Definitely a good date spot! First off, I had no idea the hotel had this bar until I was brought here on a date. The bar area is so cozy, elegant and low key. The drinks were tasty, well elaborated and the bartender was great at making recommendations! I would recommend this spot if you don't want to deal with the usual loud, messy bars in downtown. This spot is clean and a bit more relaxed. FYI: Paid parking is easy to find around this area.

Best. Old. Fashioned. in Minneapolis; hands down - not up for debate. In the top three things that I miss about working from the office, is stopping by Apothecary on the way home for an Old Fashioned.Their Old Fashioned is definitely not typical; I believe they use some sort of floral liqueur along with a wash of walnut as well. The setting is serene, great for conversation or just unwinding after the day, with occasional good people watching opportunities if it's a weekend or some sort of event is in town. These Old Fashioneds are also HUGE; probably at least double the size of some places and have never failed to get me just the right level of tipsy before continuing the rest of my journey home.

The Apothecary does a brilliant job with Old Fashioneds. They take great care to mix a lot of ingredients to create deep complex flavours. We found this a perfect place to have a drink to start the evening!

Bar tender is good and makes food drinks. The phone number is wrong and the directions are wrong, so by the time we found it we were irritated. It should mention that the bar is in the Loews Hotel.

So, it's a hotel bar, but completely worth your time. I advise the 'library' around the corner to your right from the main bar. Amazing bartender (Greg?), who made an impeccable Old Fashioned when I gave him free reign to do as he pleased. Very good service overall. Food was solid. Pricier, especially the drinks. Really nice lounge-style seating.

Bartender was a pleasure. Went out of his way to help me and my family with some food when we arrived late. The way the service industry should be

We arrived two hours ahead of a sold out concert at Target Center, expecting to wait. The place was fairly empty, so we decided to sit around the corner. The flustered bar tender chided us for sitting back there and said there was no waiter, so we moved up front to avoid causing him more work. He came out several times and took orders from other customers that arrived easily 20 mins after us. He avoided eye contact with us, taking a food and drink order from other customers seated at a shared table. I dislike verbally flagging waiters, but I did resort to loudly shouting "EXCUSE ME" twice - it was clearly and intentionally disregarded. We finally ordered our drinks at the bar from the same bartender, who was quite sour and short and disregarded a request to order food. I was eventually forced to order food from a manager who appeared an hour into our ordeal. Our food arrived well after our shared table mates had finished their meals who, again, arrived 20+ mins after us. It also arrived after I had to make a second trip to the bar to verify that our order had even been placed. In retrospect, we absolutely should have left after the first exchange. The service was terrible. The drinks were unremarkable. The food was unremarkable. Props for adding a Herbivorous Butcher plate to the menu, which I would have ordered had I actually had more than 30 seconds to speak with anyone. The thing that continues to bother me is that Apothecary is across from a major venue. It's hard to understand how they would not anticipate major events and staff accordingly. After our experience, it is not hard to understand the empty bar and lounge on the night of a sold out concert.

Very friendly, the Bartender was excellent and made me his most favorite concoction, a truly delicious spicy margarita. It was magical.

Hands down the best old fashioned we had ever had. The bartenders know how and obvious excitement to deliver something beyond our expectations was such a big part of the experience. Lovely decor, intimate atmosphere. Perfect date spot.

Wow, inconsistent showing from apothecary. Excellent service, drinks, and meats back in Feb 2017. Not at all good last night. Poor service coverage left us seated but forgotten, but such things happen. The setting is very comfortable and private, with an unplaceable blend of starship enterprise and mid-century modern. Cocktails were unremarkable this time, but so special last time. Odd. And, if you like, you can "design your own old fashioned" by mixing and matching ingredients on a little card, which you submit to the bartender for construction. Let me stop you there, apothecary -- only one of us is being paid to design and manufacture cocktails. How about you just make a great cocktail, and I'll drink it. Then, if it is unremarkable, we will know who is responsible. The in-house charcuterie, so memorable from our last trip, was now incompetent. A liver pâté conjured memories of...Doritos. Striking, bewildering and definitely bad. Why would you do this? Another choice was just disastrously salty, just a complete pratfall of a sausage. Insultingly artless. So, I don't know what happened to this place. But I was eager to return, and wouldn't be very eager now.
