Yelp let us down on this one. This place would never make it in a larger city. Only reason it even gets 1 star is our server was friendly and efficient. Although she did tell us how delicious the side salad was and you can imagine our surprise when it comes out as iceberg lettuce, 1 slice of cucumber and a few goldfish. They are known for their broasted chicken and we were disappointed as it was over cooked and very dry. We also tasted grease the rest of the day. Not a place I'd recommend or return to.

This is a hidden gem of the northern suburbs. Just a few miles north of Co Rd 14 off of Hwy 61. Nestled between Hugo and Forest Lake. The Black Smith has some of the best Broasted Chicken in Minnesota. This is a no frills local bar and restaurant and it's totally worth the drive. You can't beat a 1/2 chicken, potato and salad, or coleslaw for under $15.00 and less on Thursdays. And the no-frills Bar will not break your wallet. Make the trip up here any day of week!

Kitchen closed for lunch at "2", and it wasn't 2 yet. No indication anywhere about this. Service lady couldn't give no shit and booted us out. Maybe they have good chicken. The place looks dumpy anyways and only welcomes local.

It was my birthday yesterday and we decided to get a steak at Blacksmith Restaurant. We ordered the Steak for Two. It was very tender and tasty. Our daughter got the broasted chicken dinner special.. They have a daily special of something different available. There is quite a following to this local place especially for the daily specials. We had a nice time.

Good local "divey " style restaurant. We usually get the broasted chicken, the best in the area. The last time I was there, I had a large burger, very tasty but almost too much to eat. The food has always been good here.

Best broasted chicken in The Northern counties of Minnesota. Great value and atmosphere. Bloody Mary's are their friend.

One of my favorites! Best broasted chicken I have found. Also the salad which has gold fish in the wood bowls sounds sub par, but I could up there for a drink and one of those salads and be happy. I've sent many people up here who have said there is something about that salad that hits! Great place and all the bartenders make it a fun place.
