Almsted's Fresh Market

The baked goods. Hands down, best in the area. Yummy cinnamon bread, wonderful dinner rolls that will instantly remind you of what a dinner roll should taste like -- perfect texture and fresh, yeasty flavor. Put some thin sliced, deluxe boiled ham and mayonnaise in that bun and you will be rewarded with pure pleasure. They also have a complete deli case and, of course, traditional groceries. You certainly are not going to find the wide range of product you might expect from, say, Hy-Vee but what you will get is a friendly shopping experience with helpful staff who bag your items and treat you like a real person.

I have recently started to frequent this wonderful little neighborhood grocery store. It's a nice size, not too small or too big to get overwhelmed. Fresh and organic fruits and veggies. There is a separate refrigerated section for eggs, a nice touch, especially during this current nation wide egg shortage. I LOVE the deli and bakery here! The fried chicken is delish! Heavenly pies and breads! The cashiers are very helpful... there even an attendant that bags your grocery for you, just like back in the day. What's not to love?

Needed a few things and stopped here on a whim. Great small shop! The staff are all friendly and helpful. If you're wanting to supporting a local business, this for sure is the one. Their produce was fresh and at affordable prices.

I love taking my grandma here, mainly because it's her new favorite grocery store but also because I love the atmosphere of a "small town" market. Lots of great finds, amazing bakery items & perfect portion sizes if you have a one or two person household.Parking is easy, as there is a parking lot.I recommended going here if you like small portions of groceries!

My coworkers and I have been to this market a few times. The prices are very close to those of Trader Joe's and cub food, and other stores. It's local good service very courteous young staff. Plenty of parking with easy access at a corner. The place was clean.Shopping here will save you at least 1 gallon of gas if you live in the neighborhood. I see many locals walk or drive here. Hi still have to try their chicken and their bakery... so far I only tried fruits and vegetables.

My first time here...LOVE the bakery & deli. The fried chicken dinner is fabulous! The coleslaw is flavorful and the fried chicken outstanding. Their bakery items are very good as well. The staff was very friendly. Will definitely be back.

What a special place! A lovely small grocery store doing things the right way! Friendly service, phenomenal fried chicken and deli, and outstanding bakery goods. They have a great selection of goods and it is such a pleasure to shop in a true store of the community. The big chain stores can keep their cold, sterile and manic self-serve atmospheres - not to mention their ever growing private labels of generic "food". I'll take Almsted's all day long!

Do you want to shop at a store where the people actually say hello and are happy you're there? You need to try Almsted's. It's such an easy stop, they literally carry everything on my list and have a great bakery, produce, deli and meat department! It's a great place, not too big and impersonal like so many other grocery stores in town! From the staff on the floor, to the checkers, to the baggers and carry out people I feel so welcome! Almsted's is a great asset to my local community, give them a try!
