Food: 5/5. We come here 2 or 3 times a year and the food is consistently amazing. We got a bone in filet with bone marrow butter, fellers ranch NY strip with truffle butter, loaded hash browns (these do come with onions if that matters to you), mushroom bake, mac and cheese, and asparagus. The drinks are also great! We had a Manhattan, old fashioned, and pomegranate martini. Service 5/5. The wait staff are very attentive and ensure you consistently have everything you need. Ambiance: 5/5. We went on a Friday at 5 and it was a slower day. I love all of the animal wall art and the overall aesthetic. The booths are very comfortable and feel almost private with higher walls. If you're looking for a high class steak restaurant, this is it! We have tried many in town and have only had consistently great service and food quality at 801. They have a valet if you're worried about parking. Otherwise there is covered parking in the same building they are in.

This isn't it.From the moment we got there the only thing the place had going was the hostess. Our dinner reservation wasn't ready for a good 20 minutes after we showed up.The first 10 of that 20 minutes was being seated at the bar to wait for our table, while the bartender overlooked us.10 minutes in. Great drink. Old Fashioned.20 minutes goes by, Get our table.Order second drink. Same drink, served in a different glass, different ice (first was 1 cube of whisky ice, second drink was tail ice. Both tasted different, so no consistency, (which would be fine if this was your local dive bar, but it's not) Steak showcase comes around, half the menu's dry aged steaks are missing.... Waitress has a great excuse that their chef wants perfection, so items were pulled... excuse none the less... Order food... Food comes.... Filet mignon with truffle butter comes for dinner.Steak is undercooked to order, cold and the truffle butter isn't even remotely melting on to top of the steak that was supposedly cooked in a special high temp broiler...Third Old Fashioned... even worse... less ice, no mettle... this time it's just like my local dive bar... I'm not here to do anything but hope the business reads this....Wildly underwhelming and I hope there's an opportunity to raise your standards to match your pricing...Again... this at this price.... This isn't it.

Personally I love 801 Chop, our first experience was in the summer but we have been back since. There's just something about the service and the environment that makes us go back. There are a lot of other steakhouses down town and in the surrounding areas but 801 is a step above. First they start with a warm fresh baked sourdough for the table, if I could eat just that I would. We've tried a couple of their signature drinks and every single option has been great. I don't think you can go wrong with anything from the bar. For starts we either go with the tartare($25), pork belly ($24) or even the meatballs (22). The Caesar salad ($16) is also a staple of ours and can be shared between two people as a starter. Your waiter will bring out a cart to show different cuts and if you don't know a lot about meat they'll give a quick 101 on what to pick depending on what you like. We've tried a couple of different steaks and each one was good, the petite filet mignon $75 has been a fan favorite but for $10 more I recommend the 12oz. Some people are good with just steak but I find adding a butter or additional topping just kicks it up a notch. If you're unsure of what to get go with the black truffle butter ($13). As a limited meat eater the sides are my favorite part. Most of the time I will order the one pound baked potato (with the works) as a main ($11). It comes with pork belly and you cannot go wrong. The scalloped potatoes ($18), Garlic Mashed Potatoes ($16), Grilled Asparagus ($19), French Green Beans ($16) are all worth trying. I think my favorite side (besides the baked potato) is the onion rings ($15). We've never made it to dessert but I'd like to try it next time if we can limit the amount of sides we order. I recommend making a reservation. 50% of the time I doubt we would have waited if we walked in, but I'm not willing to take that chance. I highly recommend checking it out.

While in Minneapolis to see #72 beat up on the Gophers, the GF chose 801 Chophouse for our fine dining experience. Side-note, she ate at the brand new location in Tyson's without me, so she felt bad..LOL!I have a birthday coming up fast so she informed them of that and they dressed up our table with bday wishes, which was a nice touch! Our server, I wish I could remember his name, was extremely personable and loved his job. He literally made me change my order from lamb chops to a ribeye just by his description once he ran down each cut of steak they offered. Again, my girl just visited 801 in Tysons, so she was dying for me to try their crab cake and Oysters Rockefeller for our starters. She was RIGHT, they were both AMAZING! Now that we were done with the pre-game, I was anxiously waiting for that aforementioned Ribeye! It came out precut and at the perfect temperature. That thing melted in our mouths. Again, AMAZING! My Old Fashioned was the best drink I've had in a while and guess what, our outstanding server also doubled as the bartender, so he's a hell of a multi-tasker..LOL!801 Chophouse is UPSCALE, and I've been to a lot of fancy spots in my day, just don't get sticker shocked when you come. Don't make me say I told you so..LOL!Thank you 801 for a great dinner, I was a little shocked I didn't get a complimentary bday dessert, I'll just chalked it up to he forgot!! :))

801 Chophouse has perfected customer service, fine dining, and quality! While in Minnesota we had to knock off at least one fine dining experience and we chose 801 Chophouse. Located conveniently in Downtown Minneapolis, this was a quick short walk, high heels no problem, it's a straight flat walk.I made our reservation and told them it was a special occasion. It's Scorpio season! Life is short so we definitely have to live and appreciate birthdays for the ones we love! We got to the restaurant early and they accommodated an early seating! Upon being seated, I see birthday confetti on the table. Nice touch. Ambiance is elegant yet casual. Patrons were both dressed up and down. Let's get into it! Oysters Rockefeller - Perfect! Crab cake - Perfect! Ribeye - Delicious! Brussel sprouts- PERFECTION! Those Vidaliaonions were a perfect combo! Drinks were made to perfection. It's not often my babe gives a drink kudos but he did! Over all, you pay for what you get! Top Dollar, Top Quality! Highly recommend.

I had never been heard of this chophouse before, but my brother had mentioned it so we went out on a double date. This is located downtown Minneapolis so plan to either find street parking or park in a ramp. Once you get inside it's a pretty and quiet with ample seating and good space. Our server Santiago was very attentive and friendly. As far as the food goes, all of us got something different. I had the surf and turf and all of it was seasoned really well and tasty. We had 4 sides and enjoyed all of them. The onion rings were huge. AllOf these were shareable and we definitely had left overs. My boyfriend had the feller ranch NY stop steak and that was cooked to perfection and also tasty. Overall know that going in the prices are high, but the food quality is definitely worth the price. Know when you are full at the end, if you want dessert you're best off sharing with the size!

While I'm not a frequenter of steak houses, I usually go twice a year to well reviewed steak restaurants to try some beef. The ambience was cozy with dark wooden furniture and low light. We ordered the Dry Aged Bone in New York Strip (medium rare) and 12 oz Filet Mignon and 2 sides. Our server was excellent, prompt, and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was excellent. There is parking in the office building that the restaurant is located in. Will come back again.

Considering the price, we had a pretty basic experience. We had some cocktails to start. They were small, particularly the negroni and weak. For starters, we had the mussels, burrata salad and the down home shrimp. Mussels were pretty good. Salad and shrimp weren't worth the $21 and $25 respectively. The shrimp are served with mashed which makes it a very heavy starter. We then had the surf and turf, mashed potatoes and blue cheese potatoes. Steak was tender and cooked as requested. Sauce was very good. Mashed potatoes were good as well, very smooth. Blue cheese potatoes were not good. They were undercooked. We did say something and they took them off. We had chocolate cake for dessert. It was a nice gesture as they offered a choice of any dessert for birthday but the cake was sooooo sweet. Not very good. Service was average. Considering we payed over $430 for our meal, the whole experience didn't feel refined or elevated for the price. It was also not busy at all, so the atmosphere was none. They do have valet for $15.

WAY over priced. Many other better steak choices in town. The seafood tower is so mediocre.
