Unique destination mecca for those interested in the American pastime andcraft that for centuries provided bed coverings (quilts) and decorative fiber art for walls and tables. Only three museums in the U.S. cater specifically to quilts and this one has over one-thousand examples of what dedicated women prepared for their families and used to express their talents. A treasure for Wisconsin.

Beautiful restored barn with quilt exhibits. Volunteers were very friendly and took interest in each visitor. Found the price a bit high for how small the actual museum was. If you love quilts, definitely make your way here. If you like museums, it's also a good stop.

oh this is a rare gem in full spectacle on our summer's day!we visited for the museum Garage Sale of All Things fiber: yarns, fabric squares, remnants and yardage, sewing notions (two tables' full), quilt kits, patterns, books, and whatever treasure you might find in the two large spaces of the school in adjoining barn building, they achieved their vision to develop a farmhouse, barn and adjoining farm buildings into a wonderful gallery, quilt exhibition space (air controlled), a museum-quality gift shop chockful of handmade fiber gifts, toys, books, scarves, art objects, greeting and notecards etc.offering classes too!Get the docent tour led by very accomplished quilter who explains the history of this farm of 1800's. it had a smokehouse, a blacksmith, a sheephouse for birthing and sheepshearing. the barn foundation is restored and covered with the original fieldstone of the area.An experience to beholdthere is a woolen mill in town. (not for young children, as they want to touch quilts, n things. older children ok)$8 admission, $7 for seniors 65 and up

Very Enjoyable! The Akiko Ike exhibit, which was showing at the time of my visit, was definitely worthy of 5 stars. I find quilts interesting, but I usually would not go out of my way for a quilt museum. I am glad I did though because the enthusiasm of the greeter and the thoughtfulness of the explanatory signage and method/manner of display top-notch. I feel like it was worth $8, but my opinion is certainly colored by the particular exhibit. You can enter and while waiting in line for the cashier, peek into the main exhibit area for free and see if the exhibit interests you. If it does, go for it. I think the museum is well worth supporting. If it was larger or fuller or cost less, I would gladly have given it 5 stars.

Museum and exhibit were really interesting. However we were greeted by a harpy who brayed out censures and instructions without even a hello first. This woman needs to be somewhere she doesn't interact with the public. Otherwise, Judy was awesome with her contributions to explaining the exhibit and the artist. As was the lovely lady behind the register. A rough start turned into an enjoyable experience

Anyone who enjoys being warmed by a blanket - who appreciates vision art creativity - and respects the craft will enjoy this museum. I planned my visit 09/2021when the entire exhibit space was dedicated to one quilt artist: Victoria Findlay Wolfe. (The exhibit will change soon to rug and fiber artists and their works.)

The current exhibition, "Victoria Findlay Wolfe: Now & Then, Playing with Purpose", open through December 5, 2021, is the favorite one I've seen here so far. If you appreciate art, design, color, imagination, textiles and or needlework, you may love this museum as I do. The soaring-ceilinged converted horse barn exhibition space is beautifully lit, and a warm backdrop to the handmade creations on display. The staff is friendly and informative. When my friends and family visit from outside the Milwaukee area, this is one of the my go-to destinations for entertaining and delighting my guests who appreciate all types of art and design.

I would give it zero, if I could. We were in Milwaukee on vacation, and my wife saw a Cedarburg pamphlet about this museum. It's a small barn, want $7 a person. What was there? Some 2'x4' artsy pieces of cloth with 'tobacco silks' applied to them. Wouldn't call them quilts. That was it! Don't waste your time.

This Museum is not to be missed. The creativity on display is always inspiring. The current Biennial exhibit is a delightful collection of quilts and fiber arts created by a number of Wisconsin artists. Truly inspiring! We never miss an exhibit. We also enjoy opportunities to meet the artists and learn about their inspiration for their work. The history behind the exhibit of the "cigarette silks" was fascinating. As was the artists' interpretations of "water." The "Death" exhibit several years ago was difficult until we took the time to read the artists' statements. Like art anywhere, some will attract and inspire; others will not. Isn't that what a museum is supposed to do?There is always something to see that will be thought provoking, inspirational, and simply enjoyable. The history of how the Museum came to be is also interesting.

I've only visited the quilt museum on one occasion....but after my experience today....I will never go back....much less ever give them another donation. They advertised for donations to their annual rummage sale....and posted a list of what they were looking for. My friend and I spend at least 40 hours sorting and measuring fabric and other items to be donated. When we arrived with the donations, at the time and place they specified....all they did was complain about the fact that we brought too much. So for you fabric artists out there.....don't waste your time or your dignity by supporting their sale. They don't deserve your treasures.
