Time to update my review from a few years ago - I've been to Applewood Orchard a few times this season and my almost 2 year old loves it. It seems like every year they are improving and adding to the experience! The free tractor rides, PYO apples, mini tractor area ($2 honor system), play systems, and mini apple cider doughnuts are all part of the experience that we enjoy. Note: it's dusty out here, so plan to go to the car wash afterwards!

OVERALL: Cute Apple Orchard, but not a ton of Apples left already! ATMOSPHERE: Perfect fall Apple orchard. Not super big but definitely had quite a few rows. They have a small maze and some picnic tables as well. HOW IT WORKS: It's pick your own! No entrance fee, just pay for the apples you pick. VARIETY: They had 5 different types of apples that were currently ripe and ready to pick. Everything was pretty picked over already but we were able to find a lot of apples that were still good and blemish free!SAFETY: All the employees are wearing masks and there is one entrance in where you check in and grab your bag. It's outdoors so it's very easy to be socially distant and away from others. They do not require masks if you're a guest as it is outdoors.

Our family loves to come here for a visit every fall. It's a tradition! My kids are ages 5-12 and the all enjoy this place.Parking is free.Admission is free.Things to do:1 - A small maze that is fun for ages 2 and up. My boys love it!2 - play equipment for kids ages 1 to 8ish3 - How tall are you this fall - photo op.4 - pumpkins for purchase5 - MaNY different types of apples to pick6 - A barn with many different packaged food items to try. Also fresh donuts.7 - Hayride and pedal tractors on the weekend. Note that you PAY for whatever apples you pick so remind your kids about that before you get out to the Apple orchard. One 'con' is that you must weigh your pumpkin before you checkout and they only have ONE scale!! The scale is super finicky too. So that was annoying.Other than that, great place!

The store shelves were mostly empty on their first day open in 2021. They were serving slushees and mini donuts that the kids liked. The tractor hayride was only going about every 30 minutes or so, and the kids couldn't wait that long. It is convenient due to its location, not a great experience tho. They charge a surcharge if 3% if you use a credit card. Stop at an atm and bring cash.

Its literally the closest orchard to our home so we've gone here several times over the past few years. Usually in the early part of the picking season but due to circumstances (and trips to other orchards) we finally got back here yesterday. With the proximity to the city it can get overrun with families with small children but overall its a good place to pick. There is a wide variety of apples ripening at different times of the season so there is always something ready to pick once the right time of year hits.Coming south down Cedar thru Lakeville you make a right turn at 225th street (there is a nice big sign) and go about a half mile down a dirt road and make a left to take you the rest of the way. You have the obligatory family draws like corn mazes, hay rides , pumpkins and the like, but we go for the apples and they are of good quality. This time of year you are at the end of the season so we were picking Regents and Honey Golds. It was a Sunday afternoon (Vikings bye week too) so the parking lot was full and there were cars parked on both sides of the road coming in, but usually there is plenty of space in the dirt parking lots.As I said, we've been to several orchards in and around town and this is as good as any. If you live in the area this is a go to place and there is no need to make longer drives elsewhere unless you are genuinely making an afternoon of it.

We loved the mini donuts and strawberry slush. It's a great place for kids with playground, mini tractor, and corn pit. We will definitely go again! The gentleman operating the tractor was very kind, he helped us getting the stroller on and off the tractor.

Took a group of students with disabilities here for a field trip from a local elementary school. Had emailed previously to obtain information and give a heads up. A few notes to make if you plan on going on a field trip. Upon arrival, we were informed that there was no outside food allowed. Many of the kids were asked to stay off of some of the equipment, although within the age limit. After another conversation with a worker, we were able to eat on the side of the parking lot. Also, concessions are only open on the weekends. The orchard was a nice walk for the students and it was a very pleasant day for a visit. There were only a few other people that were at the orchard, it was quiet and peaceful. Might not be the best option for students who need flexibility and modifications.

Such a beautiful orchard! Delicious apples, (free) tractor hay rides to the orchard - even though you could easily walk, cute (photo-opp) baskets for apple picking, reach gadgets for treetop apples, and a tree maze for the little guys. The only downside was that there are no apple turnovers. It would also be nice to see compostable cider cups.

It is my first time giving a - poor - review on Yelp. Apple picking is a tradition in the family. This year we decided to try Applewood Orchard. Bad idea! This place is a rip off. $10 admission fee. $20 for a bag of apple. There was no pumpkin left to grab. The kids were very disappointed. So were we. We will go to our usual place next year.
