Easily crowning this place as the best Ethiopian food in the Twin Cities because of so many factors, specifically the tastiness of their food, the variety of desserts they have, and the service that they were able to provide. I am not exaggerating when I am saying that this place is staple for the Twin Cities food scene and that I will bring my guests here first almost every time. The kategna, sambusas, and beet salad are all amazing! Adequate level of spice for the kategna, a good amount of filling in the sambusas, and a good flavor mixture along with good bread for the beet salad. I truly enjoyed every item I have had. While the siga wat and the yebeg alicha, two of the most popular items in this establishment, are certainly amazing, my favorite item is undoubtedly miser, the spiced lentils that they have, which I still think is the best lentils I have had anywhere, including my own! It is really difficult to make lentils taste good and I don't know how they do it. I highly recommend anyone getting it. I also recommend the ater kik, which is the yellow split peas. It is very flavorful.Despite miser as my absolutely favorite item here, I do want to say that all items I have had were hits and no misses. Just the miser was way too impressive, with the beets salad a second favorite.Service was also amazing, with Avii doing a fantastic job always carrying a smile and always checking on us to ensure we had everything we needed.Once again, staple food place in the Twin Cities that all visitors should check out! Easily a 5 star on my list.

Bolé is a cool little spot near the State Fairgrounds. The ambiance is warm and airy, although the staff wasn't quite as welcoming as I was expecting. It wasn't that it didn't seem like they cared, more just very lackadaisical in going about their service - whether that was getting your food, taking orders, or even getting a table prepped to seat you. Our experience with the service was fairly mediocre to poor.As for the food, it was definitely something a bit different. Almost everything on the menu includes injera which is almost like a thick sourdough tortilla that you rip apart and use to pick up and eat your food. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a lot to try and some stood out more than others - for me, the standouts were the sambusas, awaze tibs, and the lamb stew. These all packed some solid flavor. The tibs were probably my personal favorite - packed some heat, but not overpowering. The veggie platter was a bit more hit or miss - although some of that might be more personal preference, the Kategna were just OK, and the chicken stew was a bit meh.I'd encourage others to try Bolé, it's a nice communal place that is enjoyed by many with some very solid dishes to boot!

Amazing food! Great flavor and good variety of optionsService was good. They were understaffed and working really hard, I felt bad for them! But we were there with two toddlers and they were so good and patient to them, which I always appreciate Fun ambiance, felt clean, and a quiet space to eat. We got good doro wot but was a little oilyThe veggie platter was amazing and very good injera

Finally made it in to try this restaurant that I've heard good things about. Its reputation for wonderful food is well deserved. We came between lunch and dinner, so street parking was easy. I imagine parking might be harder when it's busy. Inside, they have created such a wonderful atmosphere. I loved all the artwork, the beautiful materials, and the colors. Whoever decorated did a fantastic job.Since I'd read that the Awaze Tibs and veggie sides were especially good, we decided to split the Tibs and try the 5-side veggie platter as well. Everything was sooo delicious! My favorites were the Awaze Tibs (spicy and flavorful) and the Shiro, but everything we ordered was delicious. We also tried the Miser, beets, Ater Kik, and Gomen. We enjoyed it all again when we ate our leftovers later. We'll definitely be back!

Bole is such a warm and inviting restaurant - it smells fantastic, the artwork is beautiful, and the waiters are friendly. There were lots of people dining when we went on a Friday night, but we were still able to get seated quickly as a party of two. The veggie sampler is the perfect option to share with 2-3 people, and includes a wide variety of different bean and vegetable dishes to try. The injera is wonderfully tangy and stretchy. We usually get takeout from here, but it is an extra treat to dine in person.

I have enjoyed Bole's food for years, and really like the new location with it's open space and great light. Tried the kategna, which was toasted injera rolled with berbere and cottage cheese. Very flavorful and loved the cripness of the injera. Also had a veggie combo with some tibs. It came out beautifully plated - the whole dish was so colorful and fresh looking. Every item tasted great - lots of different spices and flavors. One of my favorite Ethiopian restaurants in the cities.

Ambience: This cute, quaint restaurant is tucked away in a Saint Paul neighborhood, but totally worth seeking out. Parking is a bit tricky as it's residential. The art, lighting and decor here is perfect. It's spacious enough not to feel crowded but quaint enough to feel comfortable. Service: Service can lack at times. We had to flag our server down multiple times. She was nice, but not attentive. We were able to be seated immediately, without a reservation which was nice. The goods: We had the lentil sambusas to start (6/10), they weren't very flavorful and the lentils were still very hard. We also had chicken tibs with awaze (9/10) and the hot tea (8/10). The enjera was perfect. The spice on the tibs was just enough, though they were a little greasy. Looking forward to going back!

food was the delicious the fried whole tilapia was well cooked just not seasoned enough. Our other plates were perfect! My espresso hit the spot. My son's mango juice was good. The dessert was a bit tough. The service was delightful and the restaurant had a very homey and welcoming atmosphere.

Wow this place blew me away. I haven't ever had Ethiopian cuisine. They have found a way to make what would normally not look appealing (lots of mushy textures) and make it look incredible! We did the "Tour of Ethiopia" and enjoyed everything we got. The server explained how to eat it, and we enjoyed ourselves. This has a very communal feeling and is enjoyable in a group!I'll be back!

While shopping around Rosedale Mall, we found this place nearby on Yelp. It's located in a quiet and charming neighborhood. There is no parking lot, so we had to park a few blocks away on the street. The restaurant is very modern and elegant. The indoor seating area has many tables and a bar, while the outdoor patio is spacious and filled with plants. We ordered the Tour of Ethiopia, which includes an appetizer, a meat combo, and a veggie combo. The beef is amazing--perfectly spiced and tender! The chicken dish, which includes an egg, is quite interesting. The lamb, while not as strongly flavored as the other meats, is still delicious. The veggie combo is fantastic, and the salad is delicious. The beef Sambusa contains ground beef and is best enjoyed with the side sauce. The beer we ordered is average. The service was a bit slow since it was a busy Saturday dinner, but overall, the waiters were welcoming and nice. They all spoke another language, which I guess is Ethiopian, suggesting that the food is likely quite authentic. We enjoyed this place and will definitely return if we crave Ethiopian food again!
