Janay D. "Hey Travoodies Let me say the say the atmosphere definitely local, friendly and yum. I just hate I couldn't sit to enjoy it. If you didn't see the reel, broken glass and my finger had a tussle. This neighborhood restaurant and bakery bustled with smiling faces from staff to patrons. What I ordered: The Biscuit Sammie! A cheddar buttermilk thyme biscuits with a maple fennel sausage layered with delicious was everything. My only disappointment was that with the situation occurring I was not able to eat it hot. I believe it would have been chefs kiss. So I have to do a redo... I also ordered a cinnamon roll, which I later enjoyed. It was a lot bread but yummy all the same. I would share it next time because it was alot for me! Overall it is a place I want to try again."

Stacy A. "Cute spot and great for large groups. You seat yourself and you order at the counter. The menu is comprehensive but I wish there was a kids menu. They seem to be family-friendly but it is hard to order for a child. For example, for me to get my child the chicken and fries they asked for I would have to pay $10 for 2 pieces of chicken and $8 for fries. The mac and cheese was good, and more importantly, my kids liked it! I like the turkey sandwich - loved the fresh onion and red pepper aioli. I also noticed that they focus on sustainability (glass cups, no straws, reusable napkins), but would be great to have some plastic or melamine cups for kids to avoid accidents. Overall cute place and I'll go back but hope they add kid-friendly meals to the menu!"

I liked the variety of pastries and sweet treats they sell, their beverage selection, their pricing, and the good service. In my two visits here, I have gotten cupcakes, donuts, a cinnamon roll, almond puff, and a tea cake. All the items were delicious and to my liking. They were worth the purchase. I talky like them and would go back for more. I definitely recommend checking out this fine bakery shop."

Mary T. "Before heading down to the Twin Cities, I searched for places to have Christmas meals catered. A couple of years ago, I had an excellent experience with Brasa. This year, it had Thanksgiving catering, but maybe decided to take a break doing the same thing a month later.I landed on getting takeout from Colossal Cafe. It has takeout orders twice a week at two different locations. It also featured a special Christmas takeout menu where I needed to pick up my order on December 23. Perfect!I went with this Colossal Cafe on Grand Avenue. It's slightly closer to where I'm staying and would take roughly fifteen minutes to drive over here.I got the following items from its Christmas catering menu:- Orange-glazed ham, with roasted carrots, mashed potatoes with gravy, fluffy roll, and candy cane brownie (two meals - one on Christmas Day and another on Boxing Day)- Chicken pot pie- Egg bake (chives, cream cheese, and spinach)- Triple berry french toast bake with crème anglaisThe idea is that you pay online. Credit cards work fine, especially when you aren't an American. You specify the time that you want to pick up on Saturday and head over there.Parking was busy on a Saturday on Grand Avenue. I parked briefly on the street and walked into the cafe.As expected, this cafe was fairly busy. I saw all the paper bags with food to my right. I was excited, but patiently waited in line.I had the nicest woman when I got to the front of the line. I said that I was here for an order and pointed to the paper bag with my name on it on my right. She was pleased that I made her life easier. She picked it up and let me know that it was heavy. It was in double paper bags that were extremely sturdy. I thanked her. She wished me a merry Christmas. I did the same and happily lugged my food to my car. I briefly headed back to my hotel room after running a couple of errands. I placed everything in the fridge and then headed to a Wild game. The food lasted a few days, which I appreciated. It was nice to take a break heading downstairs for breakfast and having a comforting bake instead. They all heated up nicely in the microwave oven in my room. I normally do turkey as the main. It was a nice change doing ham with the best orange glaze. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and buttery. The gravy was excellent. I loved the roasted carrots that required little chewing. The fluff roll was so good. The candy cane brownie was fudgy and minty. It was the perfect meal. I'm so glad that I got to relive it the following day!The chicken pot pie was amazing. You got the pie crust all around the pie. There were huge chunks on chicken, potatoes, onions, and peas in every bite. This pie was so filling and comforting as a meal. The egg bake was delicious. I never thought of putting dabs of cream cheese throughout the bake, but it was awesome with the chives and spinach. I'm so glad that I got the triple berry french toast bake. It was everything that I love. Blueberries. Raspberries. Blackberries. French toast. Crème anglaise. Excellent! I looked at this cafe's takeout menu. It has a chocolate chip banana french toast bake that sounds equally as yummy. As tempting as it was to get it, I decided to sit on it. Next time! The food was delicious and comforting. It was everything that I had hoped for and more. It made my Christmas and holidays special while away from home.I looked at the baked goods while I was at the cafe. I want croissants next.It was a fabulous find. I'll be back for more.(2)"

