Possibly one of the seediest joints you could ever hope to happen upon but it's here and it ain't goin nowhere. I had my first experience at Al's about 23 years ago and it sticks with you much like the cigarette smell back when you could smoke indoors. Service? Who cares. Just shoot pool.Ambience? Who cares. Just shoot pool. This is what I like to think of as a modern cowboy billiard hall, it isn't for the faint of heart and I love that it's one of the few places you can go that DOES NOT serve booze which makes it a true diamond in the rough. Food and drinks are prepared and served via vending machine so bring your quarters. Take Al's as he is and you'll fit right in.

I love to play pool but hate the bar scene, so Al's is an awesome find. We went on a Sunday night around 7:30, and while the main level was pretty crowded, upstairs had plenty of tables available. The place is very casual and pretty worn, but Al is super friendly and welcoming, and we look forward to visiting again!

I enjoyed shooting a few games upstairs on their nice big tables and had a great conversation with Al. A very nice, personable hard working family man. The next time I wanted to play pool I drive up there and a NOTICE from: STATE OF MINNESOTA is posted on the locked door. CLOSED.... I have not seen any lights on over there for over 6 months now. I sure hope they figure out how to re-open as that place does the local community a service in giving some local youth a safe place to hang out were there is no alcohol. A great place to shoot some pool in a very laid back and polite atmosphere. Nice People, Decent prices and great pizza...! Come on Back Al, were looking for ya...!

Yeah, it's a bit of a dump, but that's what they call "character." Speaking of, Al is one. If you're a snob, then you probably don't play billiards in the first place, you play snooker. Snook elsewhere, and let me enjoy Al's in peace.

I was just briefly in town and needed dart flights. I remembered coming here over 10 years ago and knew that had some so I figured I'd check since I was in a hurry and I was just a couple blocks away. My wife and I walked up to the door and it wasn't open yet so we began to turn around then all of a sudden the door opens and the owner yells to us and asks what we need and if he can help. I said it's ok I just needed flights and didn't know the store hours (didn't open for another couple hours). He invited us in and pulled out his selection of flights.I apologized and said didn't have to because it's only a few bucks, but he couldn't have been friendlier. We ended up talking for a bit and I walked out with some great dart flights. This guy was great and it made me wish I lived in Minnesota so I could shoot pool here.

Older place, but super friendly owner Al make it all better. They have great pricing as well, we were there for 1.5 hours and it was only $12 for two people (we played 5 games). Can't beat that! Go ahead and play pool upstairs as lighting is much better and the tables are in better shape. They also have ladies night on Wednesdays (free I think - but don't quote me) and punch cards.

Dan S could've not put it better; this place is indeed a dump. It is in utter disrepair, there is crap laying around all over the place. However, the guy that is at the counter (who I assume is Al) is very nice and friendly. Lucky for us it was girls night, so the girls did not have to pay so my tab ended up being only $5 for about an hour of pool which is not so bad. When we got upstairs, there were a bunch of teenagers playing already. We seemed to be the only group where everybody was over 18, so this is definitely a kids hangout place, and NO ALCOHOL is sold here, which was a double bummer considering I had already been drinking for a while, so this place definitely killed my buzz.If you do go here, definitely play upstairs, it's a little less creepy and has a window that let's the light in. Downstairs looks like a combination of a morgue and a storage unit. Pool tables were in OK condition. This was definitely a weird place to come to; as we were leaving a friend of the guy that was at the counter insisted on showing us some card tricks. He did about 3 tricks (very good by the way) and wanted to perform a 4th one but that's when I had to pull the plug.

This place is awesome . Al the owner is great and super friendly. Sure this place isn't very clean and the tables are not top notch, but in Minnesota come here. Very fun place to hang.
