My husband and I were passing through and decided to stop in after eating breakfast down the block. As soon as we entered I found one of my loves, vintage earrings. They had a huge selection so I was in my happy place. As I was shopping I felt as if I was being watched. Sure enough I turn around and there is a sales lady looking at my hand of goods like she was trying to figure out how many pairs I had. She asked if she could take them and starting them up. I told her no , that I wasn't finished making my decision. Instead of her going back to her register, she busied herself close to me, as if to keep an eye on me. It made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and judged. Won't be back.

Antiques Downtown is a solid 3, an average or slightly above average antique mall. This store has 3 floors - 1st floor, 2nd floor, and a large basement. Many of the items on the 2nd floor are craft or up-cycled type merchandise. I'd estimate that 90% of the items are antiques, 10% are non-antiques.Everything is clean, organized, and displayed nicely. They have a large variety of (mostly) quality items. This store has been around for a while. All of this is a sign of good management and owners that have their act together.I wouldn't drive across the metro to see them. But it's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.-Daddy Maxx Retro

To start off, this store has a lovely selection of quality antique items. The three floors, although a bit overwhelming, display decades of masterful collections within the different booths. You will find special, significant items here if you choose to roll up your sleeves and dig hard enough. HOWEVER, the reason for the three star rating is due to the behaviors of the employees. I am a relatively young individual and because of this I believe I was treated with disrespect. While shopping, I was insistently asked for my items to be held at the front desk instead of walking around with them. This request, although seeming manner full at first, ultimately repeated until it (to me at least) appeared that I was thought to be a shoplifter. I left my items at the front desk and continued shopping. The REAL trouble however, began when I was checking out my items. One of the records I found in the display bins did not have a record sleeve with an attached price as the others did in my cart. So, of course, I asked the front desk to clarify the price. They then repeatedly asked me if I removed the sleeve from the record (in an attempt to bargain the price) which I denied because I did not. Even after I said no repeatedly, the woman working at the desk did not believe me and went to scour the bins for the "correct" sleeve. She came back carrying an empty sleeve with a lone price on it, no album title, no other form of identification and INSISTED that I removed the record from the sleeve. I tried to explain that it could have been a customer before me, but she simply groaned and moved on. Next, she the asked me "how do you even know who *artist* is??" To which I was so shocked I could barely respond. I have never been asked or judged because of my age at a business so harshly. ANY YOUNGER PEOPLE please know what to expect before entering this business. Expect to be treated like a child.

I love how people give this 3 stars but then say how they have everything. I give it 5 because they deserve it. Yes, its managed well and the people working there are all kind and helpful. The three levels are laid out well and you are not cramped walking through there. Never an old musty smell or tons of junk. I have bought many things here over the years from old fireplace mantles, to upcycled gifts, a midcentury drink cart, Vintage Pyrex, and even Cutco knives. I love this place and every time I am up in Elk River i make sure to stop in!
