"This store is a gem and a real lifesaver when it comes to finding the right fitting or the perfect rake. Their repair service has always met my needs and the service is friendly and fast. Be sure to pick up a rootbeer; Hanks is the best."
"Diamond Lake is so Diamond Like.Came here for Ace Wrap. Or a copy of Ace Ventura Pet Detective. THEY DIDN'T HAVE EITHER ONE. FALSE ADVERTISING.Pretty awesome hardware store with great prices on the corner, in the tiny Minnehaha Plaza, in a residential neighborhood in South Minneapolis.Definitely one of the better hardware stores that I've dealt with in the Great Lakes region and really friendly and I got exactly what I needed. Just like in my relationship with the dominatrix in a lot of the pix I post on here."
"The history was right there in your face, everywhere you turned. Things I hadn't seen since my youth. Wooden topped, glass front display cases. Old metal bins for loose nails and screws. A store where you could purchase one nail, or a kitchen towel, or a snow blower, or some candy for your kids. I realized I needed an ice scraper for my new car and the owner (I looked him up) told me he would go to the basement since the scrapers weren't up from the basement yet. I bought a reasonably price scraper with brush, a shorter one, and another one with a metal blade which is hard to find anymore. Stop in to see how small towns are still doing it up right."
"Menards has some things that Home Depot doesn't have and that is what brings us in. Their paint storage containers are wonderful. Most of their lighting is Patriot Brand and it is of very poor quality. They also carry many other subpar brands in other products.I appreciate their holiday Christmas tree display as my brother, who is special needs, loves to walk through it often. They also have great red mulch, regular and rubber. The regular red mulch is a brighter color than other stores.Staff are helpful."
"This may come as a surprise to those who know me, but I secretly love hardware stores. Seriously. This love mostly springs from the fact that you never completely know what you will find inside. Nails, washers, hammers, weatherstripping - sure. But Guse's also has cleaning products, kitchen gear, puzzles, and t-shirts. That's right - you can buy a "Guse's Hardware" logo T-shirt! Betcha didn't think of that when you were walking by.Back to the kitchen gear. I've recently rediscovered my stove and am trying to be a touch more Happy Homemaker than I've been in the past. Thus, naturally, I need things like funnels and potato mashers. I've looked in kitchen stores, of course, but the prices are usually enough to send me back to frozen dinners. Not so a Guse's! I got said funnel for only 99 cents! My new potato masher? $4! Take that, Fancy Kitchen Store! My love of hardware stores may be somewhat unknown, but anyone and everyone knows my love of supporting local businesses. Guse's is exactly the kind of business you want to be supporting, too; the salespeople are cheery and helpful, and the store is clean and well-organized. This is what the corner hardware store in Mayberry looks like, folks. Finally, were possible to award a sixth star, I would give it to the wee white dog who inhabits the store. He's so quiet that you may not see him at first, but he's there, casually watching you stock up for your home-improvement project."
"They don't just sell stuff, they help you figure out what you need. Customer service is awesome and they will sell you two little bolts if that's all that's required to get the job done. Plus they'll fix things like window screens and broken wheels so you don't have to buy a whole new item.I needed some non-glare glass for two 8" x 10" pictures I was framing. At Michael's they told me it would cost at least $100 per picture--just for the glass. I went to Ace where they cut the exact sizes I needed. Total $9 for both!Ace might charge a bit more for that tube of caulk or that BBQ grill, but in the long run, shopping there saves you money. Plus they're really nice."
"This place is great. Those that know, know. They're not open like big box stores, but because of that, you have people working there that will cut things down for you and point you in the right direction. If you are going to be doing anything that will require a sizeable amount of lumber, come here. You'll save a significant amount of money. Even a red cedar 4x4x10' will be $20 less than what you'll get at Menards or Home Depot. And that is just on one piece of wood. Plus, it feels like they take care of their employees as I see some of the same people and this is from shopping here multiple years. There are other things offered here that are from different manufactures too like doors, interior hinges, etc."
"Gary is the MAN. I visited Hardware Hank after I had been turned away by two youths at the Home Depot who were unable to copy my broken key and suggested I try Hanks. The friendly individual at the desk took one look at the metallic smithereens that once formed a key and called Gary for backup. He calmly inserted the pieces into his trusty key machine and worked his magic for a few short minutes while I perused the light-up Minnesota Vikings totem pole section. Before I knew it, I had a fully functional key in my hand and was only $2.56 poorer! Gary saved me hours on the phone with my alarm company and who knows how much money to change locks. Gary's the kind of guy I'd want to grill some beef franks with on a Sunday after shooting some hoops. Thank you for being a key whisperer!"

