MingHin is one of my favorite spots in Chicago. I can always count on this place for a great meal and a nice dining experience. We love their dim sum and noodle dishes. Reasonably priced given their location. You order on an iPad and there are photos of everything if you aren't familiar.

Absolutely some of the worst food, dim sum or not, I have ever had.I started with the pork bao buns. I thought these were halfway decent. The pork was a bit tough and the bun was falling apart. I've had better bao buns pretty much anywhere else. But at least they were edible. Couldn't say the rest of the food was.The shrimp shu mai was disgusting. The shrimp were so tough it cracked when I bit into it and the taste made my stomach turn. Smelled of mildew was was sickeningly sweet. I threw it away. The egg tarts were just as bad. Filling was horrible and the crust tasted of burnt oil. Thrown away.I had the shrimp pea tip dumplings last and they were also bad. One smelled halfway decent and the other two absolutely reeked of fish. Smelled like it had gone off. Also thrown away.To spend nearly $50 on food and having to throw away all but 1 1/2 bao buns is insane. Do not get the food from here unless you'd like to be sick.

This was my second time visiting, and I was really looking forward to our meal.We went for lunch, ordering the Mapo Tofu lunch special and an order of pork buns. The Mapo Tofu was bland, and there were no condiments (or any way to add heat or flavor), and instead of using Szechuan peppers, they used jalapeño peppers. This was totally inauthentic and bore little resemblance to "real" Mapo Tofu (which we've enjoyed in several U.S. cities, as well as in Asia). The pork buns looked and tasted like they were reheated in the microwave oven, instead of being steamed fresh. Baked pork buns should be flaky and fluffy. The bao were mushy and stodgy, and the filling was "microwave hot." Their flavor was ok, but seriously, they tasted like they were from the day before and just reheated in the microwave. While the room is pretty, and the prices are reasonable, I wouldn't go back.

Ordered a few times at this location, pretty satisfied with all my orders. They are really quick with their orders and lots of various dim sum options, even have some dishes that can't be found elsewhere. Beef Tripe w/ Ginger and Scallion: Not too salty, but it does have a settle taste of ginger (if you don't like ginger then avoid this dish). Beef tripe is flavorful, but not overpowering. It is standard level, not a surprising dish. Shrimp Dumpling w/ Pea Tip: my favorite dish! The shrimps are large, tender and fresh! I haven't seen this elsewhere besides Minghin, so I definitely recommend it. Malay Sponge Cake: this is a sweet fluffy sponge cake, commonly served in dim sum places. The sweetness is settle, not overwhelming. It is great dish to eat when it hot and freshly made. A great dessert option. MingHin Shrimp Dumpling: love their shrimp dumplings!! The shrimp dumplings at some dim sum places come with pork, but this doesn't (verified with the restaurant). Like the other shrimp dumplings, the dumplings are juicy, tender, and fresh. Definitely recommend this. Steamed Shrimp Crepe: I'm not usually a fan of steamed crepes because I don't like the thick layer of the crepes. I still have it a try of the shrimp crepe because I had great experiences with the shrimp dishes at Minghin. They did not let me down with their shrimps! The size of the shrimps are large, so I didn't feel like I was just eating the outside crepes. Would recommend this if you like steamed crepes. Nagaimo Yam and Ginkgo with Fish Fillet: this dish is kind of oily for me. I love nagaimo yam and fish fillets, but I don't think they go well together. I like how this dish comes with various types of vegetables. The serving amount is huge. But I don't recommend this dish, maybe the one with shrimps will be a protein better choice. Btw this comes with white rice, so definitely worth the price. Steamed Chicken and Dried Scallop Bun: another of my favorite dish! The filling of this bun includes chicken, dried scallops, shrimps, wood ear, etc. the filling is really light and seasoned, I know some people might think it is bland, but I really like it! If you don't like strong flavored dishes then this is highly recommended. Also, the outside dough has a subtle sweetness, but it won't steal the flavor of the filling. I don't see this dish elsewhere, so definitely recommend giving this a try. Baby Cuttlefish w/ Curry Sauce: cuttlefish is tender and greatly seasoned with curry sauce. It is not a strongly sauced dish, which is a huge plus! But you definitely still taste the curry and it is not bland. Great option to try out. Overall, Minghin is probably of the best dim sum places in town. Their staff is friendly and helpful based on my previous call to ask some allergies related questions and when I went to pickup. The restaurant got an awesome and high-classed interior design.

I can't wait to come back here in future trips to Chicago! Walking distance from our Lakeshore hotel, this spot was worth every penny! We ordered what we thought was waaay too much food, but we ended up with only one serving of lunch for the next day! First, LOVE that we could make reservations for a weekend evening. The restaurant is beautifully decorated! Tons of space for intimate dinners or big groups! The host and hostesses were welcoming and friendly, our servers were attentive and helpful. You do use a iPad to order, but there are pictures to see what you're ordering. Everything was delicious! They have small plates ala dim-sum (which is all I needed!!) and a lot of the typical Chinese cuisine you'll recognize and quite a few choices you don't see often--chicken feet! They also have drinks from Boba Tea to tropical cocktails! A must try!

Stopped by this restaurant location on 19 June, when we arrived we were immediately seated at a booth. There were a few people eating outdoors, the majority were inside. There were people from all walks of life dining, which I am a fan of. The wait and service staff were very friendly. This was the first time that I have used a tablet to order food at a restaurant, it was an awesome experience. Our appetizers came out pretty fast and so did our entrees. Overall a great experience, I would definitely recommend.

We were walking around downtown Chicago on a Sunday afternoon when we started getting hungry. We wandered off of Michigan Avenue and came across this place. We gave it a quick check on Yelp and it sounded good, so we decided to giver it a try.We were seated in a fun circular booth and were excited to see that the menu was all on an iPad which made it easy to use the photos and identify dishes that we might not have recognized by name.We love dim sum, so we picked a few of our favorites and tried some new items. Everything was delicious! The staff was also very friendly and attentive.

We decided to avoid the crowds on st pattys day by going the other extreme opposite of where people would want a drink in the middle of the day - dim sum. It was still crowded but definitely nowhere close to other establishments including coffee shops and fast foods (besides the usual suspects such as pubs). After 30 min wait, we were seated on the smaller dining room. I make this one of my stops whenever I'm in Chicago and I know that I can expect consistency. It was very busy so the staff seemed to be running around with their heads cut off, but they were still courteous. The only thing that didn't go quite right was the tripe. When I bit into one of the pieces, it tasted stale and was overly covered with sauce to mask the smell. Otherwise, we were stuffed with 6 dim sum dishes for 2 people.

The 1 star is not for the food but for the way the tip was calculated. I paid tip for the tax too!I used mobile payment, the tip selections are 18%, 20%... When I selected 20%, I had a fleeting thought that they wouldn't make the calculation with tax included. Anyway, I didn't think of it again until I got home and checked the receipt. Sure enough, they calculated the amount including the tax. That is, the tip turned out to be 22.35%.Either who ever set up the program did this on purpose or it was an action of ignorance. Either way, this is not good. I hope they read Yelp feedback and correct the mistake. I'm afraid this may apply to all of their restaurants. If I ever eat here again, I will always select the "Other" for tipping and put in my own calculated amount.
