Bread People

Bread People is the neighborhood bakery you want to visit every day, because the bread and other baked goods are superb, because the staff and customer service are superb, because the sandwiches are superb, because the coffee is superb, and because the place smells so darn good your entire body begins to relax when you take your first step into the store. I love all of their breads (try the challah!) but my favorite is the Emmer Loaf. If they don't have samples of it out when you go, do ask. They're always willing to let customers try their wares. The cookies are terrific. The scones are terrific. The bialys are terrific. They've recently added cupcakes (and ice cream sandwiches in the summertime!), and the chocolate cupcake with strawberry butter cream frosting is so delicious it might just make you swoon a bit. They did a GF chocolate cake for Valentines Day that was to die for. And I'm ready to launch a campaign to keep the orange hibiscus sable cookies for Valentines Day on the menu during the rest of the year. Do you live somewhere other than Northfield? Make Bread People your reason for a visit. It's really that good.

Bread People were difficult to find at first, tucked between two other storefronts in a strip mall, we weren't able to see it, and almost left. Glad we didn't - everything we dried was wonderful - the scones, the cookies and freshly baked bread were all superb. What a wonderful little gem - wishing them lots of success!

Deliciously fresh and unique breads! Friendly staff. My brother and I shared: cardamom knots, peach pop tart, molasses ginger cookie, za'atar Billy, and sesame snickerdoodle cookie/dark chocolate ice cream sandwich. All very delicious.

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE bakery. I dare say it's the best one in the county (at least). I love the granola as well as the chocolate babka and their cardamom rolls! Worth visiting for coffee with friends.
