. "If you find "typical" Indian food to be a mishmash of spices covering veggies or a protein in a casserole-style dish, head over to Thaliwala, which recently opened in a nondescript strip mall in Chanhassen. This sparkling clean, friendly restaurant offers traditional Indian fare, but their specialty is "Thali's," or plates. A plate is a large metal serving plate rimmed with metal bowls, each containing a small portion of chicken, lamb, or veggies seeped in delicious sauces, basmati or brown rice, and a variety of vegetables, lentils, a thick Indian soup. Each plate comes with papadums, but several types of nan are also available, as are the familiar samosas and momos, a meat or vegetable-filled dumpling. Dessert is Kheer, a sweet pudding made of rice, sugar, and condensed milk topped with freshly grated cardamom. There is also a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. My take: Refreshingly different and delicious. I'm going back and hope to see you there."

I absolutely love Hyderabad so it's no surprise that I'd love Dosa. The Dosa menu has a bit more of a complex twist with items that take more time to craft. We ordered a Masala Chai, the Onion Chilli Uthappam, Hyderabad's Special Chicken Biryani, and the Madras Chicken Curry! Everything came with extra sauces and rice.I don't even know where to begin with this order. The curry was delicious, fragrant, and perfectly spicy. The biryani was also delicious with perfectly cooked rice as always. Very texturally pleasing across the board. The Uthappam I've never had before and it was absolutely heavenly. Fluffy spongey "bread" that I used as a utensil for everything else!"

Alina D. "The food was good but the general vibe and cleanliness of the place was not. Place is a little ominous with basically a warning sign that people get sick from here, spiderwebs, everything looks beat to hell and back, and the restaurant name just exists on taped-up regular printer paper. They also had a sign on how to clean up vomit. That being said, nobody from my group is sick yet (it's been a few hours) and the food really was good. Tried the garlic and chili naan and both were solid, took the waitress' recommendation on the kadai chicken and it hit the spot. Good prices too for the gamble."

Tuyen P. "Randomly landed on this place while scrolling through yelp for a place to eat at. Located in a small strip by other restaurants and stores. It was a little quiet when we got here with only a couple other tables around 5 pm. Place is a little older looking. The menus are old so the price is not updated. They even place a piece of paper to say price may differ from menu so if you really want to know how much something is, check. All of our dishes and drinks were more than menu price. This location has decent lassi for my liking. I did enjoy the mango more than strawberry. The food came out within reasonable time given that it wasn't busy. All of the dishes were delish and nothing to complain about. They were all flavorful. I honestly recommend all of the dishes we got. I did not enjoy the lamb curry because I'm not a lamb person and it def has the lamb aftertaste. Service was great. Please spend the money and update the menu, especially they are more than a dollar increase so customers can plan appropriate."

The guy behind the corner was super friendly and greeted everyone who came through the door warmly. He encouraged my son to try a sample of the chicken before he even ordered to make sure he liked it. We ended up getting combo plates and mango lassis (a creamy smoothie). My son getting chicken and I got lamb/chicken combo. The portions were generous (really enough for two meals if you aren't starving), the food was excellent and the kids liked it so much we ended up going back a second time the following week.Do yourself a favor and check this place out. Renée P. "This is my local Indian go-to!! Everybody has their personal Indian spot and luckily for me it's one of the closer ones to my home - I would have been willing to drive for it though had it been further. The things that I would most recommend would be their tandoori murg and their tandoori shrimp. The tandoori murg has delicious, moist chicken thighs and legs that are served over tasty and pickle-y carrots anc onions. It is SO dang good!!! The shrimp is LOADED with spices and flavor and tends to be a little spicier than whatever level you tend to order it at, but it's so dang yummy!!! Together they're a perfect fusion. If you're looking for something a little saucier, their vindaloo is good, and I'd highly recommend their chicken with mushrooms - just all around solid food and a great value for what you pay! Also, if you're trying to get back to eating in restaurants, the place itself is a really classy little restaurant. It's got clean/modern classic vibes that you might not expect - perfect for a mid-week date night!!"

All the food was excellent- I would buy their tikka masala if I could! They said their hot is Minnesota spicy, and my husband totally agreed. I got mild because I'm not tolerant to spice and it was perfect- barely any heat. They have probably the best garlic naan I've ever had.I love that they changed up the traditional Indian menu by adding pizzas and pasta- great take on things for this area. The drinks were incredible and I can see myself stopping by after work for happy hour. We got the spicy pineapple margarita- perfect amount of heat paired with sweet from the pineapple. She got a side of piro hot chutney tomatoes, garlic, local habanero chili. It was about a 10 minute wait and then we got our text that it was ready. There were 6 momos and they were pretty good. I dipped them in the piro chutney, which gave it a fantastic kick. 8/10The dosa was amazing. The crepe was large and thin and crispy and held a ton of perfecgtly spiced meat. The lamb Biryani is huge, but the lamb a tad gristley.Maybe I've only been here in the winter, because I associate this place with being cold, and a bit dank. The door is the most basic of single layer no relief, and the blustery breezes just come in uninvited. Or maybe my impression is because of the bathroom in the deep, dark basement. Regardless, I prefer take out here because I don't find the space inviting. It's just a rectangular room with not too much thought put into it.It's fine, I just wouldn't want to live there."

The bread was piping hot and delicious, and the house made pickles were a punch in the mouth with flavor. Matar Paneer is a dish I will ALWAYS get when I have the chance, and Spice & Tonic's was a delight. Super clean and refreshing. Honestly everything was so dang good, and my only complaint isn't really even a complaint as much as an observation - they don't do hot very hot. You see my grandmother would make what we call gunthapunganum, orbs of fried batter. These were incredibly tasty and she made them as a celebration or pick me up when I was a kid. The batter is not something that you can just make up, you need to plan a couple days ahead (at least that's how I remember it). I have asked for this at restaurants wherever I travel the US and have NEVER found a place that makes them. Now that my grandmother has passed it has been over 30 years since I've eaten these...I heard that Kumars has them on their menu, and I am NOT disappointed! They have them and they taste wonderful. This restaurant is different and we should judge it differently. This is a time travelling ship and not a restaurant. The food is SO. GOOD. So far I've sampled these entrees: the thali, palak paneer, the veggie momos (which are a MUST get!), Nepali chow mein, and the Nepali fried rice. Everything I've had is super flavorful and delicious. One tip, however - the default spice level for the chow mein is HOT, so if you can't handle lots of heat, make sure to let them know you want it mild (my son, who loves extremely hot food, confirmed the spice level). I love spicy food but the older I get, the less it likes me. Definitely gotta try the momos though. The achar sauce that goes with them is *chef's kiss.* This area is starting to get some really good restaurants - yay for the North End! The only drawback is that there isn't much parking here, but it hasn't been a problem when I've been and their takeout service is super fast. The space is fairly small but nice and cheery, and there's a huge TV which is generally either playing soccer matches or Nepalese singers. Looks like they are getting ready to start a buffet as well - there is a hot table set up at the rear of the restaurant but it wasn't going when I got there today.FIVE.STARS. Don't be afraid of tracking in mud.The waitress recognizes you and asks, "Do you want the usual?". It's got tchotchkes everywhere and a candy bowl up front (always grab an extra strawberry candy since they're so hard to come by). It's a put-your-phone-away-and-relax kind of perfect.