A little pricey, but okay if you need to "pop in" to pick something up. The clerk didn't acknowledge my presence until it was time to check out. I appreciate "low pressure" sales, but a simple "hi, can I help you find something" would have been nice and appreciated.

Diamond Lake Hardware(Ace Hardware) is a small location but packed with anything you might need It's a great neighborhood hardware store, very convenient so you don't have to drive all the way to Menards. They have street parking and a small parking lot in the back.

You don't come across the quintessential independent hardware stores so often anymore, but Sauser's has been in this family more than a century and has operated even before that under previous owners as a general mercantile store. You can find everything it seems, from nuts and bolts to kitchen and garden items, even a wide array of gifts. Best of all, Mike and his clerks are super helpful and friendly. You can get your mower fixed here, too. Tom does a great job with that. My favorite store, for sure.

Based on the reviews, I may be one of the only customers that likes Menards. Spouse wanted coca cola. They only carry Pepsi, Shasta Cola and Specter products. Found Dots Cinnomin pretzels here. Yum. Main purpose was to get pellets for the Traeger. Started to online shop then I saw a $4 something order processing fee, before sales tax. I hate excess fees and drove over myself. I found 20# Bear Mountain Pecan and Fruitwood for $9. The 40# size was on sale for $14.96 Competition Blend. You bag your own stuff here. I was offered assistance with pellets to my car but declined. This store is fairly newer. I will keep Menards on my radar when I need pellets again.Review 3 of 2023.

Guse Hardware is an old fashioned neighborhood hardware store with lots of items that may not be that easy to find particularly in the big box stores. When you walk in the door you feel as if you have stepped back in time a few decades. The staff is friendly and helpful and they are knowledgeable about their products. They are very good about ordering items which may be out of stock. If you have ever visited one of the big box stores and exhausted yourself mentally and physically trying to find an item or even someone to wait on you or answer a question you will appreciate Guse. Parking is easy on the street. I highly recommend Guse as a convenient locally owned business.

Have been looking all around town and online for a solid poplar newel post to match the existing 4 3/8 square newels in my house.I called them and an employee named Tim said he would research it for me and call me back. He called back an hour later with a solution that would be a match: combine three 1.5" poplar boards together, which they carry in stock.I arrived minutes before closing on 5/22/2021 and was taken to the boards. I told them what I was doing and they cut three 48" boards. I was in and out in five minutes.Boards are definitely poplar and match the grain and color of my 50-year old newels, which also happen to be glued together. Also appreciate them requiring masks. Will be back.

One of the few hardware stores left. Always have what I am looking for and never have to wander around to find someone like home depot. A little expensive but that is to be expected. You can rent a lawn aerator, drop your lawn mower off to get fixed, find an obscure bolt, and by bait all at the same store.

