...this has been our go-to since moving to Summit Hill two days before the lockdown in 2020. Small space packs in lots of wonderful wine and beer selections. Knowledgeable staff, who occasionally throw shade. Like today...I go in enough to recognize folks, but not enough to be on a first name badis. Been a LONG day, picked family up from the airport after doing a LOT for other family all day. Stopped at 1st Grand for beer and wine. Brought my own bags in because: age, environment. As I head away from the wine with two carefully selected bottles in a bag, one of the staff all But accuses me of stealing.1) Not stealing2) Smile at customers3) apologize after being snarky4) I will likely Not go in again b/c not the firat time some person in there has been kind of an ass and 5) apparently, don't bring your own bags in there or be prepared to be challenged by a power hungry clerk. Who is probably, maybe, in another universe, a fine person.

This is the time of year through June that it's 20% off all pink roses'. I need to get asti champagne for upcoming book launches, I got the Cooks Spumante. They have an ongoing sale of 6 bottles of anything is 10% off. This really added up with a Zinfandel rose and Riondo Sparkling Rose. It's a beautiful store and Nick was very helpful.

You never know what you are going to get with a neighborhood corner liquor store. 1st Grand Ave Liquor though is like the candy store for adults. It isn't a huge store so it is easy to find what you need, but it is still large enough to carry a good selection of things. The layout is also really clear and very manageable. You won't get lost for hours trying to find that one bottle of wine you love, but you may also stumble across something you never thought about. The staff here is friendly. They didn't hover and pry to know what you were looking for, but they were present enough to know that they could swoop in and help at any time. They seemed to be very friendly with some of the "regular" clientele. The prices are fair but you are paying for better quality. I wouldn't say you are going to save big bucks on your choices coming here, but you won't drain your bank account either. Don't let the outside fool you, because this place is a gem!46/100

I was very pleasantly surprised by this neighborhood corner liquor store. It is much bigger than it looks from the outside. It does not give the clinical kind of feel that a lot of large liquor stores do. Nor is it dirty like a lot of liquor stores. It is clean and warm, welcoming and well-stocked.There is a large wine selection housed in wooden shelving. And while wine is OK, those who read my reviews know I love beer. First, HUGE walk-in cooler. Like room size walk-in! This is so important because unlike most liquor stores in the area, it means that you can buy more than 2 or 3 sixes of your favorite brew and have them all actually be cold! All at once! The magic of storage space that is temperature controlled. Second, well organized with everything well-labeled. Excellent variety and well-stocked to boot.Employees were courteous and helpful.Bonus star for private parking,it across the side street from the store.

Currently, they've got one of their 6 for $36 wine sales going on. What really caught our attention once inside the store though was the fact that they had 2 different Duxoup wines for sale (not in the 6 for $36 sale, though). Last night, one of their staff, Alexis, helped us. She was very informative and helpful. Today, when we returned to take advantage of their "deal", we were assisted by yet another female staff member, and she, too was very helpful, informative and friendly. The store seems to have a great selection of wines and their regular prices seem fair as compared to other stores.

DOG FRIENDLY. Your pup will get a treat if it's good. Great selection of various liquors, wines, and craft beers. There's chilled white wines/brut and different section of imports. It's a family owned business and has many regulars. The customers and staff are locals to neighborhood. The workers have to be a bit stern and watchful due to increase of theft and the occasional harassment. The overall vibe of the store is pretty homey and chill. Beers include imports, domestics, huge selection of local breweries, organic, gluten free, and non-alcoholic beers. None of the beer is very marked up in price. As for the wine it will be more difficult to buy the crappier stuff like barefoot or Franzia but that's a good thing. I've had so many awesome red wines from here! Chiantis, Malbecs, cabs, boredeaux, etc. if you buy at least six bottles of wine you get 10% on all the wine you buy. One less star for when the business is playing lame teen boy music. Classical or relaxing stuff is much better for professionalism. Parking lot for business is across Milton St.

Second time being here. Good selection but I had a really bad experience so giving it one star. Went into this liquor store a few minutes before closing. The person I was with didn't have her ID on her. I realize that these are both pretty good reasons to not to sell somebody liquor and fully understand why they didn't sell me any. However on the way out, the employee yelled at the person I was with for not having an ID on her, using expletives and negatively commenting on her appearance in the process. Extremely rude and unnecessary comments. Would have fully understood being told that it's against store policy to be in the store without an ID. Maybe this is unusual and maybe its not. Who knows. I'll never shop here again.

I highly doubt this will change anything, but I was in your store today, in which I frequent 2-3 times a week and I was treated very poorly. This has not been the first time. Because I was wearing a backpack, as I live nearby and utilize a bicycle to get where I need to go, I carry a back pack. I was immediately accosted by a young woman pretending to care if she could help me find something... In reality it was clear that she was making sure I didn't steal something. She profiled me completely. I have never been so insulted. Especially, as I've said, being a fluid customer spending thousands of dollars at your store monthly. Your staff is constantly rude and constantly dismissive. I've never once been thanked for shopping there and never once been treated with dignity. I live in the neighborhood and feel like when I enter your store, that I shouldn't be in there in the first place. I don't understand where this negativity is coming from! I've been in the liquor industry for over 10 years and this is one of the worst customer service establishments I've ever been to. Please train your staff. In the mean time, I will not be shopping here for a long time. Good luck with your business. Cheers.

Local family owned business now run by second and third generations. They have a love of and excellent selection of wine and some damn good scotch as well. Sometimes less than bigger places but always at least comparable. No fancy shelves just good value!
