Antiques on Main is a solid three, an average antique mall on Main Street in downtown Anoka. They have 2 levels, the main floor and a large basement. Like most antique malls, they have a huge variety of items. The vendors all seem to be good...mostly nice items, displayed in an organized manner.UNFRIENDLY? I've been here many times. I have one bitch about the staff though - they're inconsistent. Sometimes they're friendly, sometimes they ignore you, and sometimes they're downright bitchy. Sometimes they really suck. I'm pretty sure the staff are dealers that take turns manning the front desk. Some consistent friendliness and basic customer service skills would be nice. Antiques is a tough business with a lot of competition. You have to be nice to people when they take the time to walk in your door.SHOPLIFTING? This time, there were 3 staff. One really old dude with a giant ring of keys followed us around the 1st floor like we were shoplifters. This really irritated me. And it really pissed off my wife. She's was concerned they were profiling her because she's Latin. Brown people steal stuff - right? Come on - give us a break! The 2 ladies at the front desk were pretty nice...especially when they realized we were buying a pile and antique photos and not stealing anything. In summary, not worth the gas to drive across town. But definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. (And try not to act suspicious so a creepy old dude with keys doesn't follow you around the store.)-Daddy Maxx Retro

My wife and I love to stop at antique shops to look around and stuff...and to usually enjoy the good spirits of the shop owners. However...it was a dark experience to our otherwise bright outing the day we visited Main Antiques. The selection there is fine yes, I even found a vintage Car & Driver Magazine I'd been looking for. But...the folks working there were crabby, crabby, kind mean, and snooty. For example...they took a phone call from a customer wanting to sell. Upon hanging up...they proceeded to denigrate the caller loudly so the whole could hear. My wife bought a tiny plastic turtle and the cashier scolded my wife when she choose to carry it in her purse "now..you're not going to break that...are you?". For me...when I paid for the magazine...the guy argued with me because he couldn't figure out the cash register. Then got upset because I didn't want the receipt. Oh well...just be prepared...they're having bad days there.

Fairly good sized, neatly organized place on 2 levels. The staff there is pretty unfriendly - like they don't speak or make eye contact when you come in. Their prices tend to be on the high side. I realize it's an antique mall and probably the individual vendors set their own prices but they're still high.

I went to most of the antique stores in this area and this one was my favorite! there were so many fun things and the most of the staff was really kind and friendly. so many things I wanted to buy, so I'll be coming here again. also, the cameras was one of my favorite things to look at. I almost bought a camera but decided not to and I'm kind of regretting that now ahaha, but I will find one I like next time and buy it for sure! update: i bought the camera. i love it so much

antiques on main has been a favorite place for a number of years. they have a great staff who really enjoy their jobs and this shows from the moment you step in the door. they price their wares to sell and you can always find a treasure big and small at very reasonable prices. but remember to look in the corners i ran across a very nice hand blown vase that is going to make a very nice find but its only one of many treasures that you'll find there. happy hunting