"This team is definitely making the best out of these uncertain circumstances. Went to get some paint because Ace is one of the only places where I can get Benjamin Moore brand. While they do not let you go inside, they did curbside service. It was really busy which made it kind of uncomfortable, but that was out of their control. They did a good job moving through the amount of people as fast as they could and did a great job getting my paint without going inside to see what I really wanted. Also, Ace the dog was present and was cute."
"Not being a do-it-yourself, home repair kind of guy, I never expected to fall in love with a hardware store, but that's what's happening with Welna II in Seward. It helps that the store's just a short walk from my house. But what turned me into such a fan is the exceptional customer service. As soon as I step in the door I know I'll get a friendly hello and offer of help from whoever's working the counter. Owner Jim Welna and his staff have proven time and time again they're more than happy to go the extra mile to come up with solutions to problems. Plus, when it comes to product recommendations, I can trust they'll steer me in the right direction. Instead of the most expensive item, they'll show me what's locally produced, eco-friendly, AND most cost effective. If they don't have what I need they'll do what they can to make sure I get it. And these people know their stuff! One more thing: If your timing's right, as mine was on my second trip, Mr. Welna might offer you one of the hot dogs he's got cooking on the grill out back. That's the kind of added bonus that makes this family-owned neighborhood hardware such a standout!"
"Very friendly on man. They change the battery for my Toyota RAV4 2013 it was for my key. The key them some hard time but they did it for me slowly patiently without breaking anything and then put it back together. Took them 10 minutes it was a hard one. All I had to pay was the price of the battery 4.99$ plus tax. Also I needed small nut for a screw for my air fryer that thing cost me $.19. Social distancing was observed.Plenty of close parking if you go late. Yet, plenty of parking but you have to wAlk 20 yards."
"Fantastic service for Marvin Windows. I worked with Natasha and she found the perfect fit screens for my windows."
"This place makes me wish I always had projects to do with steel! We wanted a 5'x14" stainless steel backsplash in our kitchen. I had done some online cost estimates and it would have been over $200. I checked for local steel suppliers, but didn't think I would find a place to do such a small project. I spoke to someone over the phone and placed an order. It was cut to size with a protective coating and It cost under $30! When I rolled up to pick up my tiny order in my little hatchback every single person working there was genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful, even the parking security guy! It was one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. And the backsplash is beautiful!"
"Walked in and immediately had great service from the man working. He asked what I needed and found it for me right away. I was in and out in just a couple minutes. Really great customer service & nice selection of products!"
"Nice enough place and huge. I remember going to this place when I was a kid and it was a lot smaller. They have since expanded by leaps and bounds since I was last there. What brought me back was a coupon in the little mail fliers for money off a propane tank exchange, so I hauled the old one over and got a new one.Next time I would like to shop around as there is much more to see. The place is busy all the time."
"This is a very nice Ace Hardware! I find the people very helpful and friendly. They are always willing to help you out in finding an item or making sure that it us the right item to help you.Very well stocked with typical hardware items in garden, electrucal, plumbing, paint, etc. They also have a housewares section.Additionally, I have used their small engine repair services, located in a separate building across the parking lot. Very reasonable and pretty prompt.Lots of parking all around the building.I recommend this store!"
"We had a better Menards experience today since the light bulbs that were on sale were in the LIGHTING section (as it should be). On our way to the register, my dude (that loves hardware stores) found a pair of warm work socks on sale (2 pack for $2.99) so its no wonder that he's checking on the sales items by the registers. Our cashier, Angela, was not inpatient while he was checking out those items and said there was no one behind us in line, so take our time. So he did....and found some Fisher peanuts for fishing. Well played, Angela. Your company gained more sales by not pushing us out the door."
"I was in the neighborhood anyway and had menards rebate checks to spend. I found mint dog bones for my new dog. Bought some candy that I didn't need. Looked around Christmas and saw some cool Grinch ornaments, a musical Grinch doll with saxophone and other inflatables. The store was not busy at all. The cashier was nice. I spent enough so will have another $4 rebate coming. Wish a person could just upload receipts somehow instead of wasting a postage stamp. Get with technology Menards."
"They've gotten better. In the past I was generally more partial to Home Depot or Lowes due to the quality of materials, such as lumber and the like, at the store. Lately, however, they seem to have improved in that category and are stocking better products. Or could it be that the competition has cut too many corners to where one can't tell what's good and what's not? Regardless of the above, the Pro desk does do a better job than Home Depot, which is directly accross the street from this Menards. Also, I don't know if I'm imagining this as well, but the staff at this Menards has improved in helping me find stuff that I'm searching for.All in all, Menards in general reminds me of hardware division of Walmart at times. However, they seem to finally becoming into their own."
