Our first visit to this neighborhood Chinese restaurant was takeout on Christmas over a year ago. We enjoyed the Beef & Broccoli. It was tasty then. My daughter requested Chinese lo mein, wontons & fried rice for her birthday yesterday so I decided to support this local restaurant in my neighborhood instead of another restaurant I enjoy. Unfortunately, the food yesterday was definitely not on point. In fact, it was awful. No one liked it.I ordered 1 lo mein (with an upgrade to fried rice for an additional $3.75), a large fried rice, wontons, and an order of sesame chicken with fried rice and wontons. It was $45. The amount was enough to feed 5 people a light dinner; however, they didn't eat it. The fried rice was completely flavorless, dry and had very few veggies. And I've had fried rice many places. It was orange but definitely did not have any flavor. They must have used orange powdered food coloring (yes they sell this to restaurants). The lo mein was mostly flavorless with a very light soy sauce/oil flavor. I've never had lo mein come with rice before; I wish they had skipped the rice and just added more lo mein, but that wasn't a choice. The sesame chicken had a gelatinous red-orange gooey sauce that tasted bland with vinegar notes. I think it was their appetizer sauce since it tasted the same. The chicken was crunchy in spots and rubbery in others. I actually threw the sesame chicken (left on the plates and a little leftover) away since there was no hope of saving it.The wontons had too much dough and not much filling. I love wontons and thought these were flavorless. They were cold and rubbery by the time it got home. Perhaps they tasted better fresh out of the fryer. I should've made my own.No one liked the dinner and I wasted $45. Perhaps they had a new cook. I don't know, but I will not take my chances again. I am not willing to gamble and waste more money. It really a shame since I wanted to support a neighborhood business. The photos are of the original leftover lo mein and fried rice since no one wanted them. I fixed up the fried rice and lo mein with a lot of work for dinner tonight. I had to add several ingredients to achieve the right flavor of other restaurants.

Great local restaurant, family owned and run. Great portion sizes. Has dine in or carry out. Fast service. Love Apple Garden!

We have lived in the neighborhood for almost a year and have tried a couple Asian restaurants around our new house. The Apple Garden is by far our favorite. It is in a funny little strip mall, which is almost always empty, but I do only grab take out for dinner so . . . The food always tastes super fresh, like they grew the veggies & went out and picked them. I love the chicken with vegetables and my husband is a big fan of the lo mein. The dining area is OK. It is small but looks clean, but I prefer to take out. The young girls that work the register must be sisters as they all act the same. Slight smiles, very quiet but polite and just get down to work. We are going to order take out again tonight. We love it.

I only ever order to go, but the food is always very good. A great, local Chinese restaurant.

This is a tough one as I'm really mixed on this place. Typically I really like it or not. Those that are on the fence make it rough to give an accurate "rating" but based on the big negative about the place and unless we try it in the future, a solid 2 stars is where it's at. Most people giving feedback around here aren't very descriptive or helpful, I'll do my best to explain all that I can so you can decide if it's for you.Keep in mind, this was on Christmas Eve so the 25 min wait is to be expected. We have had a tradition in our family (kudos to those that know why OR do the same) to eat Chinese food the night before Christmas. While on an outing it was crunch time. It wasn't too late in the night but the first 3 places I called in Blaine were closed so I chose Circle Pines next. Only 3 options showed, first didn't answer, one seemed like a fancy sit down place, therefore we were left with this Apple Garden.Phone confusion: The entire phone conversation was confusing. Certain things didn't come with rice, others did. It was a mess. This is the first time possibly in my lifetime I've ever been to a place where common menu items were not considered combos... ok, sure, I'll adapt and overcome. Perhaps it's something different in this area compared to the other states. There are only 14 combos but it's baffling that "chicken almond ding" is a combo vs countless others. Not my restaurant, not my decision. After the confusing call and the 25 minute wait time over the phone it was well over 35+ to get our food. While inside there was a steady amount of people coming inside. Hard to say if that's the norm, if this place is popular, or if other people partake in the tradition like we do, but this was good to see. The young girl at the cash register wasn't very stoked about her day.. sorry my dear :(Food parts: -I'll start with why I can't rate this place solidly yet. We ordered: Beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, chicken lo mein, and extra cream cheese wontons. There are several adults sharing and little ones between 3-5 eating. In the middle of dinner one adult grabs a bunch of paper towels and is fishing in her mouth. She bit down on something sharp and it cracked into her teeth..... it was solid and pointy. She was a few seats away but they said it looked like a piece of bone. I imagine what would have happened if one of the kids bit into that and it lodged into their gums or choked on it? This was alarming. It went from happy times to serious after that moment.-The Chicken lo mein was pretty tasty, I've had a lot of bad lo mein in my day and have a particular way I like mine to taste. This was very delish! I sampled the sweet and sour chicken and it was decent. The sweet and sour sauce was nothing special. Pro tip: adding a piece of pineapple in the container is ultra cheesy but I love it. This place didn't do it (maybe this could be bad for those allergic to it..?) but places I've been in the past - it's like a special surprise waiting for me.-The fried rice wasn't anything special. It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't good. I was hoping it was pork fried rice but in the car my family member said "they probably just include it" nope. Just. Rice. Maybe some peas. Maybe skipping on the combo was good. The steamed (white/sticky) rice was very good! For being "just rice" I loved the level of sticky it had. Not crumbling into pieces when I attempt to grab some. It was soft and delicate. Very pleasant to see.-Cream cheese wontons were my favorite part of the meal. How can you go wrong with them? I have a weakness for cream cheese and the crispies. It was perfect to taste. Overall: New to the area so this was a trial run. After the misc piece of hard bit in the food I'm not inclined to go back even though it's very close. Will try some of the other options in the area to see what else is around. Food was warm-hot. Service was ok, not great. They had a cool fish tank. Extensive menu. We put our phones away for dinner so I didn't get any of the food, but maybe I'll capture some leftovers later. If you feel up for new adventures, give it a try. We all have different experiences and that's what makes Yelp great.

I ordered takeout and picked it up. The front door was covered in smeary fingerprints. Restaurant was empty. A sneering young woman gave me my order. No niceties, no thank yous, not a smile. I tried to talk to her. Nothing. It wasn't a language barrier. I got home and there was an at least 6inch hair in my food. I threw it all out. Am still nauseated.

Used to be decent delivery food. Everything now tastes pre-packaged. Found a hard pea in my fried rice. Definitely not cooked fresh.Received some wrong items also. Upon calling to discuss, the employee accused my wife of lying about what she ordered (even though I clearly heard her say it) and argued with her. We need a better place around here. There are 4 Mexican restaurants around. Why can't we get a good Chinese place?

Nice, friendly neighborhood dining establishment that does a lot of take out orders! It's quiet, hometown atmosphere makes me love it as much as the food. I enjoy the food here, it's hot and nothing is unexpected! It's not the fanciest or nicest food adventure, but it's hometown flavor appeals to me. We always eat in, always taking leftovers home.