Jeannie V. "This review is looooong overdue. Keefer Court has been a favorite bakery of mine ever since I stumbled upon it during a Zombie pub crawl cerca 2009. My now-husband and I needed a bathroom and decided to buy something to give ourselves the ethical ok to use theirs. As we wandered inside we saw people eating dinner (they do have a full menu), but not feeling too hungry, we opted for a quick bakery item. I saw a curry beef puff in the display case that resembled something my Indian father used to make when I was little (similar to a beef samosa, but using puff pastry), so I bought it with curiosity and low expectations. They were even kind enough to heat it for me. But that first curry puff was SO good, it led to another. And another. And then two more to share with our friends. Keefer Court's curry puffs remain one of my favorite treats to this day.Since then I've tried just about every type of bakery item in the case, but I consistently get the curry puffs and red bean sesame balls - one thing that's savory and one that's sweet. Eventually I will need to order a real dinner there because I imagine it's delicious as well, but I'm the meantime the bakery keeps me coming back again and again."

I like to affectionally refer to them as Sebby J's - and if you haven't had a scoop of theirs yet, add it to your end of summer bucket list. Fresh, creamy ice cream with tons of toppings and flavors that often play off Twin Cuties spots and inside jokes (like the Nicollet Avenue Pothole). If you get the idea for a scoop on a perfect summer evening, be warned that others will have had this idea, too - this line gets pretty busy and can take a while to get through, and be sure to scope out a patio spot ahead of time. Prices are average if not slightly higher in comparison to other spots in the cuties, but the flavors are worth it! A Linden Hills favorite, perfect for after a dinner out."

But it was sent to Chicago from MN, and I was surprised by how moist and yummy it still was. The colors are so bright and I'm impressed they were even able to get it that bright. It tasted like a vanilla cupcake. And it was one of the best cupcakes I have ever had even though I didn't like the unicorn poop, so that says a lot! They packaged it with ice packs and a bag that sort of seals in the cold. It's really a Twin Cities institution to get some brunch or a diner meal here sometime. You have to try it!I've been impressed with their desserts as well. The St. Paul location had a good variety to choose from. You really get the diner feel with the low counter with stools or booths to sit in. Everyone that helped us was so nice and helpful. It's like you're a regular even for the first time! My friend swore by their breakfast combo. The one that suggested it to us and I tried the reuben. Now that I've been to the original and the one in the Foshay I may need to take a tour around town to try all of the others! Its texture is the creamiest when thawed and tastes great, right out of the freezer if your teeth can handle it! Unlike Kowalski's crust which has a refrigerator shelf life of 2 and a half days before turning soggy, Muddy Paw's crust remains crumbly. I've had a big selection of their flavors and really enjoyed them. I like to order a plain one for a dinner party and serve a variety of toppings, which get ignored as my pals can't get to the cheesecake quick enough! Jonathan T. "This morning I needed to continue nursing my holiday hangover with some food and wakey juice, so I decided to visit RG to change-up my coffee house routine. South(west) Siiideeee....Nothing says "neighborhood joint" like baristas calling folks by their first name, the elderly chatting about old times, and moms playing board games with their kids. Royal Grounds definitely has an awesome and friendly buzz. The staff there welcomed me with a smile and patiently answered all of my questions I had about their goods. I decided to recover with a French press and Glorious Morning Muffin, which only came out to a little over $5.My dark brown caffeine elixir tasted deliciously strong and not too acidic. I also had my fill since the French press produces about two and half cups. As for the muffin, I think this may be one of the best muffins I've had in recent memory. The Glorious Morning has raisins and carrots that make it slightly sweet and pulpy, respectively. Unlike most muffins at cafes, this one tasted steamy fresh and pillowy soft. Essentially, it's a fibrous marshmallow. (Sounds weird, but that's the best way I can explain it.) No wonder so many parents with their children were there. I'm sure the muffin is a creative way for children to eat carrots.Aside from the coffee and food, Royal Grounds has sturdy tables (didn't need a newspaper to stabilize any of the legs), comfy chairs, and music that didn't make my ears bleed. (I frequently perform at hip-hop shows, and I can't even stand the noise level at some cafes.) I also love the fact that they support local businesses by selling their goods. I enjoyed perusing through the funny selection of holiday cards and small painted canvases. Bravo, RG!My only suggestions are that Royal Grounds could provide more outlets (for us mobile workers) and make better use of the empty white spaces on the walls (since the shop can come off as a bit stale). However, I'm really just being nit-picky.Overall, Royal Grounds' coffee is on par with many of the other stellar coffeehouses in the Twin Cities. Although, I think their food is what makes them special. Seriously, I would like to see other joints bake their own goods daily.I can't wait to return to buy some Valentine's Day cards, another cup of coffee, and of course, a Glorious Morning Muffin. If you're in the area, check out Royal Grounds."
