Picked up a rack of baby back ribs on ribfest Saturday for seventeen bucks. Pre-made, packaged, and in a cooler at the register. All the ingredients to a good rib was there. I paired it w some sticky rice n hot sauce n it seal the deaI. I ate all the meat to the bones! Also saw them smoking some ribs on the side of the building... recommended. Saw some fried chicken n other goodies will have to come back when I have more time.

I hadn't been there since I moved to Forest Lake and the place was called Richards and before that, Rogers?Stopped in and got some sirloins, dagos and something they call a gangster roll. Everything I've had has been A+! The steaks were very tender and juicy. Loved them. The fresh dago patties were very good. Much much better than Morellis dago patties. In fact these could be put up against many restaurant hot dagos in the Twin Cities, short of DeGidios hot dago. They are in a league of their own. The Gangster Roll caught my eye in the meat case and I had to ask the butcher(owner) what it was. It is a pork tenderloin filleted out, then stuffed with pepper jack cheese, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and sprinkled with. Porketta seasoning, then rolled back up. I got one and I'm glad I did! It was fan-freaking-tastic!I wish I snapped pics of everything. I will be making Borchert's a weekly stop.

Every once in awhile I'll get a notice on FB that they're having a ribfest. I finally gave in. I realized that they had broasted chicken. It was pre-made so you don't get the same crunch, but I didn't feel like waiting, so no complaints. Still tasted good. What was the shock was the mac and cheese side. As soon as I open the box I'm transported back to Howard Johnsons in the 60's. This stuff had the look, texture, and taste of the famous HoJo's mac and cheese. I couldn't even wait to get home to eat it. Best I've had in the Twin Cities. I don't need the fancy stuff as long as it's good. The ribs delivered. So tender in their barbeque sauce. Personally I wish they drowned them in it. I didn't even bother to shop around, I couldn't wait to get home. Even the roll was good. Maybe next time I'll eat the mac and cheese at home and not at the red lights.

Locally owned by a very nice family. All they've ever wanted was to open a nice market. They've got a great selection of meats, and deli services. Prices are very comparable to the big grocery chains, but the quality is much better and it's fresh! Who doesn't want fresh when they have the option. So go down and support a locally owned shop!

I was sorely disappointed in my visit to Borchert's, despite my love for meat markets of this size and kind. I ordered four types of bratwurst and found the texture to be unusually mealy. The meat didn't hold together well within the casings and the flavors seemed to drain out during cooking. This is the first time I've experienced this from a meat shop offering. I visited during COVID, so perhaps their recipes were affected by related issues. Either way, we were looking forward to all of the flavors we purchased, but found them to be inedible. Why two stars? They may still over great deals on fresh cuts of meat. I only purchased the sausages.

We stopped here on a bike ride for their rib special. They had good social distancing going on using employees to keep things organized. They were grilling the ribs outside and the smell while we waited was great. We bought a couple of sides in the store and took the rack of ribs. We ate nearby and we really enjoyed the ribs. It was nice to shop at a local small business that is very well run.

Old fashioned service in a meat market/neighborhood market! Wow - places like this still exist! We had stopped along our bike ride for the outdoor ribfest, and I'm really glad we did! The Meat Dudes we're outside grilling ribs-only $11.00 for the rack! The ribs were perfectly grilled and the Borchert's BBQ sauce was a wonderful addition!

This is my go-to meat market. The broasted chicken is the best in the city. I can slow cook one of their roasts and get rave reviews with just a little black pepper. Their lunch specials are cheap with a gooey Mac and cheese available most days. Oh! And don't miss their RibFests - $11 + tax for a full rack of ribs is a steal!

I work for Wells Fargo in Maplewood Minnesota which is where I met Dave and Donna Borchert. They invited me to visit their meat market and I am happy that I did.Upon arriving to their shop I was shown around their different cuts of meat. Their butcher knew his stuff about everything meat related. He explained how the difference of cuts and types of cooking affect each other. I walked in a novice and came out very educated. I was so impressed with the service I received. It never hurts to ask for help and to not be shy to admit that you don't know much when it comes to a product. Chances are the people selling their product are more than willing to tell you everything and more about their goods :)I purchased two separate cuts and they even gave me some marinade for free!I would recommend this shop to anyone interested in getting something above the bar.-Shiny

Last week (4/17/24) I tried 1.) the Sasquatch Brat and 2.) a mixture of they had of onion, mushrooms and sirloin tip meat. Both items were just OK -- nothing to write home to mom about. But today (4/26/24) I had a fish fry experience that was a disaster. I was so bad that would not even feed it to a cat. It was about 75% coating and 25% fish, if lucky. And the accompanying tater tots were just as bad, Seriously, how is it even possible to mess up on a tater tats. Worse fish fry I have ever had, and that says a lot.
