I visited 6Smith for the first time last weekend to celebrate my sister's birthday, and it did not disappoint! Having enjoyed multiple visits to Baldamar, I was excited to see what 6Smith had to offer, and it lived up to the hype.The menu was overwhelming in the best way--so many enticing options that I knew I couldn't go wrong. The Bread is Life was an absolute must-have: warm, soft, and paired with incredible accoutrements. I nearly ordered a second one to take home! We also decided to share the dry rub wings, and I'm so glad we did. They were perfectly seasoned, juicy, and moist while still achieving a nice crisp on the outside; just how wings should be. For dinner, I ordered the short rib, and I had zero regrets. Between the two appetizers, I barely made a dent in it and had plenty of leftovers to take home. The tamarind in the tomato-based sauce added a subtle hint of sweetness that perfectly complemented the savory flavor of the meat. I'd absolutely order it again, though with so many other tempting options on the menu, it may take me a while to circle back!Since we dined in early February, it was too dark to see the waterfront location, but I'm already looking forward to a return visit for brunch and a summer patio experience.The only downside to my visit was a small but frustrating detail: When I ordered a dirty martini, the server asked if I preferred regular or blue cheese olives. Naturally, I chose blue cheese (because, obviously), only to later notice a $2 surcharge on the bill. I don't mind paying extra, but I do mind not being informed upfront. It's a poor practice that left a bit of a sour note on an otherwise excellent experience.That said, I'll absolutely be back--there's still so much on the menu I want to try!

Great food and service! And tastes much better than the pictures!Came for restaurant week and everything was great or very good. The plating wasn't always the most attractive so the pictures don't really do the food justice.Couldn't get a reservation so asked to sit at the bar, and was offered a booth in the bar area, which was perfect. Server gave us recos, and each dish was a hit. For tartare was amazing, and the roasted vegetable salad was very good. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the short rib was very tasty. I loved the flan, and the chocolate mousse dessert was great too. Will definitely go back for the food and service!

We went here for lunch during restaurant week. The waiter gave us some great recommendations on the food options. The food came out fast and was pretty good. My favorite was the dessert. This is a great place to go for a date or to meet up with friends.

I've been remiss in posting as we were here the last time on New Year's Eve. I've been here a number of times mostly during the summer months as the location is great for outside eating with a beautiful view of Lake Minnetonka. On New Year's, we had an early reservation with friends. Clearly the staff put in a ton of work to make the evening festive no matter the time of your reservation. Decor was classy in black and gold. Each time they turned the tables they restocked hats, Tiera's, leis, etc. Guests could dress the occasion! A very nice touch. We had cocktails, apps and dinner. A highlight was the steak tartare and miso sea bass. Our friends had the hanger and flank steaks. All enjoyed their meal! Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable. Only downside was she was a bit salesy and became less friendly when we didn't order the most expensive steak of the night. Definitely recommend and will be back this summer!

I think it's about time I update my review for 6Smith! Since my last review in 2020, I've been here a handful of times and each dining experience has been great! The staff is friendly, there's never a crazy-long wait, and the menu is great. The patio at 6Smith became one of my favorite spots last summer, and I cannot wait to spend another summer with friends on this patio. The overall ambiance on the inside is dark, cozy, and moody. It can be romantic, casual, and perfect for a business dinner. I've eaten my way through this menu and everything, so far, has been great. I'm happy I was finally able to update this review from continued, positive experiences! Quick shoutout to Kiasia and Victoria for excellent service!

We haven't been back here in a minute! But we made reservations to celebrate our 7 year wedding anniversary and it was such a lovely treat. Dead of winter but I imagine it's beautiful to overlook the water in the warmer months. Nonetheless, the view of the frozen lake was also stunning! I ordered the prime New York strip and my husband got the filet mignon. We ordered the broccolini, French fries, and mashed potatoes for sides and it was way more than we could finish!! The mashed potatoes were so smooth and delicious, the fries were great and the broccolini was the best I've ever had. The mouth watering steak was cooked to perfection and I loved every single bite, so tasty!! I also got the blueberry basil lemonade, not really my thing but glad I tried it :)

I'll start by saying I've been to 6smith probably 10 times now in the 4 years I've lived in MN and it is by far my favorite restaurant. They have perfected the steak down to a science but I finally decided to review them for restaurant week fall 2025. I started off with the steak tartare which is excellent. If you are afraid of raw meat don't be. I was skeptical myself but it is seasoned very well and doesn't taste like you are eating raw meat. Love the garlic crostini it comes with too 10/10. Entree was the braised ribs in a romesco sauce. At first I wasn't sure about it because typically that sauce is served with pasta but it was really nice. 10/10. Got a side of Mac &cheese (not on the restaurant menu) always amazing. In fact one of the best if not thee best Mac and cheeses in Twin Cities. Dessert was chocolate cake. 9/10. I wish the Khalua flavor came through more and that the cake was more moist. Maybe it's because it had been chilled for an extended period of time not sure. Still tasted good ! Service was excellent and it was a full house but they didn't skip a beat in superior service. Water glasses stayed full and we always got fresh silverware and napkins between courses.

A friend recommended the happy hour at this spot. Took my mom and had just if the items on the menu. Everything was perfect for me, some a little spicy for my mother but the happy hour prices were amazing! Great lake views and beautiful bar area. Staff was very friendly and helpful with menu items. Will be going back for the Mac and cheese! Great happy for lunch and late night.

This place keeps surprising me in a very good way.Tried their Evan's chicken which was very good with the vegetable medley doing the trick. Bread is life - truly! What amazingly tasty bread with chimichurri and butter bringing it all together.Curried shrimp was pretty tasty, and the chimichurri shrimp appetizer added the perfect contrast to the chicken we had.Beware of the size of that Mud pie- crazy huge, but amazingly tasty.

We've been to 6Smith many times and always have a great experience from the staff to the food. We went for Valentine's Day and had the best time with Lia as our waitress! She was incredibly attentive without being overbearing and gave us several fantastic recommendations. She made the overall experience that much better!
